Hi ladies
This may be a bit of a long shot but was wondering if there was anyone out there who had experience or have info on either of the above. Is micro flare the same as a short flare?

Basically, we are looking to commence our 3rd cycle and we have seen 2 consultants from 2 different clinics and got 2 different approaches. I been a poor responder in my previous cycles (Menopur and Cetrotide) so was keen to improve the number of follicles and mature eggs a collection.

One of consultants has also recommended IMSI to help pick out the better sperm due to issues with sperm motility and combine with a micro flare with LH whilst the other consultant suggested using testogel prior to stimms. Both clinics have suggested a change to Gonal F for a new cycle.

It's so difficult to decide how to proceed so any information or experience would be helpful.

    Hi
Wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this? As an update we wen with the new clinic on the short flare protocol - had my 5 day scan on Friday and it wasn't good looks like 1 definite egg and 1 other maybe out of 6 as seen on my baseline scan. I am trying to stay positive as I know we only need 1 good embryo so as long as they fertilise and they're good enough to place back. Still difficult though especially as my husband is assuming it's already failed.

    Hi Toughcookie,
I only just seen this so not sure if it will be of any use.
I had 3 previous failed ICSI cycles using short flare and long protocol using both Menopur and Gonal F, unfortunately these cycles failed  >:(

I then got my thyroid checked, seen an endocrinologist and realised I had high prolactin. I was put on both bromocriptine and thyroxine to control my hormones.
I then went to a different clinic in a different part of the UK who recommended the testosterone gel, I was a bit alarmed but I went with it.
We now have a 13 month old daughter who has made us the happiest mummy and daddy ever.
I wish you the very best of luck and if you want to ask me anything about the gel feel free.
    Best wishes

    Hi Cheekypants
That is really interesting, I have to be honest I did think it was a bit random and we decided to go with the short flare and IMSI method. We didn't recruit more follies/eggs as wed hoped for but are currently in our 2ww as did get 1 strong embie transferred back on day 2.  ^pray^

Out of interest by using the gel did you have more follies than previous attempt?

    Hello,
Best of luck with ur little embie on board  ^reiki^  Great news !
Yes, I did recruit more follies after using the Testogel it was just unfortunate that they were unable to reach my left ovary.... But that doesn't matter now.
We are thinking about going again soon as I am not getting any younger. I wouldn't hesitate to do the Testogel protocol again, I completely trust the consultant that recommended it.
    Best wishes
