Press Statement regarding regulatory action at Assisted Reproduction and Gynaecology Centre and Reproductive Genetics Institute, London
15 Jan 07
There have been a number of concerns expressed in the media today about two London IVF clinics run by Mr Mohamed Taranissi - The Assisted Reproduction and Gynaecology Centre, Upper Wimpole Street, and the Reproductive Genetics Institute, Weymouth Street (which was licensed to treat IVF patients until 31 Dec 2005 but has not had a treatment licence since that date).
Angela McNab, Chief Executive of the HFEA, said:
"The HFEA is currently taking regulatory action against the clinics run by Mr Taranissi which it is treating very seriously.
"This regulatory action has been entirely separate to any media investigation of these clinics, has been based on HFEA investigation and analysis, and has to follow due process set out by law.
"As this action is currently underway, it is not appropriate for the HFEA to comment further at this stage."
Any patients concerned about their treatment should contact the clinic in the first instance. |

ITV's award winning current affairs series Tonight with Trevor McDonald is making a programme looking at the issue of male fertility. We are making a documentary highlighting this extremely important subject affecting many couples in the UK. We are looking for people who have been affected by this issue or are worried that they could be ffected.
We realise that this is a sensitive subject and will obviously treat it as such, Tonight with Trevor McDonald has built its reputation as Britain's leading current affairs show by making programmes such as this in an informative and compelling manner.
We wish to highlight a number of issues surrounding male fertility and in particular will look to investigate whether a man can increase his sperm count and fertility by changing his everyday lifestyle. We would be really interested in speaking to the following people:
- A couple that is currently having problems with a low sperm count and currently unable to conceive.
- A couple that have conceived after receiving a low sperm count test result (either by IVF or by changing lifestyle)
- Males that are worried that they may have a low sperm count and would be willing to undergo lifestyle changes to improve it.
- A couple searching for sperm donors
- A past sperm donor
Please get in contact if you would like a chat and all conversations will be in the strictest confidence.

Christmas Is one of the hardest times of the year for a couple trying to concieve |
|
Sunday, 24 December 2006 |
As Christmas is for Kids (so everyone says) its a time to have fun and be merry, to be with family. So having no children can be really hard, as we dont feel fun nor merry as we clock up another year of treatments and investigations, of fending off well meaning and sometimes rude questions about our childlessness, even buying gifts for family and friends is tinged with sadness.
When you see cards for grandparents, knowing you cant buy them for your own parents from your Children, laying a table for two, when your siblings are reproducing like rabbits, all you can do is sit and cry, asking yourself over and over WHY! Why me, Why us.
I dont have the answer, I dont have the key to your happiness, I do have Compassion and Empathy for the way your feeling, and I am here, 24/7 who am I?
I am a Fertility Friends member, here to help and understand, I will prove your not alone in how your thinking and feeling, because chances are I've felt the same way too I can help you smile through those tears, and get you through Christmas and into a new year and then maybe I will see your dreams come true and you will see mine.
So come on post hello, and begin to feel part of an exclusive club, Some of us have been blessed but we are still here for we know the struggles your facing and how hard we fought to overcome them, and we are here to help you too
