Hello I wonder can anyone help me as i have slightly high natural killer cells and TH1:TH2 and have had 2 previous DEIVF chemical pregnancies. Am totally freaked out as I know I cannot do intralipids as I am allergic to both eggs and soya. Zi** We** clinic said they would just put me on steroids does anyone know is this enough or is there anything else i should take instead of intralipids. Thanks so much in advance to anyone who can help
You can try an anti inflammatory diet/supplements for the high TNFa (TH1). And you may want to test your vit D levels as low levels can increase TNFa.
Re your NK cells; when were these last tested? Personally I'd retest at the start of a cycle and treat asked on the results. Steroids 'may' be enough, or indeed you may need nothing at all. IMHO it's better to find out what's going on, rather than guess at a dose.
I thought there was a non soya/egg version (it's essentially a TPN so you'd think there must be) but I can't find via Google.
However a lot ladies who need to keep their immune system in check have IVIg. This is expensive though (very), and I would urge you to retest your NKa at the start of your cycle.
if its only slightly raised, steroids and blood thinners will probably be enough... but maybe check your vit D at your GPs and check if you have a vit D deficiency... that's a common cause of slightly elevated immunes and easy to fix.
and of course if the 'older' treatments don't work for you and you can't do ILS, there are still options like ivig and GCSF you can think about.
Thank you so much for your replies and your advice - I have been on this journey a long time (5years) and want to go to Serum for a last go of DEIVF as money has really become an issue for us. I will have my Vit D tested which is difficult to test with your GP here in Ireland but will get it done somehow. I had the chicagos done a while back about 8 months ago and also they are so expensive to recheck but maybe i can do this for cheaper in Serum.... My DH sperm fragmentation was tested 12 months ago and came back at 33.3% so we were sure this was the problem so we re-tested after Peny in Serum put him on a course of antibiotics and we got results back today down to 20% so we are delighted.
You would think there would be an egg soya alternative as a lot of people have egg allergies but there you go. To be honest i do not think I can afford IVIG - we have spent a small fortune on previous OEcycles before moving to DE. Of course i was sure DEivf would work and it did but unfor didnt stick...
Agate could you tell me what is GCSF means, sorry probably stupid question. Also I have copied my results below and would love your expert second opinion on whether you think they are slightly raised or not. These were the ones that were highlighted as a problem. Thank you so so much again in advance - delighted and thanks again x
NK Assay
50:1 17.6 (result)
% of CD19+CELLS, CD5+ 10.5 (result)
TH1:TH2 intracellular cytokine rations
TNF-a:IL-10 (CD3+CD4+) 33.6 (result)
These were the only results highlighted as being above normal
I have an egg allergy & was fine taking intralipids. Best to check with your clinic though. When I had my 1st intralipid I was given an anti-hystermine & the drip was put through very slowly. I had no reactions & have had another 3 or 4 since.
Thanks so much for all of your replays once again.
SarSim, I probably would be fine with the egg as I am allergic to egg white not egg yolk and it seems to be egg yolk in the intralipids. I am also allergic to soya - it gives me a terrible headache, but to be honest if I thought for a second that I would not react to it i would do it....Thanks for your response
Agate, I am allergic to soya bean which I assume the oil is extracted from? Will go straight onto dr google to see if the oil would cause an allergic reaction.........
Patiently, I dont think it has peanut oil cannot see anywhere it says it does?
What about omega-3 fish oil intravenously, would this be the same as the intralipids? Just curious, not trying to hijack this thread but apparently some folks are doing this instead... (Personally I am allergic to anything from the sea so I've not looked into it.)
Dancer; you're right, I don't think peanut oil is in the ingredients however the leaflet says 'before giving intralipids 10% or 20% - your doctor should know - if you have ever suffered an allergic reaction to intralipids, any of its ingredients or any other products containing egg, soya or peanut oil'. I presume it's an anaphylactic thing.
I should not have said I was allergic to soya protein rather I have tested positive to a food intolerance to soya beans with Food print.
Is there anyone out there has had a soya bean intolerance and went ahead with intralipids anyway - how did you get it prescribed? When I mention I have an intolerance nobody wants to prescribe intralipids for me. Eventhough I have intolerence for soya protein (gives me a headache) I may not be intolerant to soya oil as Agate suggested. Maybe I need to test for soya oil in particular although not sure where Any guidance is very much welcome........ Thanks in advance
