Child Benefit

Your entitled to this from the day your child/ren move in with you also known as placement date.

Rates of pay (correct as of August 10)
Eldest or only child £20.30
Additional children - per child £13.40

How to claim
You need to complete a claim form however your claim will take longer to be processed as the CB will need to send you another form to complete with FC and LA/SW details on for them to contact them however some SW’ers do give you a letter to send with your claim to eliminate this issue.
Your child benefit will be back dated and credited into your bank. Payments can be made 4weekly.

*Once you have been to court you just need to ring up and advise of name change for your child inc spellings of original names and this will be changed over the phone

Working/child tax credits

Your entitled to this from the day your child/ren move in with you also known as placement date.

Not everyone is entitled to either of these however if you have a look at the “entitled to” calculator you can find out what you will get as the tax credits dept use a cauculator to work out if your entitled to anything before sending out the forms for you.

Child trust funds

Your not able to move/make amendments to this until after you have been to court and your child/ren are legally yours.

*Once you have been to Court you need to ring the child trust fund dept on - they will take info from you and ring you back
~your name and contact number.
~your child’s birth name and date of birth.
Call the CTF helpline between the hours of 8am and 8pm every day except Christmas day, Boxing day and New Years day.
0845 302 1470 (from within the UK),
00 44 1355 359002 (if calling from abroad), or
0845 302 1489 (for Welsh speakers between 8.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday).

*When they ring you back they will give you the following details
~Company who hold the trust fund and your child’s ref number
~All LAC children no matter what age they go into “Care” get £500 in their trust fund to start them off.

*You need to contact the company who holds your child’s trust fund and explain your situations and they will send you out a “change of registered contact” from- check with them if they need to see the original or a copy of your adoption certificate
