Hiya ladies! Sorry I've  not been on here for while but I'm back at work full time now, nausea and vomiting went but shortly after I started having really bad headaches that particularly affected the back of my eyes so Any bright lights and looking at screens have been a no-no for me. They have  faded now thank goodness! And im finally feeling normal again! just really growing in size now. I have my scan in a couple if weeks (21 weeks) feeling slightly anxious just hoping everything will be ok. a boy would be nice so I will have one of each but if it's a girl then my daughter will be happy as she would really like a sister so a girl would be lovely for her. Hope everyone is ok and congratulations to the ladies  that have recently joined the thread and I will have a good read back later to catch up. X

Congrats Twinkle! Glad the nausea's gone

Have any of you ladies been referred to see an obstetrician? My midwife referred me to be seen at 16 weeks (next tues), should I be worried?  :-\

Hello sm89, to you and your wiggling baby boy.  :)

MissSD -A4d scan would give you a glimpse of what your babe will look like. It would be like having a sneak preview as you could potentially infer their gender from the facial appearance.  With my friends 4D scan, he was definitely all boy, whereas it was not so clear with another friends girl.

Twinkle -youíve come so far, whatís another 14 sleeps, not to long to wait now... :) good to hear you are feeling better.

Long winding - could it be to check your cervix, Assess for a low dose aspirin for prescription / risk of preeclampsia ?im just wondering over routine considerations that would need an obstetrician sign off. As your midwife hasnít mentioned any reason to you, I canít see it being any thing more than precaution. Why not call her and ask, just for some peace of mind x

Been quiet lately, full on at work and our daughter has been in hospital for a fracture and repair. All settled down now painwise  for her.
I couldnít find a  heartbeat the last time I used the Doppler. At the 16 week midwife appointment today, she was able to locate them both- instantly!! And lots of movement . Yay!

    Lovely hearing everyoneís news.
I am 17 weeks now. I had a midwife appointment on Monday and heard a heartbeat for each twin, which was reassuring. We have booked a private scan just for reassurance as it seemed too long to wait til March 19th, which was the next hospital one. I am getting pretty huge.
I hope you are all ok x

I wouldn't worry long and winding....some hospitals refer all ivf patients to be consultant led.  Or if you've anything in your gynaebhistory, like fibroids or endo ...or other generic things like high blood pressure.  Try to think of it as a good thing...it means that you will have two pairs of eyes managing your pregnancy one of whom has a very high level of specialism, I'm sure you will come out feeling reassured.

In any event, I would still call to find out why...it'll help you prepare mentally for it and make it a much better consultation.

Fave coulour blue, so reassuring hearing those heartbeats. We are so close in dates and you must be 3/4 days ahead of me. :) im massive too , can't zip my coats up so brought a massive fur one, two sizes too big from a charity shop to get through warm until the spring.

I'm  16+3 and found out we are having a boy and a girl. Over the moon. They were both wriggling like crazy, the girl waving and kicking her long legs at her brother who was squished. He was having none of it and booting her back 😂

Starting to mentally visualise the nursery now and allow browsing of baby stuff. Will wait until 28 weeks to buy. Roll on now :)

Hope everyone is ok too. How are your bumps coming along?

Twinkletoes - glad to hear nausea went but how annoying it was replaced with awful sounding headaches! Wow nearly 20 weeks already! 😮 Are you finding out the gender at your next scan then?

Longwindingroad - No Iíve not been referred for that. Did you find out what its all about yet?

Dreamer - haha good to hear your twinnoís are very active! Hopefully all the kicking each other isnt a sign for when they arrive! 🙈 Did you get a private scan to find out the gender so early on?

Favcolourblue - glad all is still going well with your twinnoís as well! 😊

AFM - Iíve been doing acupuncture in an attempt to reduce the nausea and help me sleep better. Things are definitely improving 😊 Iíve also started suffering with really bad acid reflux recently. Anyone else getting that? Iíve googled if I can take gavicon and it doesnt seem like a problem. Has anyone else taken it? Apart from all the side effects babies are doing well and Iím 16 and half weeks now 😁 xox

    Hello all,

Glad you are all getting along nicely!

i had my consultnats appointment last week and though i would copy the email that i sent to my parents - it made them laugh... x

Firstly they were running an hour late. Chris was fuming and wanted to complain. We were seen for approximately 5 minutes. I managed to stop him but steam was coming out his ears at one point.

Because im old we get lots of growth scans from 28 weeks every 3 weeks or so. We will have the scan then see the consultant straight after to tell us if it is ok or not.

I will be induced on my due date if I haven't already had it - because im old.

I am at high risk of about 5 nasty things I could get - because im old.

The breathlessness I have been having is ok as long as there is no chest pain or palpitations or dizziness. She thinks its due to fitness level and because im old.

Are you seeing a pattern here? I nearly punched her.

She commented on how long we had been trying for a family - meaning ages, then started banging on about my age?!!!  I felt like saying if the NHS had done a better job 6 years ago in doing all the fertility investigations I wouldn't be SO OLD! - wish i reminded her we are STILL on the NHS waiting list for donor eggs THREE YEARS LATER.

it was the sympathetic look she gave me as she mentioned my age that did my head in!

So that was it really everything is ok at the moment but they will keep an eye on me. As you can probably tell I didn't warm to her much.

Chris thinks im overreacting but hes not the one they are calling OLD.

    VGOFYO

(Very grumpy old forty year old)

ps) on better note my weight gain is bang on as it should be 8lb  and nearly half way through pregnancy but i COULD put on THREE STONE?????????????? That can be normal????????????! So really looking forward to that.

When this baby is nearly here im gong to be 3 stone heavier with gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, placenta problems and knocking on forty one!!

    CANT WAIT!!!

Sally - That sounds very annoying!  ^bigbad^ Hope you are ok!

Annilee - No experience of acid reflux so far for me sorry! Hope it eases for you soon.

Dreamer - Wow lovely news a boy and a girl! Have you started thinking of names yet?  :) Exciting

Favouritecolourblue - It is so lovely hearing the heartbeat. I know what you mean about the break in between scans. Our next one isn't until 15th of March which feels like forever away! Wish we could have one every fortnight just for the reassurance.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. I'm 15+2 today and feeling alright other than some pains over the weekend. Think it's round ligament pain, nothing too bad just uncomfortable more than anything. And I still can't stop the shopping for baby clothes. Is anyone else having this problem! x

Sally - hasn't made you feel old by any chance?!  ;D honestly, sometime I think these professionals could have a refresher in bedside manners!

SM89 - I daren't buy anything yet! Think i'll wait till after the 20 week scan.

Thanks for the reassurance on the appointment ladies - met with the obstetrician today and it was just because i'd had IVF and miscarried. All looks fine though and heard the baby's heartbeat again  :) so now back under the care of the midwife. 16 weeks today woohoo! xx
