Hey everyone

I have been very grateful for the support and things I have learned on this forum and I am in no way trying to pull the I'm-a-doctor-card or spread more fear and panic.
But...I really would have a guilty conscience if I didn't post the following:

Please, please think very very very carefully before going on any immune treatments. I would NOT go on the advice of the doctors that are prescribing it to you as they are NOT objective and quite specialised in their narrow-field. It is also a big part of their income.

If you are unsure, please ask your GP, physician, pulmonologist, intensivist for their advice BEFORE getting the treatments. They are more subjective and see the Coronavirus effects. They will in all likelihood recommend against it. Then PLEASE don't do it.

My personal opinion as an anaesthetist that also works in the ICU is - hell, no. Having your own baby is not worth you dying and this virus is serious! We are all super lucky to be youngish females - the least at-risk group of dying but don't mess with that by taking immunosuppressants unless they are vital to your survival. A lot of us will get this virus within the next few months, no matter what we do.

The only times Iíve ever had bronchitis have been whilst taking steroids for IVF. Combined with hydroxychloroquine this time last year I felt so poorly with such a horrible cough, so I would have to agree. Itís scary not being able to breathe properly. I think itís worth flagging up. Iím so grateful for my little boy and the treatments I had (and glad I had them), but I wouldnít be taking steroids right now personally.

Apart from that Iíd like to advocate spreading as much love as possible (rather than fear), staying calm and keeping safe xx

    Hi saltysea
Thanks so much for the warning, I am taking steroids but didn't realise as we didnt discuss it. I will speak to the clinic and will stop taking them today. Do you know how long it takes for your immune system to get back to normal?

Hey Tanda, really wish I could be more helpful but I honestly don't know and don't want to spread incorrect information - will most likely depend on the dose and length of time it's been taken. In any case, the sooner it's stopped, the sooner the immune system can begin to recover. Definitely, please speak to the clinic and be careful on stopping it suddenly if you have been taking it for a while and at medium to high dosages, then it should be weaned off.

Hi saltysea thank you. I spoke to the clinic and they say if I want to stop they recommend taking it until Friday which will be two days post 5DFET and then stop.
Thanks very much for the heads up x

I read last week about the trials conducted in China re: using hydroxychloroquine to treat patients who have COVID-19. Itís in the news again with Trump mentioning it - any thoughts on this? Iím taking it and last week on reading about the trials I felt like it provided me some protection until I realised it was a treatment and not a prophylactic.

    Hi tanda,

Prednisone is an immune suppressor so unfortunately wouldnít provide any protection.
