My Surrogacy Journey - Shock natural bfp while d/r

Just a quick one to say that I haven't forgotten everyone here. My little girl is now 6 and a half months old and I'm in the process of weaning her. I have managed to exclusively breastfeed her up until this point but she is taking really well to solids (we're going down the baby led weaning route), so I'm not sure how much longer she'll want boobs for. :-D

Anyway, for our sins, we are now TTC number 2! Greedy or what? We're not getting our hopes up but I knew if we didn't try in the year following DD's birth I would regret it (apparently fertility is heightened in the year following a birth).

We also have the two frosties, so if nothing happens naturally by November (a year since DD was born and also my 40th) we'll put those back and hope for the best!

...so I'm now trying to get back to my pre pregnancy weight (6kg away) and am back on the everything free wagon. I've already started training and walking again but the weight is being very stubborn. I thought breastfeeding was supposed to help but instead it's making it more difficult *sigh* - anyway, I have 11 weeks until I see Dr M again about the diet so it's nose to the grindstone!

I'll be checking in on everyone to see how you're all doing - you have been warned! :D

Just a quick update as we are now approaching Niamh's first birthday.  She is doing brilliantly and I couldn't be happier.  We decided not to continue TTC naturally as, after only a few months of ov testing then waiting for AF and negative HPT's, all the horrible old feelings came back.  I found my stress levels increasing and the familiar feelings of disappointment at the end of every month were taking their toll, so we decided just to enjoy our beautiful baby girl and forget about having a second one - after all, we are so very, very lucky to have her so we don't want any of her life to be shrouded in worry, etc., trying for a second.

In terms of my weight, I have managed to lose all of my pregnancy weight (plus another few kilos) but I still have loads to go until my goal weight.  I've decided to focus on that for now as my health is even more important now that I'm a mother.  For the most part I've been sticking to 'everything free' but I haven't had a chance to get to Dr M since February.  We're off home to Aus in 5 weeks so I'll see him when we get back.

We are still looking to do the frosties early next year but are now at peace with the probability of them not working.  I thought after so long, we really owed it to them to give them a try.  We were going to put them back in our surrogate but we decided that actually, we may as well put them back in me.

Back from Australia and back to my pre pregnancy weight (those few extra kilos I'd lost crept back on during the holiday!).

We've decided to postpone the frosties until June as, after the pregnancy, the urinary retnention and all my weight/plyometric training, I'm suffering the joy of a prolapsed uterus (...and rectum...and bladder).  I'm going to see a specialist this week to see what that may mean in terms of any possible future pregnancies. *sigh*  It never ends!

I also want to wait until I'm at my goal weight/health before trying the frosties - so yeah, another 6 months should do it.  More to come soon!

...oh yes, and I forgot to mention that Niamh took her first independent steps while on holiday with my parents, so they got to experience the joy of seeing her walk for the first time.  Fast forward another 3 weeks and she's almost running everywhere now!

So it seems I need to start a new diary as, rather unexpectedly, I have just had another natural bfp.  I'm going to start a new diary in the 'TTC naturally' section as I don't feel that it's appropriate to continue in this forum.

My new diary if anyone is interested:  https://www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=339368.0
