Rachy, I hope your daughter's operation goes well. I can't imagine how hard it must be having that worry on top of appointments.
Sounds like lots of cycles coming up, wishing you all the best.
Been thinking, on Easter Monday last year I had my egg collection for my first, unsuccessful cycle, amazing what can happen in a year. I really wasn't at all convinced we'd ever have a baby after that cycle went so wrong at the end but I'm 20 weeks gone now. Not wanting to rub it in at all, just want to say keep the faith, it really can happen xxx
drugs arrived today don't know what half of them are for! Haha, glad allie posted about the non existing 'kit' i would have panicked about that thanks allie
Ellen i feel your pain, its a hard process to go through, i did like seeing the thank you cards just as you go into the acu waiting room with pictures of the babies, gives you hope but also i felt a little sad like its a reminder of what i'm missing out on, bitter sweet, mostly sweet though, hope you are feeling better now
quick question, i'm on the short protocol and i've be given buserelin nasal spray and injection liquid, does anyone know what this is for, i'm assuming its for down regging when FET takes place?
also shouldn't i have a trigger shot of hcg? i don't appear to have this included in my delivery
Hi Sunhog, I am exactly same as you with the drugs but i believe the ACU nurse will explain it to us. Also not sure what the spray is for and i also haven't been delivered hcg.
Ellen7, please dint feel sad. Hope your next cycle bring that happiness for you. We all feel helpless at some stage as the process is not under our control. We just have accept what comes on our way. Having genetic condition is not great and we have to pass through this painful process as if having genetic condition wasn't enough. But please try to have faith, the next cycle can be successful. xxx
Trigger shot is primarily used to mature and get the eggs ready for collection in a fresh cycle, not necessary in FET. Sometimes it is still used though. As for the buserelin, I assume they just don't want you to ovulate naturally.
i've left a message with guys asking them to explain, i assumed i would still need a trigger as i'm still having egg collection this cycle, confused.com they should have explained this at the drugs appointment, should find out soon anyway, I'll let you know bluecloud
Ellen - I totally know where you're coming from - I feel like this whole process has made me grumpy and intolerant and has brought up lots of ugly feelings that i don't want to be feeling. I want to be calm and serene and be able to look back and say that all of this pain and frustration has made me a better person and i really hope that will be our testimony - but at times I just feel so frustrated and angry - i think its just being human and its ok to feel this way for a time but just to not let those feelings control us. Easier said than done I know! anyway, I hope it just makes you feel a bit better to know that other people understand! I hope you're doing ok - what stage are you at? Fingers crossed for this cycle- Big hug xx
Sorry sunhog I didn't know that you already had your drug appointment. Hope find the answer soon. I will take the drug list along in my drug appointment.
must be a simple explanation if both of us don't have the trigger, maybe they give you it at the first progess scan, I'll let you know if guys get back to me.
bluecloud i've had a response from guys, the buserelin injection liquid is the trigger shot, the nasal spray is for down regulating for embryo transfer, not sure why they gave me 20 syringes when i only need one.
Thanks for listening and sharing your thoughts. So few people get this I am so glad I found this forum of people in a similar boat (while wishing non of us was in the boat).
Just reading about the woman who appears to have killed her children who had a generic condition. Desperately sad. At least we know and have this option.
On the drugs, I think it is all confusing and if I was starting cycle one again I'd just take the whole purple bag to the baseline scan/ teaching appointment. I've never had any drugs for post egg collection from guys- maybe they always thought I was an outside chance! I was brought up to avoid all waste- from food to furniture so I find throwing away the perfectly good and still sealed needles a real wrench. There must be literally hundreds of spares....
You can give your spare needles back I think and they use them for training. It does seem mad that they give you 20 for 1 trigger - I thought that - but then maybe it's just standard for anyone who is given Buserelin as some people use it for more than just the trigger so perhaps it's a standard thing? I guess with so many different protocols they have to find the best way of making it easy from an administration purpose.
I didn't get any of the drugs for preparing for the FET when I got my stims, but I know other Guys girls who got them all together - seems weird to me, again maybe it's because I was always a long shot.
AFM - just trying to keep busy while waiting to stim (start 23 May), luckily am VERY busy at work so should make the time fly by. We've also just booked an 11 night holiday to Cuba between EC and FET to have something nice to look forward to and hopefully help with the waiting (if we have something to put back this time!).
Alliei80 not long to go. I hope it passes quickly for you.
Ellen7 I read the article about the mother killing her children, I am still in shock.
I have a question to ask. I have been asked to stop taking contraceptive pills from tomorrow i.e. 27/04 and then expect my periods to start anytime after that. I have been asked to restart the pills on 05/05 again (which may or may not be my second day of period). I am expected to start stim on 06/06. Does anyone here know when does the pills should start in the cycle before stim? I am guessing it doesn't have to be day 2 but pills should start on the date given by the nurse i.e. 05/05 in my case. I am confused...please help
hi bluecloud, i was given a schedule by letter, i took the pill continuously the month before starting this cycle even though this meant taking more than the usual 28 pills, i then stopped taking it 5 days before stimming.
hope this helps (i'm short protocol)
hope everyone is ok?
It's day 3 of stimming today for me, its going ok so far,
I took it/am taking it as per the schedule given. This time that has meant taking 28 pills (instead of the normal 21) then a 7 day break, then another lot of 28. Last time I took it normally except for the final set where I took an extra 5 pills. Hopefully you'll have the schedule in a letter from the nurse - just follow that (sometimes it means starting a new packet straight after your current one and only taking a few pills from it).
Fingers crossed for you Sunhog. When is your next scan?
I believe the baseline scan is done on the drug apointment day..is that correct?
Thanks you for clarifying the pills schedule. I have been given a schedule but i was confused as they didnt ask me start pills on day 2 in cycle before the stim. I will stick to the schedule i have been given without overthinking.
I am 6 weeks away from stim....seems ages away :-(
Alliei thats very good plan to kill time between EC and FET. I am also thinking to go backhome for couple of weeks and destress myself.
Thanks bluecloud, my scan is on Friday and another one on Monday to determine collection day which is due to be next wed, Thurs or Friday, yes I had a scan at my drug appointment,
6 weeks will go really quick you can use you pill as a count down
I agree allies plan is good to keep busy, I'm going to try and sneak a holiday in between,
We had our first appointment with the pgd clinic today and they said we can get funding. Our appointment lasted almost 2hrs, they took our bloods for the genetic workup and have arranged to get samples from my children. We're booked in for fertility testing in 3 weeks then we return to the satellite unit in late june for our second appointment. I managed to get my bmi to 19.5 so im very pleased with how everything went today. They did say it may take upto 9 months to make the probes as Guys haven't done them for my condition but I don't mind waiting if I get my healthy take home baby x
Thanks rachy, not feeling confident the nurse wasn't exactly enthusiastic! They were running behind by an hour and she was shuing me out before I'd even got my knickers back on! She made it clear she had no time for questions! Anyway the response to my question how am I doing was "you have a couple of follicles, and hopefully a couple more will have caught up on Monday" so it looks like it's going to be a low response I know it only takes one but it is a numbers game with pgd,
I would have asked for specific answers, size, amount. Maybe by saying 'a few' she meant good size follicles and a number of smaller ones to catch up. Remember its quality over quantity and as you said, you only need 1 good egg x
