Hi,

I have already posted this on the complementary therapies thread a couple months ago and got no response.  So I thought I'd try here.  Can anyone recommend an acupuncturist in the Manchester area, that has experience in IVF?  I've just had a BFN and feel I should try acupuncture ready for our next go.

Thanks

Hi

Thanks for responding - I was beginning to think that acupuncture mustn't be popular in this area!

Todmorden is a bit far out for me.  I actually started going to the Shulan Clinic in Chorlton - was recommended by two practioners and I started last Saturday.

What's the Shu Lan like? I'm in Manchester and am looking for an acupuncturist. Also, is it just a general acupuncturist or a specific fertility one?

Hi Morvern,

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure if she specialises in fertility..I've read somewhere that she does but I thinks she's general too.  I'm still not too sure whether I think it's doing any good or not..but thought it's worth a shot.

Is it Dr Tang? Two people have now told me that Dr Tang is renown as an excellent acupuncturist/herbalist. Hope it works for you.

Yes, Dr Shulan Tang.  Are you going to see her too?  We haven't started 2nd attempt yet, will be interesting to see if it makes a difference.  She's really sweet actually, I told her that we were newly weds and she gave me a big hug and a gift!  I'd only been going for about a month.

Thanks, BH

No I'm not seeing Dr Tang, but she does sound nice and, as I say i've heard lots of good things about her. I think it takes about 3 months for you to notice a difference with your cycles and stuff so don't worry if you don't notice anything yet.

Best of luck.

Hi

Have you used the search tool on this website ? If not then try doing a seach and see what that throws up....also try doing an advanced search and only looking for threads on this Complementary Therapies board as you may find there are already recommendations in your area.

Alternatively, there's a sticky thread on the main area of this Comp Thera board called "A-Z of complementary therapists" with links to useful websites where you can search for registered practitioners in your locality...

Good luck

Hi,

Not sure where you abouts you are from.  I have just had a bfn but am ready to go again and feel very similar to urself, this time around i want to also try accupuncture.  Have just rang one near to me and he had booked me in for next monday and told me this will be free :) his first one always is apparently He also said that a 3rd of his patients are women for infertility and asked me all the relevant questions, so i feel quietly confident in him already !! Much different to Dr Herbs "chinese shop" where they just seemed to want to take my money immediatley for 6 sessions.  The acupunturist is over in Leigh, i don't know how close or far that is to you but if you do want his details let me know.

Abbie Richardson in Chorlton has been fantastic (I've found) She really knows her stuff. I've been seeing her now for about 6 months.

Good luck.

I had both reflexology and acupuncture throughout treatment and found it VERY beneficial - it focussed me and relaxed me. It also improve blood flow when I found my uterus wasn't thickening enough for transfer.
Give it a go  :)
