Hi

I wonder if anyone had ever experienced this.

I have been having accupuncture for the past 8 weeks or so, although I enjoy I havent noticed any major improvment in my stress levels, fertility etc. The lady I am going to is very highly recommended and highly experienced in treating women like me.

Well today whilst I had the needles in me I got this mega, and I mean mega warm sensation in my hands. I mentioned it to my accupuncturist and she smiled, looked pleased and said that was good as she had changed my treatment slightly now as my pulses had changed for the better. I should mention my hands are normally always too cold.

What do you think she meant? Why were my hands so warm? Its bizarre and its buggin me a bit. Really did enjoy todays session too, maybe more then normal.

Any comments

Lou xxxx[br]Posted on: August 11, 2004, 05:57:50 PMP.S Had a new needle inserted today just near the ankle, got mega hot poker feeling underneath my foot.

Anyone experienced ????? ;D

Hi Lou :)

Not sure about the warm feeling in your hands but I have had the hot poker feeling in my foot! I hate anyone touching my feet anyway so this was a big shock at the time!

Good to hear that you enjoyed your session more than usual. I would say that the acupuncturist changing the treatment was a good thing for you, it's obviously having an effect. I am not having acu at the moment but when I was I came out of some sessions feeling as though it was helping and others that it wasn't.

Good luck and happy relaxing

Hi Lou,

I have cold hands and feet too and felt the same sensations when I had acupuncture after having extremely cold feet to start with, my acupuncturist changed some of the tx and it worked better. I think it means your circulation is improving as cold extremeties is a sign of poor circulation. getting the blood to your hands and feet means it is pumping around your body better - this is what I was led to understand anyway. So, sounds good all round.

Hi Lou
I also have poor circulation, very cold hands and feet and i quite often feel the warm sensations.
As for the red hot poker ones, i know what you mean!! Sometimes i could jump off bed. My acupuncturist says hands and feet are the furthest away from the heart so are normally coldest and also the most painful!!
The painful times are out weighed though when i have moxa on my belly during ovulation. Have you had this bit yet?
I have now stopped my treatment until i start my ivf cycle and i missing it loads. Might try to go back sooner to get my energy levels back up!
Hope it works for you

Thanks for the replies girls.

Had another session today. What I didnt tell you is that after that last treatment I cried constantly for a good 4 days or so. Kept saying to Adam dont know whats wrong with me.
Anyway since then have felt a fair bit more relaxed, had another tx today and got the mega warm feeling in my hands today. She used the same points as last time.

I think my ac is hoping she has cleared something!

Oh well, yoga begins on Wednesday and Im bricking it.  ::)

Hi Lou,

I had ac last year, and was amazed when my hands felt warm all of a sudden. I was used to them being freezing all the time as I work outside, and I remember it took me a while to wonder why I felt different, I just hadn't expected ac to have that effect. Dp also went, his hands were always painful as he is a plasterer, and after ac he felt really good for months afterwards. Hidden benefits I suppose!

Unfortunately my ac has now gone back to China! I've moved too, not that far though! I'm in Worthing as I've noticed you are, and I wondered if you could let me have the details of your one, she sounds very good, I feel I need to do something positive for myself, I had a mc 6 weeks ago and I'm going into a decline here.... yoga sounds positive too, dp is always on at me to do that but i'm too lazy! Let me know how you get on with it,

Good luck Lou,

Hiya Lou
I had ac a couple of years ago, not for IF but to help treat a damaged ligament in my foot.
I was sooo anxious and quite sceptical to be honest, but physio and ultrasound hadn't helped and I wanted to get off the meds as we were ttc, and I was taking a cocktail of pain killers and anti-inflammatory drugs.
I had 8 sessions and it was bl**dy fantastic!
I felt a buzzing sensation and a burning feeling around my whole foot, it was amazing!
I'd recommend ac to anyone.
I'm waiting for an appointment for Andy to have some ac for his back, as they think it may help the muscles aligning his spine.
Hope it continues to help you sweetheart  :-*
Take care

Hi everyone,

I'm a great believer in acupuncture and have been having regular treatments over the last 6-8 months including during our last ICSI attempt.  My DH isnt too keen on the idea but I was in the chatroom yesterday and someone said that their DH tried acupuncture and it really improved his sperm quality.  I went straight to report it to my DH(!) and he said he would maybe give it a go, but as he's a bit worried about the needles and whether it hurts etc he asked if I would find out any more opinions first.

He's got lots of sperm, but 98% abnormal forms, and low motility (they move their tails but dont go forward  :'().  Please let me know if you/your DH is in the same situation and have tried it - any success stories I can pass on to him?

He's kind of agreed to come with me when I next go for a treatment so he can see what they actually do and talk to the acupuncturist so I feel like that is a step forward.  He also said that with all the injections and everything that I have had to go through he thinks he could try to cope with acupunture if it will help  ;D  Another idea was to maybe try acupressure instead - any views on that?

Waiting to hear from you....

Hi Olwen

Yes I agree acupuncture is great, but some people find it a bit uncomfortable, especially if needle phobic.
I am a Reflexologist, and use acupressure on the feet to get results, and yes I believe it does help. by improving oxygen and blood flow to all areas of the body and as a reflexologist you would work on the lymphatic sysem reflexes, which help with the removal of toxins, and the transport of minerals, also Reflexology will balance hormone levels, which has an effect on all bodily fluids.
Vit C and Zinc can help, also stopping smoking and alcohol consumption, and improving diet are the main factors.

Wishing you all the luck

Hi!
I've tried everything else so I figured I should give acupuncture a go too!
How should I go about finding the right practitioner?
Thanks

Hi Lizi,
It was a case of trial and error for me. I went to all the shops that sell the chinease herbs etc in the town centres and had free consultations from there and then went by gut instict and also who made more sense.  Finally I found a lady who knows the IVF protocol etc and was easy to talk to aswell.
IM me if u need more info...good luck... ^reiki^ ^reiki^

Hi,

Hope I'm not being too negative but had my first ac for infertility last week. my acupuncturist is also a GP & he told me straight that there is absolutely NO scientific research/evidence to prove that ac will improve your chances of a BFP.

I was shocked as had read on postings on this site that there was evidence to suggest increased chances, especially with ivf - he says it's all lies!!  He was happy to treat me for general well being so had a session any way - did feel bit better after it but very tired in the evening, which he warned me about.

I was a bit disappointed though as I had hoped it would boost my chances but at least he was up front with me & not trying to con me!
I had acupuncture at the chiroprator's for my neck/back & it worked brilliantly.

i have been reading on these boards about acupuncture and am really interested to find someone ... can anyone recomment someone in London (north london would be great) or city area?
When you look for an acupuncturist do certain people specialise in women who miscarry or is it used for people about to go on ivf treatment?  If anyone can give me some information I would be so grateful .... sorry for my ignorance around this.  I have had acupuncture before (to give up smoking and balance bloodsugar levels) but I am fairly new to England and not sure where to look for an acupuncturist.  How often do you normally go?  Etc.  Thank you in advance to anyone giving advice.....

Hi SafariGirl

I am being treated by an acupuncturist in Marlow, Bucks with a special interest in Infertility.  He is treating me at the moment to help prevent m/c (I have recently had 2) and says there's a lot he can do to help in this area. He is also giving me Chinese Herbs - but won't give them while you're on IVF medication (I'm on a break at the moment).

He has another clinic in Guildford, Surrey.

IM me if you want his details. If he's too far away, he may be able to help you find someone nearer who can help you.

I'm hoping time will tell if it helps, but I noticed that someone called Alison posted here in August and was going to try acupuncture after a m/c. Her ticker now says she's 9w pregnant, so I'd be interested to see if she did/is doing acupuncture. Alison, if you read this, can you let us know please? Oh, and BTW CONGRATULATIONS!  ^cloud9^

Hi Girls,

Just a quick one from me. I have also been seeing Daniel Elliott since Dec last year. I just had a BFP this morning on my first IVF attempt and really believe that Daniel had something to do with my positive result.
I really rate him.
