Don't forget the 'Add Bookmark' button so I don't have pages of 'just book marking' posts  ::)

(Then go to the 'My Bookmarks' tab at the top of the page, it won't flag up posts in "show new replies to your posts"  ;)

Thanks for the lovely new home BG. Would you mind changind my EDD please? It says 15/5/11 and it's booked in as the 16/5/11. Thanks. Done :)

It's so exciting that this should be the thread where lots more babies are born! XXX

41, sorry to hear about your worrying day yesterday, but great news that all is well. Hope they let you home soon. We've only done the deed a couple of times since getting pregnant. I'm just too scared of anything happening, though I know they're very well protected in there.

Morning everyone x

Nattee that's wonderful that DP is pretty much back for good this week. What an amazing year you two are going to have!

Hazel - shame about your riding, but it sounds like the time to stop. Hope you're not too sore today. It must be hard having to give up your hobby for a while.

41 - oh you poor thing! I really hope all is well today and they let you out. I guess that's one way to get round the "no maternity unit tours" policy....any feedback about the unit gratefully received. Wonderful that you've got to hear the heartbeat and are getting to know the movements now.

Hope everyone else is well and had lovely weekends.

xx

41 sorry to hear about your trip to the hospital. Glad everythings okay and hope they let you home today to enjoy the sunshine before we lose it!  ^hugme^

Hazel- what a shame you have to give up the horse riding, you sound so passionate about it. I had to give up fitness instructing around 14 weeks as i was too ill to carry on and concerned i couldnt give the classes what they were used to obviously wanting to drop the level of intensity. I miss it soooooo much ive never done it for the money its a labour of love! Good news is its only for a short time and we will have something truly wonderful to make it all worth it at the end of it all. Hope you are not too sore today  ^hugme^

Martine glad you had a lovely weekend.  :)

Thanks for our shiney new home BG. Yes its going to be the home to lots of good news!  ;D

Morning to everyone else. We are really being spoilt with this weather hey?! Long may it continue!! xx

Hi girls.. wow, what an amazing weekend! We had NCT Saturday.. which was brilliant, very practical and also fun! Half the group went to a bar at a nearby beach afterwards to get to know each other better, so that was nice.  :)  Then I got sunburn at a bbq yesterday!  ^idiot^

Yaya - Those active birth classes really do build confidence dont they. I'm with you, after all this prep it will probs be me that has to have the c-section!  ::)  H keeps saying to me now since our class.. half joking.. "you CAN do this, you ARE doing it!"...I hope we can !!  ;)

Liz - I guess you were also worried about the strange 'fit' like symptoms.. did you call the MW about it? Seems it passed and as baby moving well, theres surely nothing to worry about.

41YrdOld.. I am sure that was a scary experience! Thank goodness all ok with baby and are you home now ?? Shame about the sunny weekend being wasted!

...we've also not done it that many times since being pg, mainly cos we did have that bleed early on after ML which freaked H out too much!

Hazel - Wow, I'm impressed you've still been riding as long as you have, thats really cool!

Nattee - Yay, fiance is coming home!! How wonderful for you and so exciting...  ;D

PoohBear - Thats not nice that MIL has shown no interest and never calls you!  ^hugme^

CarrieLou.. I have the same problem, MIL called Friday and told me she was coming to stay on 17th June!! (baby due 8th)... if I'm a few days late, thats a week after its born. I tried to say we didnt want visitors until after H's 2 weeks paternity leave and she said "I'm not waiting 3 months to see my grandchild"!!! I was very stressed about it, but H said, she wont be coming until she's invited... so thats great that your H has put her off and put her straight !! My MIL is exhausting, over bearing and self-involved too.. I try for H's sake, but essentially, we dont see eye to eye at all.

Thanks for all your comments about you and your hubbies... I suppose I am worrying HE will be baby brained and I will feel left out!! I am used to having him all to myself for the past few years as we've had to rely on each other alot since moving to Cornwall.. and then there will be 3. Of course, it will be amazing enjoying this little person that we made and will make me love H even more, if at all possible.. but its a massive, massive life change hey.  ???

Thanks to Liz (?) who said about the 3 for 2 at Boots.. we got an Angelcare monitor, some dummies (NCT lady said to settle to sleep with a dummy to avoid SIDS?) and more babygrows... and using points vouchers, we now have £35 of points !! The Boots card really is the best around isnt it.

Our spare bed is now covered in stuff....but still no nursery room started !!

Hi ladies

BG - thanks for the new home ^hugme^ Would you mind adding me to the list ... my EDD is 11/05/11 and I'm having a lil' boy. Thanks :) All added but didn't have all the right dates so let me know if you want them added :)

Astral - ooh your MIL sounds a bit like mine! I wouldn't mind her coming just for the day to meet the new baby, but to have her stay the night would just be too much. My mum thinks I should put her off until August when LO will be 3 months and hopefully we'll be in some sort of routine by then - my mum has even offered to take MIL to hers for a day or two to share the burden with me!!! I might just be able to cope with that... Sounds like you got some good bargains in Boots, well done you.

41 - sorry to hear you're in hospital, hope they let you out soon! ^hugme^

Hazel - sorry to hear about your riding, but I suppose if it's really hurting you, then it's time to stop. My cousin is pregnant (about 28 weeks now) and is a really sporty type - she's only recently stopped running and cycling! I don't know where she gets the energy from...

What a gorgeous weekend we had, DH and I even managed a BBQ on Saturday night. It's a bit cloudier today so I'm catching up with a few jobs in the house. Hope you are all well, lots of ^hugme^ ^hugme^ ^hugme^ to everyone :)

Morning All, Glad I have the day off work today, it's just taken me ages to catch up but too many pages for personals I'm afraid.

Just noticed my ticker is now under 100 days left, how exciting!!

You are all talking about your MIL - sadly mine doesn't even understand I am pregnant, this is so upsetting for DH.  She has dementure and can't even hold a conversation any more, she just laughs all the time.  She knows her first grandchild, our nephew but doesn't know our neice and can never remember her name so we have no chance with this one.

I'm hoping just seeing a baby will make her happy though,as she does seem to love babies and wants to hold them all the time.

Hope everyone is enjoying this weather, I'm hoping it is the sign if things to come this summer

Jen xx

.. yes I wouldnt mind a day visit too, but as MIL is 250 miles away, thats not possible  H finds her hard work too..but as he only has one parent, I do try really hard with her

BG - Can you alter my due date to 8th June? The Con agreed with me and said the IUI date is more accurate than the dating scan date of 4th (I knew I was right about that!) Done :) Thanks!

OH....MW rang Friday all chipper and excited and said that my Con has said he is happy for me to have a homebirth and was in fact "very positive about it" !! ;D ;D ;D

..cue lots of peeps saying "oh well you'll just get transferred when you need pain relief".. :(

Hey ladies
Well I've been given the all clear and am just waiting to be allowed home. I've been told no more nookie (boo!) and also we were due to go to Florence for a mini break on wed but that's ruled out as well (double boo!)

Best thing is had baby's hb monitored and am now more able to recognise movement. Maternity unit is fine, and at least I know now what to bring in(eg towel as none supplied, shower gel, earplugs as ward can be noisy, eye mask in case they put lights on in middle of night and decent headphones for tv) also liz they sell a day pass for car park at £6 which is much cheaper than having to keep paying hourly rates. And bring your phone charger as had spare plug socket.

Am going to see consultant later in week and also going to see if I can get docs note as been told to take it easy.

Hope all well x

41YON - great news they're letting you home and that all is well. Shame about your trip though. XXX

Martine - I'm booked into the anaesthetic clinic a week before my section to be measured up for an epidural. If you are a larger lady (not that I'm suggesting you are!  ;D ) they may do it as standard for natural births to weigh up your options in a calm environment. XXX

Astral - great news that you've got your homebirth approved. XXX

Jenny - sorry your MIL doesn't understand about the baby. Well done for making the effort on DH's behalf though - it's not easy! XXX

Glamis - hope it's not a UTI. Best to get it checked though. XXX

Carrie Lou - well done on the BBQ, we had one on Sunday and loved being out in the garden.

Nattee - you'll be back at your fitness classes soon. XXX

Hazel - sorry you've had to stop riding, meant to say it sounds like a good thing you're having a section - my NCT teacher was saying that people who ride a lot have very tight pelvic floors so have real problems with natural births. XXX

Love to everyone and hope you're all well. XXXX

Had to pop to the mw this morning at her drop in clinic as my (.)(.) have swollen up over the weekend, even the nipples and I was getting a bit concerned. She says it's fluid retention and to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't turn into mastitus (sp?).

I've finally found out the reason I'm booked in for a section is because they're expecting to have to take him out in a hurry and with little warning so if I do go into labour before the section date I could have a natural birth if I want to. Not sure what to do now, it's such a big decision and I'm back to having choices.  :-\

Hi ladies,

41yon - glad everything is OK, shame you miss out on your minibreak though! Handy that you got some good info about what to bring in your hospital bag too, I'm wondering whether our hospital does a pass like that for the car park now, must remember to ask when we go for parentcraft classes!

daxcat - sometimes it's easier not to have a choice isn't it!! Good that it's still an option to have a natural birth though? I had my first experience of swelling this weekend - just very slight in my ankles and hands, think it was probably the heat. Glad you've got yours checked out, sounds more significant than mine, hope it doesn't get any worse for you ^reiki^

Astral - that's fab news you're all approved for the homebirth, and don't listen to the negative people! I reckon you'll be just fine :) That's good the consultant backed you up on the IUI date - my due date in my notes is still two days out and physically impossible ;D , I'll just be ready to argue the toss if it comes to induction dates

Jenny - I noticed my ticker was less than 100 days the other day too - told DH and his face was a picture ;D

Glamis - hope the pain goes away, wise to get it checked out ^hugme^

carrie lou - well done on putting your foot down about MIL! Very wise :)

hazel - shame to have to stop the riding, but you need to listen to your body so you're doing the right thing. Not quite the same, but I really miss my bike! Walking seems so slow when I used to nip around everywhere on my bike, and now the weather's nice I really miss mountain biking... :(

nattee - great you're getting DP back at last, not long now! :)

Liz - wow, sounds like you had a weird experience there, but as long as all is good now I'm sure there's nothing to worry about. Yes, I got the same CDs you mentioned, can't wait for them to arrive so I can try them out! I know what you mean about mattresses, they all seemed designed to make you feel like you have to buy the most expensive one possible don't they!

squidgely - great to hear a natural birth is still a possibility, but they've got everything planned for you just in case, sounds like you're being well looked after.

yaya - great to hear how good the active birth classes are, am looking forward to the one I'm booked onto in May. Great that it's making you feel more confident about the birth.

All this talk of MILs makes me realise how lucky I am - I get on really well with mine - she's 83, super-independent and a very clever lady, has a much busier social life than I've ever had! She's about 20 mins drive away, so no issues about her needing to come to stay either. My parents are planning on coming to stay locally for about a week when LO arrives, but they'll stay in a hotel so they don't get under our feet (we don't have much room!), and I've already warned them they'll be on shopping and cleaning duty while me and DH chill with LO. Suppose I'd better let them have some cuddles with him though ;D ;D

Had a lovely sunny weekend, shame the rain's turned up now. Went to Boots this morning and got my freebie changing bag, pleased with that! Didn't manage to buy anything else though, had a look around and got all overwhelmed again, still find it really hard to buy stuff! Never mind, still got around 14 weeks to go yet, and I am starting to do some proper research into prams now, measuring our tiny car boot and working out which ones will actually fit in there! Don't think we'll have an enormous amount of choice, which is probably a good thing ;D ;D

Thanks Gibs and thats exactly why I was pleased.. Con suggested inducing me at EDD +10, so moving my EDD to the 8th buys me 4 more days. I dont want to be induced, as long as baby ok.

I got overwhelmed with what to buy too, but once you start ticking stuff off, it gets easier! Yes and my feet and ankles were a bit swollen this weekend too, defo the heat hey.

Daxcat.. Would you rather have a natural birth? Can you ask them to move the C back a little, as long as your BP ok and babies heart ok etc?? It is stressful when you dont know where you are giving birth, I felt that until the decision was made that we'll be at home. Sorry about your (.)(.), sounds sore  ^hugme^

41YrOld.. great news you are all ok and shame on the holiday but yes, take it easy !

Just popped on to tell you all that Waitrose are doing 1/3 off baby products at the moment. Definitely nappies and lotions/potions, not sure what else.

But i can't help catching up with everyone whilst here!

Astral - I'm glad NCT was sociable. It sounds like you need to build up a network of local people having moved there, so it'll be invaluable. Yes it was the 'fit' like thing that was bothering me, but all does seem fine, so going to try not to worry. Glad you got some stuff in Boots. Thrilled you've been given the go-ahead for home birth. That's wonderful on two counts a) what you want b) gives positive signal about the fact that labour should be fine for you.

Glamis - hope you don't have a UTI and pain goes away.

41 - pleased you've been given the all-clear. Thanks so much for all the tips about the mat unit. I wonder whether they ever get round to telling you these things themselves?

Daxcat - a choice is good really. Hope it becomes clearer once you've had a chance to think about it all.

Gibs - sorry you're still struggling with making those purchases. I'm sure you'll get there.

xx

Astral - really great news about the home birth  :) :)  how exciting.

41yroldnewbie - glad you are both home safely  :) ^hugme^  - but sorry about your Florence mini break  :-\  - I guess it's better to err on side of caution, so do take it easy.  Thanks for insight into the maternity unit though and tips on what to bring.  I'll pack a towel and good point about phone charger - I wouldn't have remembered it! Day pass good too as it costs loads when I go for antenatal.  Can you buy them in advance do you know?
Carrie Lou - so good that DH stands up to overbearing MIL.  It's the last thing you are going to want.  Hopefully when she does come it will be short and sweet.

Pooh Bear - glad you've been enjoying the sun and got lots of lovely baby things ready - how exciting.

Love to all

I need a hug  :'(

DH is being a  ^pig^

He is now talking about being too busy to be at the birth saying his work and customers is more important than me and LO. :'( :'( :'( They were more important when my other baby died too :'( :'( :'(

What am I going to have to do to get support for once in my life?
I am getting to the point where I feel I don't want him at the birth or in my life, full stop. He has had too many chances.

Morning ladies, thanks for all your messages.

Hazel hon that's horrible, am sending massive hugs your way. I can't understand why he is behaving like that, is it because he is scared? Whatever the reason you don't need that. Is there someone else you could ask to be birthing partner, you shouldn't be on your own. Big hugs.

Afm, well have to say that so far this third trimester sucks! After the hospital saga, last night was sick 3 times during the night with bad stomach pains, what's that all about? It's the first time this pregnancy I've been sick, I know I shouldn't complain but why now? Is it cos of the low lying placenta? All theries gratefully received.

No chance of a lie in tOday as decorator starts at 8. Good job I've got rest of week off though.

Ps liz and Rebs, re the parking tickets might be worth asking maternity unit if you can buy them in advance. Thinking about it there did seem to be a cupboard full of towels when I left but noone offered me one. I will still bring one of mine in as I think it's nicer to have your own.

Hazel -  ^hugme^ ^hugme^ ^hugme^ ^hugme^ ^hugme^ So sorry to hear what your DH said. You definitely shouldn't be on your own at a time like this, is there anyone else you can ask to support you and be there at the birth? A close friend perhaps? I can only hope your DH will be a little more supportive when LO arrives. You poor thing, that seems really mean of him.  ^hugme^ ^hugme^ ^hugme^ ^hugme^

41YON - maybe you have some sort of bug that's making you be sick? Glad you're home from hospital anyway and you and LO are OK and that you are getting to know the movements better. ^hugme^

Pooh bear - well done on doing all your washing, I have finally done all mine too thanks to the great weather. It was so sweet to see all the cloth nappies hanging on the line! ^hugme^

LizE - my DH found out about the Waitrose offer too and we stocked up on disposable nappies (for use in the early days before I get to grips with the cloth ones!) ^hugme^

Bubblicious - hope you're feeling better ^hugme^

Astral - great news that you can have your home birth ^hugme^

Jenny - sorry to hear about your MIL, that is really sad. But it's nice that she likes babies so much so hopefully you will be able to connect with her that way. ^hugme^

Gibs - good idea getting your parents to cook and shop for you  ;D My mum has been very good too, said she would come round and clean and iron for me if I wanted her to - I said, can you start now? ;D ;) ^hugme^

Glammis - hope you're feeling OK now ^hugme^

AFM - DH had a rough day at work yesterday, he's had some issues with his boss and they had a meeting to sort it out, everything seems to be fine now. But it wasn't until it was over that I realised how anxious we had both been about it. DH seemed really down last night and got a bit tearful and said he was anxious about the baby and wants baby to see him as his dad (we used donor sperm so there is an issue there). I asked him what exactly he was worried about but he said he wasn't sure. I hate seeing him upset and got very tearful myself. :'(  But he says he is happy about the baby and looking forward to meeting him. I just don't know how to help him or make him feel better. :-\ I tried to say he was already being a good dad by looking after us but I couldn't seem to find the right words.

We have our first antenatal class tonight so I'm hoping that will help to put his mind at ease. ^reiki^
