BFP - Due Date March/April 2012 - Part 6

**In response to member comments we are changing the titles of the new BFP threads to reflect due date as not everyone gets their BFP at exactly the same point. The threads will now also be bi-monthly (i.e. in two monthly groupings) as it will help to keep the chat relevant to any given stage of pregnancy (or newborn development - the birth threads will adopt this approach too)**

Congratulations and welcome to your new home :) Please let me know your first scan and due date for the list :) Happy chatting :-* :-*

Ooh - am second!

Monkey - we bought one pack of Tots Bots for £30, down from £60 which is 5 one-size nappies and one pack of half price Bambino Mio (3 wraps, 12 nappies). They had bum genius also (but not on sale, so £72 for 5 wraps and 10 nappies in 2 sizes). Reason didn't get bum genius was because they were all synthetic and dh noticed though soft they were static to touch, whereas Tots Bots were cotton/bamboo so no static. No idea which best though, hence we got 2 types!  Plus council discount means Tots Bots will only cost us £5, so worth a try. Most councils give you about £25, some £50 if you buy reusables, so can get a pack for free to try if anyone unsure (I am so trying!!)

Being having regular BH past two weeks no problem but had a mild like period pain for an hour this evening and got all upset as don't want baby coming early as soo not ready. Feel very silly now that pain had subsided.

Great bump Belle.

Nice alias Karen  ;)

Did a little scale plan of the nursery this arvo and the nursery set fits so will nip to Mothercare tmrw and put a deposit on it, yippee!!  Its oak but painted white with oak tops, and Ive seen some lovely blue starry wall paper from Cath Kidson, I was originally thinking neutral but now it looks like we may go little boy blue :)

I googled buzzing and think the chunky monkey may be laying on a nerve, nothing seems to be too worrying tho

Oh new thread!

Happy Birthday Emigene and happy belated birthday Monkeybear!

Belle lovely bump!

Gladys - glad that pain is now gone... Scary tho!

Kaz - I am the last one to reach viability I guess... Still got 2+ weeks to go! It cannot come soon enough...

Keeping this short ladies, as still busy with work getting really fed up now! I really need a breather and they do not seem to acknowledge I am preggers and with twins... Might resort to doctors note if they keep this way.

Oh it was my birthday on the 1st of Jan too  ;D We seem to have a good number of Capricorns here  ::)
Love to all, Q

Gladys - glad things have settled down ive had loads of BH today, only had one a day prior to this, it did give me a wake up call!!!

To everyone else, happy new year!

Kaz - I live in Istanbul, so there is no such thing as risk assesment. Realities of a developing economy no work - life ballance. I work for a major software company as a sales person. Which requires me to travel a lot both by car and by plane. Not to mention the month end/year end stress due to quotas etc  ;D At the moment they are hell bent on getting the most out of me before March - or maternity leave! I really like my team and do not want to put them on the spot but I really was hoping beginning of Jan things will slow down but does not seem to be happening...

BTW checked mothercare for some baby furniture. I guess I will go for cot beds (sorry not sure if I am using the right terminology here, if not please correct me :) ) that is good for uptill 3 years old. What do you ladies do? Do you go beds that are big enough up to 5 years or less?

Love to all

Ah Quelle ok!!! Sounds full on!

I'm feeling the pressure having been off for 5 weeks and think lots of people took advantage of me being off! Need to get things in order as I have a new manager from the end of Jan and as im in a secondment job I want to prove that they need to keep me in the job before I go on Mat leave!

Re the beds I have a Cot bed which I think will work till about 3ish but will be using moses basket to start with. Need to move house before we can use the cot bed! LOL

Going for standard cot (2yrs) as it was free, then will either buy cheap single or keep our fingers crossed that in laws are not using nieces toddler bed by then.

Anyone get really hard kicks in the cervix? He just did it really bad and it hurt loads. Laid down now hoping he'll change position!

Hi ladies, happy new year to you all :)
My sleep pattern is really messed up at the mo, I just can't sleep until gone 2, and it doesn't matter how early I get up in the morning, cone night time I'm wide awake!
I'm blaming it on pregnancy and being off work for 2 weeks lol!

We have scan and consultant appointment in mornin so wanted to be able to get some proper sleep tonight!

Quelle, we bought a cotbed, not sure what age it goes up to!

Well, I think I've decided on the starry night Winnie the pooh theme (from babies r us) for our nursery, we've already got the combed with starry night bedding etc, bought the starry night changing mat, and mobile! Just want to buy some stickers and that really!

Also, people on iron tablets.....have you found it makes you go number 2 a lot more than usual?? I started on them just before Christmas and to be honest forgot a couple of times last week, but since raking them regularly have been going toilet more, didn't know whether the two were connected?? Sorry for TMI.

Karen, I haven't told my partner the name of this site, and when I tell my friends about it, I just say "this forum" I go on lol, I don't think I would like other ppl checking up on me, some things you just want to share with the people going through the same things as you!

Oh yeah and one more thing, my friend was the first person in Swindon to give this new year :), she had her pic in our local paper and everything!! She wasn't due until Thursday, she also didn't know what she was having and had a little boy! So very exciting start to the new year!!

Hi to everyone else!!

Xxx

#17 ·
louisem2, re the iron tablets they definately make you poop more, lol! I'm only taking one a day thankfully, don't think I could handle anymore!

Sooo tired! Couldn't get to sleep til 5 again. Just can't switch off lately. Would love a lie in but antenatal at 930, then want to start taking stuff to the tip as its dhs last day off for a while.

Happy New Year to everyone and a belated happy birthday Quelle!

We just ordered a cotbed with a mattress sized 140 x 70cm.  That should do until the baby is around 5 or 6 years old depending on his height, and is convertible into a toddler bed.

For the first few months we've also ordered a crib that can be attached to the side of the bed and you can take the side off.  I'm hoping that if the breastfeeding goes well that will save getting up in the night as the baby will be just there beside us but safe in his own bed.  Its got a mattress sized 90 x 45cm, so after a few months it will be too small.

Really starting to get into the baby shopping now, although I'm in a bit of a panic at how much we'd like to sort out before the baby arrives.  Thankfully my DH is keeping me grounded and we're taking it one step at a time, and focussing on sorting out the big things like beds and changing tables etc.  We only started after Christmas as I was afraid of something going wrong, but suddenly the nesting instinct is kicking in and I want to go mad shopping!

Re. iron tablets:  my blood test results showed I'm low in iron, magnesium and calcium so I'm now on a large selection of 8 different tablets a day!  Some of them need to be taken separately, on an empty stomach, with a meal, at opposite parts of the day ... I think I have to make a table to keep track of them all!  But its great to know everything is being monitored and going fine.  I've only been taking the iron for 2-3 days now, but definitely notice a difference with going to the toilet.

Morning everyone, hope we're all well and not being too blown about - very windy here in Norfolk.

Crystal - just noticed you've hit 30 weeks, congrats on 3/4!

We're thinking of getting a cotbed and have seen one by East Coast which got a 'best buy' from Which magazine but is fairly cheap (think it might be called the Angelina). We figured that if we don't spend loads on it now, if in a few years we wanted to redecorate baby's room and buy him/her a racing car/train/princess/peppa pig bed we cold change it without feeling we'd wasted money.

I have a day off today and am going shopping later which I'm very excited about, hoping to get some more baby bits to cross off my still extensive list of things we need! We need a new mattress for moses basket and I wa wondering if anyone can offer an opinion on the sleepcurve one that Tomy do? It's around £35 plus you seem to need special sheets at £15ish for 2. I can't decide if it's worth it or if we should just get a cheaper foam mattress instead and would be grateful for your thoughts. My nephew had outgrown his moses basket by about 8-9 wks as he was 9lb 4oz at birth, I think if I have a biggish baby it might not be worth the extra money spent - but obviously won't know till he/she is born! And as I'm indecisive by nature I can't manage to come to any conclusions  ;D

Also need to buy maternity bras today, have only just grown out of normal bras at nearly 28 wks but boobs seem to have had a growth spurt recently! Can anyone recommend a good place to go? Was thinking M&S or Mothercare.

Good luck to those with scans or appts this week, I have 28wk mw appt on Thurs and am wierdly excited about it!

Hi all!

Gosh im shattered his morning...it feels like my body didnt want to come back to work so kept waking me up all night to remind me!!  ^bigbad^

waby... weve been given a moses basket. If we hadnt i dont think i wouldve bought one as they do grow out of them so quickly..but we also live in a flat. so not far to put them down to sleep. for bras... yeh.. M&S or mother care. neither are particularily sexy but m&S do nice nursing bras (not bought them yet as i think our boob size changes again around 36 weeks!)

Crystal  - congrats on 30 weeks... ive still not got to 24!!! I dont suppose you could re-post the list for your hospital bag could you? thats my next task!

joss.... sorry to hear about you having to take so many sppliments but at least theyre looking after you! ^hugme^

louise... your nursery theme sounds lovely!!!

afm - i let my dw practise trimming my bikini line area....    lets just say that goodness it was a practise and no-one else will get to see it. I nearly have no hair left!!!  ::)  roll on thursday.... my official 24 weeks mark!!!

Hi all

Waby very windy here too in the night and today. Have fun shopping

Crystal have fun at antenatel, you should have a siesta later when your home  ;D

Ive been given a cot bed by by sil so will just need a new matress. I think my nesting has kicked in all the baby stuff we have ben given or brought ive dumped on top of the wardrobe so last night sorted it all into sizes and wrote down everything i had in what sizes and how many, the next list was hospital bag and the 3rd list was what we still need which is not a lot thank god lol

Sorry not many personals feel so tired

Morning Ladies

Bathbelle, lovely picture. I prob look like you but I'm only 28 weeks!!! As for flavour, to be honest it's killing me. There is so much lovely clothing around in the sales but can't buy anything  :(.

Peanut has been a bit quiet the last couple of days so I'm sitting here on the laptop drinking cold water hoping to wake her/him up. Don't want to over react but if don't get any joy I'll phone hospital!!!! I did drink some full fat pepsi yesterday and the sugar rush did wake Peanut up a bit but I'm still a bit worried, does it ever stop!!!

xx

Katena, we bought a second hand moses basket and stand from a charity shop for £10 so def buying new mattress and will prob re-cover sides too. It was the one thing DH and I agreed we wouldn't buy unless we could get cheap, because of the limited time it'll get used for. Thanks for tip re bras, I def can't wait till 36 wks though as I now have boob over spillage in my normal ones! Will prob only buy a couple, hope to find some in the sales.
Lol at the 'hair' situation - I can no longer see my 'bits' but am def not letting DH loose down there with any kind of blade ;D

Toria, hope Peanut wakes up soon, mine def has quieter days sometimes and it's hard not to start worrying isn't it? Baby was extremely active last night though, I thought it might be hiccups but not sure what they feel like - anyone experienced them and can describe for me?

#25 ·
Thanks Waby, she has livened up a bit now so feel a bit more relaxed.

xx

#26 ·
oooh Toria... you said 'she'!!!!

I agree with how hard it is not knowing the flavour.... theres not a lot of neutral clothes in the sales and i have seen some LOVELY girls/boys clothes. Im so glad ive booked a 3d scan.... next saturday! Im gonna go shopping afterwards!!

waby - ive bought non wired bras for now... the staff at M&S were a little rude and said they wouldnt even measure a pregnant woman in a wired bra! they advised non wired from day 1 of pregnancy! i think theyre a little crackers! ^idiot^ i was a little worried that non wired wouldnt keep my boobs in the same place a wired one does and that they'd look a little less attractive  ;)  but ive been pleasantly suprised!

i meant to say that at Mothercare last week... if you spend £30 on bras you get £5 off! not bad!

LOVING the bump pics too. Whether we feel small or bigger... we should just cherish this time. I am learning to embrace the bump... (as there is more bump than chub now!  ;D ) ppl at work have been lovely and saying im 'carrying it really well' and am 'blooming'... now i need to learn to stop being too obsessive about my weight and get off the scales!
