Welcome to FF Debbie, you will find this place invaluable it is totally addictive aswell - everyone is so nice and all know what you will be going through. Good luck for your treatment. I am hoping to start cycling again in November - my second ICSI (1st BFN in June). Unfortunatley we cant start again before then as our clinic is chocablock (spelling ?!! never written that before)!! There is a board called inbetweenies were you can hang out with others waiting to start treatment if you fancy it - http://www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php/board,47.0.html
I cant wait to start again and look forward to joining you on the Oct/Nov cycle buddies board!!
We're starting our first icsi in October too (again AF dependant) and am v. nervous. IVF was just not happening though, so fingers crossed this might just be the answer. Meantime I'm loading up on fish oils and a supplement called ante-natal forte which is supposed to get the system in good shape!
See you back here in October!
It is always good to speak to people that are going through the same emotional rollercoaster that we are! I would be glad to chat with you nearer the time of our 2nd attempt or whenever you fancy a chat now! Send me an IM is you like and tell me how you are feeling about it all!
Deep sea fish oils, specifically omega-3 (eg high strength cod liver oil) has been shown to reduce cholesterol, and therefore improve circulation(hence improving blood flow to the uterus). It also boosts the immune system by reducing the body's Natural Killer cells (thought to be one of the causes of recurrent miscarriage and failed implantation)
Another peice of research I read recently also suggested that it helps to regulate the female cycle by having a positive effect on the thyroid gland.
There are lots of posts on the supplements section which seem to back this up, and seeing as it is not harmful in any way (in fact if you do conceive it helps foetal brain development too!) I thought it was worth a shot!
Hello ladies ... my DH and I are about to start our first ICIS cycle in October. It has been such a long road to get here, first all the tests and then I had to lose weight and now we are in a position to start ... my emotions are all over the place. I'm excited yet v.v. scared. It seems like there is so much that can go wrong ... I'm very glad that we all have each other to talk to on this site. Wishing everybody all the very best
and look forward to talking over the next few months.
PS: just heard from clinic how much the drugs cost ...
Oh well! Another AF been and gone! Still the next one is it!
Got to go for our repeat HIV and Hep B/C bloods next week. I can't understand why as they were negative last year and it's not like either of us is sleeping around. Dh has also got to go and do his bit again - he's been regailing all our friends with stories of the materials available to "assist"!!
If this is TMI stop reading here , but I thought this was funny - there was a porn video in the "men's room" and apparently the scenario is of a man whose gone to give his sample, and the nurse has to help him!!! Someone on the unit clearly has a sense of humour!!
Anyway, chin up girls - we're nearly there!
LOL Caroline xx
I'm getting really as well. I can feel AF coming on and once I have completed my day two blood test and then it all starts!! I know that you are suppose to make sure your healthy, rested and relaxed ... but how do you stay relaxed?
PS: my husband always teased that he was disappointed that there was no nurse assistance!!! Suggested he might not like Nigel the nurse to assist.
