Antenatal Care
Sunday, 17 October 2004

You are entitled to time off to keep appointments for antenatal care made on the advice of a registered medical practitioner, registered midwife or registered health visitor. Antenatal care is not restricted to medical examinations, for example it could include, relaxation classes and parent craft classes as long as these are advised by a registered medical practitioner, registered midwife or registered health visitor.

Except in the case of your first appointment, you must be prepared to show your employer:

  • A certificate from a registered medical practitioner, registered midwife or registered health visitor confirming that you are pregnant; and
  • An appointment card or some other document showing that an appointment has been made.

You should be paid as normal during the period of time off.
