Some tips for when bathing baby:

You will need obviously your baby bath, a clean soft towel (preferably only use the same towel for your baby and dont let members of your household use it), baby sponge and the baby bath (if you want to use it).

Make sure at all times that the water in the bath DOES NOT exceed 37C (under this temperature is fine), use a baby themometer (you can buy at any babystore - designed specifically for use in testing water temperature), or alternatively resort to the good old fashioned days and test using your elbow.

Use only baby products in the bath as these are sensitive enough for your baby's skin.

Keep the water shallow - recommended 8cm is plenty.

It may be an idea to clean baby's bottom prior to putting baby in the bath with some cotton wool.

Support baby by securely placing your forearm under him, making sure baby doesnt slip (your midwife will be able to show you the correct position for holding baby while bathing).

ALL DONE - now you can wrap baby in a soft towel.

Again the above are just some guidelines for bathing baby, if you are unsure or nervous about bathing your baby, ask your midwife for some advice or to go through the bathing process with you.
