Hi Everyone,

There doesn't appear to be any started for this year yet so i thought i would start it off.

I'm new to the site and we are starting our first attempt at ICSI in October.  No exact date yet as it depends on my period start date.

Anyone else?

;) ;)

Hiya DebbieD

Welcome to FF Debbie, you will find this place invaluable it is totally addictive aswell - everyone is so nice and all know what you will be going through. Good luck for your treatment. I am hoping to start cycling again in November - my second ICSI (1st BFN in June). Unfortunatley we cant start again before then as our clinic is chocablock (spelling ?!! never written that before)!! There is a board called inbetweenies were you can hang out with others waiting to start treatment if you fancy it - http://www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php/board,47.0.html
I cant wait to start again and look forward to joining you on the Oct/Nov cycle buddies board!!

Take care
Clare

Hi Debbie
We're starting our first icsi in October too (again AF dependant) and am v. nervous. IVF was just not happening though, so fingers crossed this might just be the answer. Meantime I'm loading up on fish oils and a supplement called ante-natal forte which is supposed to get the system in good shape!
See you back here in October!

Hi Girls!

Can I join you all here? I am going for my second attempt at IVF in October! Had a BFN in May this year and have given myself a little break with a holiday in between!

Hope we can all help one and other during October!

Hi Girls,

Thanks for joining me.  I was starting to get lonely.  As i've already mentioned this is our first attempt & we are a bit nervous and not sure what to expect.  Any advice would be welcomed.

We are due to see the nurse on 17th sept to go through the various drugs etc.

Caroline Are fish oils supposed to help? What do they do?

Hi all
Deep sea fish oils, specifically omega-3 (eg high strength cod liver oil) has been shown to reduce cholesterol, and therefore improve circulation(hence improving blood flow to the uterus).  It also boosts the immune system by reducing the body's Natural Killer cells (thought to be one of the causes of recurrent miscarriage and failed implantation)
Another peice of research I read recently also suggested that it helps to regulate the female cycle by having a positive effect on the thyroid gland.
There are lots of posts on the supplements section which seem to back this up, and seeing as it is not harmful in any way (in fact if you do conceive it helps foetal brain development too!) I thought it was worth a shot!

Hello ladies ... my DH and I are about to start our first ICIS cycle in October.  It has been such a long road to get here, first all the tests and then I had to lose weight and now we are in a position to start ... my emotions are all over the place.  I'm excited yet v.v. scared.  It seems like there is so much that can go wrong ... I'm very glad that we all have each other to talk to on this site.  Wishing everybody all the very best  ^fairydust^
and look forward to talking over the next few months.

Karen x

PS:  just heard from clinic how much the drugs cost ...

Hi Karen & welcome.

I know what you mean about the drugs they are so expensive.

I am also very scared & excited at the same time.  After 4 years i can't believe it's finally happening.

I'm finding it hard to stay positive as i don't want to be too disappointed if it doesn't work.

It's all so confusing.

Hi Girls,

OK I'm getting really ^scared^ ^scared^ now.  I've got my nurse appointment today to learn how to inject.  The drugs were delivered yesterday which has to be the strangest parcel i have ever received on my birthday !!!

Hope you are all well & not worrying too much.  I'll let you all know how i get on today (appointment is 13.30) ??? ???

Bye for now.

Oh well! Another AF been and gone! Still the next one is it!
Got to go for our repeat HIV and Hep B/C bloods next week.  I can't understand why as they were negative last year and it's not like either of us is sleeping around.  Dh has also got to go and do his bit again - he's been regailing all our friends with stories of the materials available to "assist"!!
If this is TMI stop reading here   ^censored^, but I thought this was funny - there was a porn video in the "men's room" and apparently the scenario is of a man whose gone to give his sample, and the nurse has to help him!!! Someone on the unit clearly has a sense of humour!!
Anyway, chin up girls - we're nearly there!

I'm getting really  ^scared^ as well.  I can feel AF coming on and once I have completed my day two blood test and then it all starts!!  I know that you are suppose to make sure your healthy, rested and relaxed ... but how do you stay relaxed?

Karen x

PS:  my husband always teased that he was disappointed that there was no nurse assistance!!! Suggested he might not like Nigel the nurse to assist.

OK I'm back from the hospital & it's not as  ^scared^ as i thought and on top of that DH is actually looking forward to doing the injections  ???.

Caroline.
Just checked with DH and he seems disappointed as there were only magazines at kings.

It's getting really close now i have all the equipment ready & just want to get started but it's gonna be another 2 1/2 - 3 weeks.

Can i ask what type of cycle you are all on.  I start injecting buserelin on day 1 of my next cycle but i know some people start on day 21 which i believe is a shorter treatment.

Hope you are all well.  Good Luck everyone  ^pompom^ ^pompom^ ^pompom^
