BFP - Due Date November/December 2013 - Part 6

**In response to member comments we are changing the titles of the new BFP threads to reflect due date as not everyone gets their BFP at exactly the same point. The threads will now also be bi-monthly (i.e. in two monthly groupings) as it will help to keep the chat relevant to any given stage of pregnancy (or newborn development - the birth threads will adopt this approach too)**
Congratulations and welcome to your new home :) Please let me know your first scan and due date for the list :) Happy chatting :-* :-*

Sorry I've not been on much. Life with a newborn is surreal and every moment is taken up with Charlie one way or another. Been reading bits when I can though and thinking of you. Loving all the baby news

#6 ·
Ruby jean- that's so cute of your ds. Really thoughtful bless him! Happy birthday x

Hey deb, nice to hear from you! Seems like your settling in to motherhood. It's so close for all of us but I can't imagine it yet... Are you getting some sleep? Does he get through tons of nappys a day? Any tips for us?
X

Love the quiz- I had a few ideas but they've been guessed x

Fuming!
Was woken up at 2.30am by the door bell going.... I'm scared thinking omg who's this what's happening....
No one there...
It goes again....
No one there....
Then notice a big wet patch by the front door and realise there's a big leak coming from the ceiling dripping on to the door bell....
The bedroom above is the nursery!  :( just had my carpet laid Saturday and the radiator has been leaking and the room is soaking wet. So ****** off. The person decorating didn't do up the radiator so it must have been leaking for a week!
It's just one thing after another  :'(
Now sitting up on "operation bowl change" till we can get a plumber in at a reasonable hour!

Deep breath....

Cheer me up.... Any babies being born right now? Any waters breaking?
Exciting times ahead x

#9 ·
Rainbow- grr, how annoying and upsetting! I hope you can get a plumber in first thing this morning.

Good luck for today Dingle

Ruby- how sweet of your ds. Happy birthday x x

Deb- great to hear from you. I can only imagine how surreal it is to have a newborn. I think it's going to take me a long while to believe it's really happening even after giving birth. I still have to check my bumps still there every morning. Give Charlie big kisses from us all x x

#10 ·
Rainbow thats so annoying!  ^bigbad^ can you make a complaint? No babies imminent here (but that's a good thing). I did get given a special gold star for still going to prenatal aerobics yesterday though, when I'm heading towards 36 weeks  :)

To cheer you up, here is the suggestion that the spell checker on my kindle comes up with for rainbow princess... equivalence. Oh, that's really boring, sorry....  :-[

#11 ·
Rainbow-Sorry to hear that hun

Dingle-Good luck today hun x

#12 ·
Rainbow.  What a rubbish start to the day for you. Hoping that you can claim off the decorator or at least home insurance to make your nursery lovely again.

I was up from 2.45am unable to sleep.  Wide awake grr.

Rainbow - what a pain, is there much damage?

Dingle - good luck for today. Can't wait to hear your news.

It's getting exciting now all these babies being born, I was watching fertility week yesterday on this morning thinking how blessed I am to be in this position.

I had my 'non- baby shower' on Sunday, it was lovely just 25 family & friends having girly chats eating cake!! I was given a voucher for a beauty salon & a pandora charm with 'Mum' on it from everyone! 37 weeks today!!!

Hope everyone else is well xx

#14 ·
Rainbow - that's frustrating but try not to stress, you'll get it sorted.

Dingle - good luck  :).

MT - glad you enjoyed your (non) baby shower - sounds fun!

Afm - went for a membrane sweep yesterday but nothing has happened yet so not particularly hopeful. It was a bit nippy but not too bad and didn't take long, just held DH's hand and concentrated on my breathing. I'm booked in for an induction on my due date (10th). I would like to go before this but at least I know I won't need to wait much longer. At the antenatal class last night the midwife dismissed hot curry, pineapple etc but did say that sex could help things a long! The antenatal classes have been good so far but last night there was a really noisy girl who kept dominating the class and interrupting the midwife and kept going on about her needle phobia, and different aches and pains, grrr! I'm all for asking questions but people need to know when to listen!

Hope everyone is doing well today. xxx

No1rainbowprincess I think Glsmith & I were both woken by your doorbell!  :) I was awake at 2.30 as well and struggled for ages to get back to sleep. Hope you get the nursery sorted soon, very frustrating indeed.

I'm off to prepare bags for hospital today. One task at a time.

Hope it goes well today Vicky & Dingle.

Laura good to hear membrane sweep wasn't too painful & enjoy that sex!!

Love to all.

Connie - I just nearly spat my tea all over my computer!!! Ugh, that is truly grim! I think I'd read that somewhere before but it didn't help the horror of reading your post  ;D ;D ;D

Dingle, best of luck today  ^hugme^

Vicky - let us know how you get on  ^hugme^

Laura - I can't remember if I said it before but I swear that acupuncture can get things moving. And reflexology if you're not keen on acupuncture?

No1rainbowprincess - sorry about your bad night, how annoying for you  :( Hope you get it sorted soon without too much stress  ^hugme^

Madam Twinky-  non baby shower sounds lovely  :)

Glsmith - hope you manage to get in a nap today  ^hugme^

Wanderer - enjoy packing your bags, I did mine again yesterday, its very satisfying! I've just realised I need to pack one for my ds in case I go in to labour and we need to drop him to the neighbours at short notice.

Rubyjean - happy birthday!

Slight panic here... just come home from work as suddenly had stomach pains. I think it is probably the iron tablets but while they've given me indigestion before they haven't caused me pain before. It comes and goes in waves so I've phoned the midwives office and they think it's the iron tablets too. So have taken a Gaviscon and am just waiting for it to work its magic...

Rainbow - No major tips as your little person will come out with their own ideas. I would say limit visitors and/or ask them to keep visits short as it's quite hard to work out what's going on with lots of people. I would also say don't make any plans for a while as it's a bit like living in a different world which bears no resemblance to your old one and changes at a moments notice. That said I have a very big greedy boy and I've struggled to keep up with the breastfeeding demand. Others may find it all a breeze. On the feeding note once my milk came in Charlie struggled to latch on. Nipple shields are a godsend. He gets a perfect latch every time now. Enjoy the first few days with your little ones as they are the quietest!

Been meaning to ask- who's DH or DP was guessing the gender from the 4d scan pics? Just thought it would be nice to know how many he got right/wrong. He got mine wrong but all of the others.....

#20 ·
Rockandrose - hope you're ok, rest as much as you can and call your midwives again if the pain doesn't stop  ^hugme^ ^hugme^

Deb - great tips, the visits are so tiring. I found nipple shields a godsend too, it helped us get the hang of it. Big boys are hungry, I hope your supply keeps up for him, you're doing a great job mama!  ^hugme^

#21 ·
Staly - could you update the front page for me, there are 2 entries - my username used to be Rachelhudson - Thankyou :)

Make sure you get more nappies than you think you will need!! Jacob is a prince but Finn poo's about 3 times an hour!!!! Also agree with Deb, nipple shields are a godsend!! X

Having a bit of a wobble. :( Had a scan yesterday and there is an increased blood flow to the baby's brain. It indicates that she is not getting enough oxygen/nutrients elsewhere so the body is directing its resources to the brain to protect it. I'm in for a rescan with the consultant tomorrow who will decide whether to be induced or to get the baby out there and then via C section. I assume they will opt for getting her out as I am technically full term but I'm panicking pretty badly. :( Everyone keeps saying to relax as I am full term but it gives me absolutely no comfort. I just want her to be ok.

#23 ·
MandyPandy, sorry to read of your news. At least you've been having regular scans so they were able to pick this up. I'm sure the consultant will be able to give you some answers and hopefully reassure you, but I can understand why you feel alarmed. Sending hugs your way and hope you can hang on in there for some good news and keeping my fingers crossed that all will be well for your little girl. ^hugme^

On the topic of nipple shields ladies, can someone tell me what brand they're using and why they're helpful?

Just want to know if I should buy some in advance...

Thanks!
xxx

#24 ·
can I ask where did you get the nipple shields from and what size would you get? I wanted to get some just in case as a back up. xx Hope everyone is doing well, x

Mandypandy sorry to hear about your baby. Hopefully the consultant can reassure you tomorrow. x

#25 ·
^hugme^  Mandy, I am sure all will be ok, but can fully understand why you are so concerned, will be thinking of you xxx

#26 ·
Mandypandy fingers crossed for scan tomorrow. At least they've picked it up x big hug x

Rnr you might have jinxed yourself this morn. Hopefully it is just down to iron tablets and not bubs ready to make appearance yet xxx
