Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone knows or has had any experience with surgical sperm retrieval at Serum.

We are due to have a DE cycle in April and my partner and I are discussing whether to have a TESA performed at EC or just to go for a donor embryo. He has had a SSR performed at our previous clinic and sperm were found and frozen but unfortunately we weren't able to ship it over to Greece. We were told that the sperm retrieved were of a reasonable good quality but I am just unsure of what to do. He would ideally like the child to be genetically his but thinking realistically the donor embryo would give us a much higher success rate. I just don't know what to do for the best. I know you ladies can't make the decision for me but I just hoped that someone may have had some experience of it to try and help me come to a decision because at the moment my head is just swimming.

Thank you

Lisa xx

it must be right that there is a higher success rate with proven donor sperm than with SSR sperm, but only you and your partner could really answer the question of how hard you feel you have to try before with OS before you are ready for DS?
maybe try and write down the options and possible outcomes then try and sit down to discuss how you would feel about each one
e.g., you use DD - and it works,
it doesn't work
you use DS - and it doesn't work
you use DS - and it works

if the answer is that if you use DS and it works and you both feel happy then that might help you decide?

farmgirl, brookie and purplenick: thank you!

Hi there

Just wondering if someone can help me out with this one? Penny told me to take folic acid 5mg, but I didn't realise that you couldn't get them without a prescription in the UK. Luckily I bought 2 boxes from Serum so I've got plenty to be going on with but just wondering where other ff ladies have got them from?  Do I ask Penny for a private script or do I just buy them online from another country? Seen some on ebay from Turkey but a bit cautious about buying from unknown sources.  Suppose if all else fails I can always take 12 normal ones daily!

I got a prescription from serum. You could take it to the GP and ask for NHS one but check if its cheaper to go private first...  J don't think folic acid will be that expensive but you never know.
I 'm switching to L-methylfolate anyway as i'm MTHFR hetero and i can't really process synthetic folic acid very well.

Hi ladies.  I have half way through the abs for ureplasma and mycroplasma, and had a consultation with Penny (by phone).  She was absolutely lovely and talked through a suggested treatment eg intralipids, steroids and abs.  Just a quick question.  I have one more treatment at bourn but i am not sure what my treatment can include (funded) but how did you get intralipids or abs.

Did you have to see someone like Dr G or did you get one from Penny, and if from Penny what sort of costs did it involve?

Also did you get an aqua scan or hysteroscopy and why did you choose between one or the other?  Bit of a loss really as i don't have a problem with lining but maybe it will help with the preparations so to speak.  Any thoughts appreciated

Hi pigsy
Penny will give you a prescription it's a one off fee for 100 euros. I got the meds from Ali in Rigcharm chemist London. I think for 2 week course it's 230 mine included progesterone pecessaries I then got a second prescription for intralipids (free prescription) it was less than 20 and Veronica hall administered them. That was 100. All the details are in agates file ( see her signature for link)
I think I have seen Bourne on here as not supporting immunes but I'm not a hundred percent. You don't have to tell them though they won't know.
Aqua scan told me I needed a hysto, but on saying that I had a hysto here Xmas eve and a repeat on feb 1st and you would not believe the bits that were in my uterus, like fluffy cotton wool, a miscarriage, and no blood supply, I definitely needed implantation cuts. The Xmas eve hysto was uk the feb 1st one Athens. There is no way all that debris got in there since the first one. Where would you go for the scan hysto? I can recommend going to Athens they really do try and give you a nice new baby room ready for nesting, don't think that the 2 ops are the same in both countries, in my experience they are worlds apart.
Good luck in choosing Hun, go with the path of least regret.
I have hidden c also no lining probs but you don't really know until someone has a proper look, my hysto showed no current infection so that's good but I did take anti bs just before Xmas. Actually they were in that first bill of 230 too. Once you get ur BFp your doctor will give you a prescription for the immunes.
Hope that helps.
Xxx

Hello ladies

I am hoping to go out to Serum for an OE cycle this year but I'm feeling really negative as I have severe endo and cysts as well as very low AMH!!

So I am hoping for some advice and hopefully some success stories to help me feel positive  :)

Many thanks in advance ladies  ^hugme^
