Welcome & Congratulations on your new BFP ^wave^

This is a thread designed to support you through those early days of pregnancy where it all still feels a bit unbelievable. You've got the 2WW out the way but you've now got another few weeks until the early scan and symptom spotting or in many cases lack of symptoms drives you a bit bonkers.

This is a first stepping stone into the pregnancy threads before you feel ready to join a due date thread.

Bossy - I'm so sorry to hear that, fingers toes and everything crossed for you that it's nothing to worry about and your scan goes well. Sending you all the positive thoughts I can xxx

Honeybee - that's wonderful news :)

MrsC - my scan is at 9.45am on the 13th. What time's yours?

Oh Bossy- you poor thing!!! Have everything crossed for you and really hope it’s ok xx

Honeybee, glad to hear it and look forward to your update later xx

MrsC, yes it will odd in a way doing tummy scans & NHS ones won’t it. We know they are girls because we had our embryos PGS tested so have known the sex from the start, either way we would have found out with the harmony results. It’s lovely to know actually.
You are doing really well keeping those nerves at bay.

Toffee- best of luck for thurs, it’s awful seeing any coloured discharge, I really hope all is ok xx

Scan was on ladies. I saw the baby kicking and moving for the first time today so that was lovely. Measuring ok and heart beat ok. Once again they don't know the cause this because everything seems ok. I'll do personals tomorrow,  I just don't have any energy left in me

Evening ladies

Bossy - how are you this evening?

AFM - I had a Dr Appointment this evening, just to book a bloody test in as I wanted to get my thyroid checked as Iv been on Thyroxine this time to lower it and help me get pregnant, an I gave my go letter about the 9w scan I had, he asked how far I was, an then asked if I wanted to hear the heart beat! I was like yes please! He said not to worry if we don’t find it as might not be able to.
Anyway after a few nervous moments an finding my heart beat we heard the babies. It’s made us feel much better.

Honeybee & Bossy - just quickly logged on to see how you both got on with your scans today. So pleased it went well for both of you & that your little ones are progressing as they should😊 xx

Bossy- so relieved! What a rollercoaster you are on, I do hope these bleeds stop for you soon. Hoping you get a good rest tonight.

MrsC- hurrah for hearing the heartbeat again! Hope the thyroid is ok, will they just keep you on thyroxine if needed? Interestingly, based on the Chinese calendar & ramzi mine would still be girls 😊

Xx

Mrsfw - Thank you, oh yay that’s good to hear! 2 of my friends checked with their little an it was correct as well, so It might be right!
So when I started this cycle I had my thyroid checked and it was 4 and for IVF they like it to be 2 or below, so put on a low amount and got I down to 1.6 I’m still taking it although I am concerned that it’s gone up again as heard it goes up when your pregnant, so although 4 is classes as normal I want them to help me keep it lower as it’s helped i think. mrscoyle- Great news you heard the heartbeat again 😊 I am also on Levothyroxine as like you my thyroid level was 4 & my ivf clinic likes it to be lower than that. They sent a letter to my GP explaining this so I was given a repeat prescription for 3 months but they have said now the GP needs to check my thyroid level and see if I need to continue on it. I rang the GP today to arrange a blood test and after trying to explain it all to the receptionist she agreed for a call back from the GP on Thursday. I’m really worried the GP will take me off it as even initially they were reluctant to prescribe it as they said at 4 my thyroid level was normal.

Hello,

That's great news Bossy.  You're going through a very similar thing to what I did with my son.  It is terrifying.  I hope that the bleeding stops soon and allows you to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.  It's so hard to relax with this going on.  Take it really easy, be very kind to yourself, have everyone wait hand and foot on you.  That's my advice.  And watch box sets, listen to calming music erm, what else?  Talk to your little bean.  I just kept telling my one that they were (well he was but I didn't know that at the time) in exactly the right place and that, although there was silly bleeding going on , they were to remain comfortable in they're little space.  I used to call him my little tenant!  They feel like they're so self sufficient in there.  They've got a comfortable room, plenty of food, when they start to hear they have our voices and whatever else for entertainment.  They're pretty happy!  Your one will be fine.

Honeybee - Happy to hear all good with you too.  More relief.  And happiness!

Hello to Stacey and HopefulKate, congratulations on your BFPs

Hi Mrs Coyle So lovely that you got to hear the heart beat!

Mrs FW So glad your twins are doing well.  I didn't know you had twins.  So exciting.

Hello Toffeeapple and Missi.  HOpe you're both well too.

AFM - I just can't wait until the 12 week scan next Monday.  starting to struggle with the gap between scans.  I had an appointment this week with the midwife that deals with gestational diabetes as I was boarderline with my son.  I didn't actually have it but they're treating me as if I already have it full blown.  So, I'm struggling with a healthier diet.  Not what I really want reight now in a first trimester.  I had a guilty bag of salt and vinegar crisps yesterday.  So good.  I've never craved vinegar like this before.  My mum did with me so maybe.... well, we'll see.

All the best to everyone.

Honeybee - Thank you, Yes I’m sure you will all be just behind me! I hope you have managed to change and get to tasty food in ya and are getting to relax now.

Toffee-Apple - oh we must have similar thyroid lol, yes my Dr wouldn’t prescribe it with out the clinics recommendation, and I also got 4 months worth but I’m now on my last month of it and I’m concerned it’s increased. I am nervous that if the tests shows it’s gone back up they won’t put me back on anyway as it’s classed as “normal” but I will cross that bridge after I get the results I think.

Janeilot - yes it was fab, Monday isn’t long at all! And then you will get to see your little bean and start your 2nd trimester amazing!
I know what your mean about the time between scans! My scan after Tuesday is 8th Jan! I may have to have a private scan between that time! At some point! Oh how annoying they are already tearing you as if you have it! I hope the get it sorted soon and can test you for it.

Hi ladies, just want to pop in quickly regarding tsh, although 4 is regarded by some labs as being within normal range, it’s actually normally 3.5, when your not pregnant, in the first trimester it isn’t, required tsh levels for first trimester is a maximum of 2.5 or under, usually around 2, anything over that increases miscarriage risk and also permanent brain damage for the baby. The acceptable level increases in the second and third trimester. Also things like pregnancy and estrogen supplementation can increase your tsh, so it is a great idea that your getting it tested again. It should be part of the first trimester screening bloods, although not sure if it is included in the uk. I suggest that if your at all worried your dr may take you off it, do some research and go to the dr’s armed with information.

Maybe check your NICE guidelines as I think they have info on tsh levels and I’m pretty sure they like it around 2 or lower for first trimester  :)

Argh I just lost a huge post with personals to everyone. Darnit. I will have to be quick but wanted to say HOORAY for Bossy (I know the fear too well!) and so happy for you, and happy for everyone having recent scans and seeing their little one(s)!

I did want to mention re: thyroid, that I don't believe the World Health Organization would ever agree that a thyroid level above 2 is safe within pregnancy. I am monitored very carefully for my thyroid and my meds are changed depending on the results. When my levels (on meds) catapulted to 4.5, both my clinic in Prague and my local doctor and endocrinologist were extremely worried I was at risk for miscarriage. I don't mean to be alarmist but I did end up having a m/c although we have no definite why. Your doctor should be on this, and if you don't have immediate access to an endocrinologist (there's quite a wait here), he/she should be contacting one on your behalf for advice. (This is what happened for me while I waited half a year for a specialist appt.) Again don't want to be alarming but just worried and on the lookout for you. xo

MrsC, thanks for mentioning the other thread to me :) I appreciate it. Admittedly I hadn't even noticed the due date threads at this board as in the past few years while we have moved onto donor cycles internationally, I wasn't thinking pregnancy, just for the support and info here which is unrivaled. On the Canadian board I'm a member at, the due date threads are really prominent and usually the people that start them and post a lot, start as soon as they know they are pregnant, and they are very confident. Good on them, but I just can't relate with my history and cautious ways. I will be 14 weeks tomorrow and hopefully all is well, but I still relate more to the cautious and hopeful ways of thinking. Also spending almost the whole first trimester on bedrest and with my doctor and I both thinking I was miscarrying for a month - it was traumatizing. Anyway, enough rambling... perhaps I'll gain the courage to head over there with a few peeps from here :)

Hopefulkayte - Thanks for that, it’s good to hear, I never had my thyroid checked before my last cycle and think it may have been a factor in my mmc’s but obviously there is no way to know.
I am taking the Thyroxine each day at the ok and got 1  months left and have a blood test in a couple of weeks to check it, so it’s good to know that and I think I will do a little thyroid research!
And I’m not surprised you have been cautious! You have what sounds like a particularly tough pregnancy so far! I really hope that things get easier for you from here on in. X x

Bossy - so relieved to hear your scan all went well. Take care of yourself.

MrsC - that's awesome you got to sneak in an extra early scan and hear the heartbeat that must have been wonderful! Only 5 days to wait until the next one!!

AFM I've had an awful night, I'm not sure if it's pregnancy related or I've picked up a tummy bug but I was so ill and spent a good portion of the night on the cold bathroom tiles as it was the only place I felt comfortable as it was making me sweat so badly. Today I'm totally wiped out and have only managed to eat a piece of toast in the last 24 hours as I just can't face the thought of eating. Thank goodness I was working from home today anyway so I can have another sleep this afternoon. Luckily both my parents are doctors so are on call for any questions, mum reckons if there's no blood (which there isn't) nobody is going to be interested so I just need to ride it out and stay hydrated. Any tips on things you can eat when you're feeling this bad? xxx

#51 ·
Missl73 - yes 5 days! and counting! Im so sorry to hear that you have had such a terrible night, I agree i don't think its pregnancy related unless its a very bad bout of nausea, I had 1 night last week I felt horrendous and was in tears as it was horrid, I put it down to a bad bout of nausea.
Thats fab about your parents an I agree with mum no blood or tummy pains I am sure all is fine with the pregnancy.
So for me I can usually manage a small portion of mash potato, although the last few weeks haven't managed that much an i have been having some plain crisps and ginger nuts, this is at lunch usually by dinner time I can manage more of a meal thank goodness.
Make sure yo have a lovely long nap later and take it easy today, so glad your at home! I hope you manage to eat something.  ^hugme^
