The following are guidelines only – please refer to your clinics instructions at all times, as they have there own protocols that should be followed.

• Please abstain from sexual intercourse for at least three days prior to producing the specimen.
  
• The specimen must be obtained by masturbation.
  
• Please wash and rinse your hands thoroughly before producing the specimen.
  
• Do not use any lubricant or soaps and creams.
  
• The specimen should be collected directly into the container provided.
  
• Please ensure that you collect the entire specimen.

The specimen may either be produced at the hospital, at an appointment time, or at home and brought to the hospital within an hour.  If specimens are produced at home, they should be kept warm by carrying the container in a pocket. Your clinic will advise you as to where your specimen should be collected.

Ensure that the container is clearly labeled with your name and time of collection; you may even have to put your wife’s name on the container as well.
