Hi I'm new to this site and need some advice. I have just undertaken my first cycle of IVF and was on the short protocol...450 Merional a day because my amh is low at 1.4. At the time of trigger I had only 5 follicles that would have been the right size for egg collection (had 9 in total but others were too small). At egg collection there were only 3 eggs and none of them fertilised (2 were immature and the other had poor sperm binding. The embryologist said that it was probably due to the egg not omitting the right hormones to attract the sperm aka poor egg quality). I am devastated that we didn't even make it to egg transfer and am really worried that this will keep on happening especially because I was on the highest dose. I had been doing acupuncture, had stopped drinking, was eating more healthily and drinking lots of water. Is there anything else i can do to improve the quality of my eggs? Also has anyone with low amh and after having a poor response gone on to have a BFP? Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Hiya
My AMH is 0.69 and am currently 20 weeks pg after 2nd ICSI.
I was put on the flare protocol on Puregon, so it may be worth asking them next time to change your treatment?  First round I produced 12 eggs, 8 fertilised, 2nd round 5 eggs 4 fertilised but I had a 3day transfer of a 7 cell (and was told at the time it didnt look good).
I was told with my AMH I was likely to get less than 5 eggs each time.  But the number of eggs doesn't dictate the quality!
Best of luck for your next round...it will happen!

Hi

Have you tried Pregnacare? You can buy his and her packs too. I think it does help. My DH has been taking wellman conception and each time his semen analysis results have improved. ( not to the point where we dont need ICSI). I havent had a cycle yet but i think you can give it a go. I have noted what it contains below:

Folic Acid – Pregnacare® Conception provides 400mcg folic acid, the exact level recommended by the UK Department of Health for all women who are trying to conceive. As well as the healthy development of the foetal neural tube, folic acid may also play a role in conception, and is required in the first days and weeks of life, before you are even aware that you are pregnant.

Antioxidant minerals with natural vitamin E – Important co-factors in antioxidant enzymes, to help protect genetic material from free radical damage. Vitamin E is an essential nutrient, important for helping maintain healthy skin, nerves, heart and circulation, muscles and red blood cells. Pregnacare® Conception contains a low recommended dietary intake of 20mg. This is present in the natural form which is better absorbed by the mother and transported to the foetus than synthetic vitamin E.

Inositol – Inositol may help support ovarian function and influence fertility. It is involved in the cell signalling pathway which influences fertilization and cell growth.

L-Arginine – Well known as a precursor in nitric oxide (NO) metabolism, L-arginine can influence release of the egg from the ovaries (follicular release) as well as healthy follicular blood flow and implantation.

N-acetyl cysteine – A precursor of glutathione, an important antioxidant in the body. N-acetyl cysteine is also important for healthy cervical secretions.

Vitamin B12 – Part of the B complex group of vitamins, it has been found that B12 supplementation can help to maintain healthy ovarian function and reproductive health.

Congratulations turtle 32! Your story gives me hope. We have an appointment with our consultant on Wed so I will ask him about Puregon. Also I am wondering if I had continued to stimulate for longer whether my other eggs may have matured? Have lots of questions to ask on Wed!

Thank you for your message Littlemisshopeful. I have been taking Pregnacare for at least the last 2 1/2 years. I didn't know that they had 'his' available too. Although no issues with DH's sperm it can't do any harm to make sure we're both trying all that we can.
