That is the sweetest thing ever Tarapt!  Serious brownie points for your DH :-)

I've spent my mother's day throwing up and wondering what I was thinking of doing this!!  Hope it's going better for everyone else xxx

Thank goodness your scan went okay following the bleed Madame G. My last two scans showed something (probably a haematoma like yourself) and they have told me to prepare for a bleed.

I hope you're alright Neniel with your husband being away?

I'm feeling similar to you expatmum2, with nausea making me not want to eat a variety of food. Don't even get me started on the smell of cooking. Yuck! At the moment I seem to be obsessed with bread, potatoes and cheese and that's about it. I keep getting headaches too. I'm praying that the placenta takes over soon and gives me a break from these symptoms. Like you say - it's hard to imagine being normal or having any energy ever again! The only thing is, I haven't actually been sick like I see you have.  :(  I hope your scan goes well on Thurs.

Your hubby sounds so sweet tarapt.  :)

AFM - I'll be about 10/11 weeks on Tues and although I've already told a few people then sworn them to secrecy, I don't particularly feel bothered about announcing. I'm not really sure why. Is anyone else like this? Last time I was pregnant so many people said 'I really hope it works out for you', and I didn't like it. Silly, I know but why not just say congratulations and leave it at that? Saying I hope it works out for you sounds so negative!!! xx

I'm finding this waiting for the second scan worse than the TWW. When we had the first scan we found out it's twins and now I am so worried to lose one or both of them. Can't afford a private scna. I don't really have a reason, as I haven't had any cramping or bleeding/spotting. I don't really have any symptoms either, though, other than being constantly hungry and tired. It doesn't really help that my husband is away. I'm just so worried, I want them both to be ok. It's silly really to worry with no reason...

    Good morning everyone!

Hazyshade: how did your midwife appointment go? I hope she is nice!

tarapt: I have just started to think about maternity clothes (changed job since my previous pregnancy so I don't have anything appropriate!) and am a bit swamped too... And well done to your DH! Very impressed (does he give lessons? My DH might need a refresher tutorial ;)  )

Neniel: how is the itchiness going? The 12 weeks scan is the dating scan (i.e. when they give you your official due date). You can also have the trisomies screening, but if you decline it they will simply look at little one and check their length and whether they look healthy. I had mine on Friday and didn't have the screening because we had harmony: they showed us baby's brain, arms, legs, beating heart, and measured the length.

Jessica: I am so sorry about the other twin, but at least little one is growing! Nausea, fatigue et al are a pain, but definitely worth it!!! Announcing is always tricky...I have told family, a couple of close friends and my boss, but don't know if/how to go beyond that. I also have a dear friend who is really really struggling with fertility issues (has recently been told she needs ED) because of cancer treatment: we don't speak often and she lives in a different country but I know the news will hurt her so I am sort of holding off...

hazyshade: Even knowing the date of conception there is some uncertainty on the date of implantation, which can move the EDD around: that's why they use measurements at 12 weeks to get a reliable EDD. That said, little ones do whatever they want, and +/- 2 weeks from the EDD are all fair game!

MadameG: Sorry to hear you had another big bleed, though good that the scan was fine!

expatmum: I hope you enjoyed your holiday! I think my nausea and fatigue are starting to improve (I did throw up on Friday, but haven't been to bad since) so there is light at the end of the tunnel!

AFM - Had our dating scan on Friday, so now have an official due date of 18th September 2018. At 1230 we have our second (NT) scan at the Fetal Medicine Centre, and we'll go through our harmony results (even though we know they are fine) and possibly find out little one's gender...excited! Nausea is improving, and fatigue too I think (though I am still really really tired).

    hello All,

sorry for lack of personals - super busy work day...

Just got back from mammoth appointment at the hospital...Long appointment with the consultant who gave us a bonus scan and baby gave us a high five before doing a flip - so sweet! As I have an abnormal uterus I have to have a cervix scan every two weeks! Ugh. And as I have a a strange heart 'thing' (not really a diagnosis but an abnormal ECG) i have to have appointment with the cardio specialist too. Plus all the extra scans and doctors appointments for being high risk due to age... I might as well just live at the hospital!! oh well - I am v lucky they are monitoring me so carefully so i shouldn't complain. And consultant says if everything looks good at 36 weeks i can try for a natural birth so that is good news.... Plus she thinks my cervix is quite long anyway so i probably won't need a stitch. hooray!

For those still suffering with nausea, I thought I was finally over mine and then at 14 weeks it came back with a vengeance. I threw up 6 times in one night and the retching was so violent I burst loads of blood vessels in my face. Poor-feeling-sorry-for-myself-me. I am better now though and really hope that was its last stand... although I have said that before....

Hi All...just come back from the scan!

Claudia: Booo to nausea coming back...I do hope it has left you for good now! All the extra monitoring is frustrating, but at least you know little one is well looked after!

AFM - Just come back from the scan at the FMC. Such a massive difference between this one and the NHS one on Friday...so much better! They've looked at the anatomy in detail (even counted the fingers on each hand!), checked the blood flow through heart, liver, kidneys and umbilical cord, verified the presence of the bladder, checked the spine and the hard palate...
Anyway, everything looks brilliant! They also do the NT combined screening (risk came back as <1/4000 or so), in addition to harmony (risk <1/10000 for us)...Soin summary everything looks as good as it can. Little one was bouncing around all the time, making it really hard on the sonographer (but that meant it took longer so we could look at her to our hearts' content).
And we are expecting a little girl! Over the moon! As long as baby was healthy I would have been happy, but having a DS and now a daughter is double exciting!

It's natural to worry Neniel. I think these type of thoughts every day. I wish I didn't but I can't help myself. To reassure you, when I lost twin two I had some bad cramping and all my symptoms disappeared for a few days. I knew at least one had gone and I suspected both had.

I can see why you're holding off telling your friend LunaWop. I also have one that I'm holding off telling too. Congratulations on finding out it's a girl! You're making me excited for my Harmony Test now. Or at least the 4D scan bit! With ours we're having everything done all in one sitting then the results are e-mailed to us. I'm guessing yours was a bit different as you had a scan today? Or is this an extra scan?

Your scan sounds so good Claudia H. I would have wanted to video that!

AFM - I'm eating an ice lolly in a bid to combat the usual 5/5.30pm nausea that I get.  :(

    Hi Jessica,

I think it might be a bit different. This time we decided to go for the early pregnancy harmony package at the fmc. With it we got a viability scan at week 10-11 (just a quick basic scan  confirming pregnancy and heartbeat), as well as all the bloods taken. At week 12-13 we got the results as well as the (incredibly detailed) scan. Considering the 2 scans and the test it's not too expensive (though still £400) but well worth them for peace of mind!

Where are you having harmony? When is the test? Will be keeping my fingers crossed!

Ours is with Ultrasound Direct and we have it booked for the end of March (I'll be 12/13 weeks). It's £399.00 and is called a NIPT + Scan. It includes the Harmony prenatal blood test (NIPT), a 2D ultrasound scan (inc prints), sexing and a 4DFREEVIEW with 3D ultrasound prints.

They said I could go from 10 weeks on but the 4DFREEVIEW is only available from 12 weeks so we decided to wait. Do you think I've done the right thing waiting?

    xx
