Hi ladies I needed some advice regarding IVF/ICSI at ARGC, I've heard its very intense treatment with Dr Taranissi but he has a very high success rate which is leading me to choose his clinic but however I walked in few months ago and spoke to one of the receptionists there and was told I should be prepared to move to London for 3 months nearby the clinic due to very close monitoring. If any ladies have had any treatment at ARGC how did you ladies get along there and did you have to move to London or near the clinic. If any ladies can guide me It would be helpful for me and my hubby in making a decision if ARGC is for us or not.
Hi Luckythread, I can't comment on GI diet but when i went to see an acupuncturist, she wanted me to cut out EVERYTHING and live on air for 6 weeks and she said we'll work on the pregnany issues after this. So i guess, if you're cutting out a few nutrients you may need to rethink the diet but i really don't know much about diets. As for exercising, i'm lucky if i can fit in a short evening walk a day, it's annoying.
Ziggyb - I guess argc would give you a copy of your records if you wanted but you will see it when you go for the next appointment, it will be in your file. My results were back pretty quickly and had it not been for immune issues, i could've started a cycle straight after the monitoring, so everything was back on time. it didn't work out that way though...
Hi Pins - check out the Humira chat on the forum, lots of people seems to be taking the stuff
Hi Ziggyb, I have (slightly) elevated TNF count and CD19, these are natural killer cells in the body. I haven't started treatment yet as I was messing about with getting my TB bloodtest done so things got delayed quite a bit. My treatment (Humira) is turning up tomorrow, so I'm hoping to start soon as long as i get rid of this cold. I don't want to make myself even more ill by suppressing my immune system while it's fighting some infections. More delay.... argh....
BTW, they say there is a 60-70% chance the Humira treatment works first time and if not, 90% chance it works second time. fingers crossed
Blimey they are very strict if its only slightly. But i guess best to be fully intact before treatment starts. When you had your fist scan in your monitoring cycle, did they give you results that day
When I do my monitoring cycle - day 1-3 bloods - I'm doing locally, then do I book a mid cycle appointment with them or just show up at the clinic?
Also, after LH surge, the blood test around day 21 - is that checking progesterone only? And can that be done locally with my own GP or do ARGC have to see me and scan again?
Cheeps- d1-3 blood test- if your GP will do is fine just get the results to ARGC, mid cycle scan has to be at ARGC you will need to book in, they may then do blood tests (immunes/amh etc) you then do ovulation prediction kits at home & call them when its positive & they suggest what day you have your day 21 blood test (it is progrsterone only) and can be done locally too. You then again need to get the results to ARGC.
I can recommend (if you are looking to go private for bloods & they have some hospital close to you) I booked mine with blue horizons medical a plabotomy passport, much cheaper than anywhere else I called (even called the hospital direct & they quoted 3x as much ) xx
luckythread just wanted to add a positive story about those with low ovarian reserve. I met a lady on another forum who had 2 failed IVFs with high FSH and sperm issues. She managed to get pregnant naturally several times - unfortunately had some miscarriages but at 40yo the last pregnancy has stuck and she's finally had a baby! I've read quite a few of these stories. ziggy my immunes results came back in about 2.5 weeks cheeps definitely book an appt with ARGC for the midcycle scan and yes, the post ovulation test is just progesterone. Midcycle they also checked my FSH and E2 for some reason (the cynic in me thinks it's just moneymaking but who knows)
Goldfish- yep I agree, I was asked but declined immunes mid cycle scan and then was stuck with an amh test... Funny as in consult their is no mention of blood test at mid cycle scan but there you go another £180 on top xx
I had my immunes done the same day as the initial appointment. The doctor said to rush over the bloods place as it had to be done before 1pm! I start the monitoring cycle on day one which should be in about a week I think.
Dh also had semen analysis, they emailed the results to him the same day and his results were great, at least one of us is firing on all cylinders!
He also had the HIV/hep c blood test, results back same day too and they said they would only call if there was a problem.
Thanks Goldfish, very encouraging to hear success stories with low amh combined with sperm issues.
Reading that a lot of you had your immunes done with day1-3 bloods makes me feel I wasted a lot of time! Though I got my fsh done at gp n went for initial cosultation with the reports, I took a week a to decide if I want to go the immunes way!
Farfallarocks - I know this wait is frustrating but time will fly with this forum!
This forum is part of my routine now, every morning when I boot my system if manager is not around I will have a quick sneaky check at the latest chats!
Hi rang up this morning and asked if i could my immunes done today and she said come before 12, so at least they are do and she said they should be back in time for my next cycle. Got my day 1-3 day bloods back my oestradiol was 230, is that high
Thanks ladies for all your advice. It's so helpful to talk to others who are actually going through the same thing. Resorted to asking you guys my questions than the actual clinic itself!
ziggy E2 of 230 is a tad high...what day in your cycle was that on and what was your FSH? Whenever my E2 is in the 200s it seems to suppress my FSH. farfallarocks I'm getting impatient too! My consult was in July and I'm still waiting to cycle! 3rdtime they didn't tell me about having a midcycle blood test either until I arrived for my scan! thought it strange because I specifically asked what blood tests and scans I'd need during the monitoring cycle at my very first consult and I wrote it all down! luckythread at least you saved a little money doing the blood tests at the GP
Hi cheeps!
I'm just waiting for AF to show up (negative preg test this morning, not sure why I tested really, it's been months since I have!) so I can do my FSH tests again
Ziggy- mine has been 149 (dr sami didnt say anything except my results were great) and 159 the next time- although ive not spoken to anyone about that, but no mention of it at my mid cycle scan. Maybe its not something they are worried about. If its bothering you, just call them. Xx
Afm my amh if I heard correctly is 17.20 (im guessing thats 17.2?!) and I also couldnt make out on my voicemail if she said I needed to speak to tue doctor or I dont need to talk to the Dr, so Il call up tomorrow & check. Hopefully my progrsterone results will come through tomorrow. Still need to wait on OH dna frag results poss another 2 weeks. Ideally would like to start next cycle but guess it depends on the results first. Xx
Ive realised that my AMH test hasn't been requested, has anyone had it through the clinic
