Hi everyone, I'm a newbie and finding my way around the site, not too good at it I'm afraid but enjoy reading everyone's comments.  Back to the work thing, my boss isn't very nice about me taking time off for scans etc, I make the time up by working through my lunch and feel very crap at the end of the day! My job is very stressful and I'm going to take time off sick for e/retrieval etc as want to rest and put my feet up, as I just want my 1st cycle of IVF to work. I've been through 2 cycles of IUI and worked right the way through this and didn't get any appreciation anyway! Is anyone else out there having a problem with their boss? It's a very grey area and don't really know my rights!! :-[
Thanks

Hi Everton!

I also have a boss who is not remotely understanding.  I'll be doing a cycle of IVM in June at Oxford (a couple of hours from where I live).  I've not told my boss or colleagues about my situation and am going to take 2 weeks sick leave.  If my boss knew why I needed the time he wouldn't support me and would be wary of the possible maternity leave issues.  Plus I can only take holiday at certain times - which doesn't exactly always coincide with my cycle funny enough!

I've already spoken to my GP who is happy to give me a discrete sick note for 2 weeks.  But I must admit doing the tx is bad enough on it's own, least of all having to deal with the stress of a nasty boss!

If we have to do another cycle I'll have to use holiday (which I'm not using currently just in case).

The consulation days I've taken as odd days of holiday.  Similarly, my partner has too.

Good luck!  :)

Thanks Nikki and everyone for making me feel welcome. This site is helping me through this IVF cycle, I've over stimulated and got over 21 follies on my left side and god knows how many on my right!! They may have to be frozen, will find out on Wednesday at egg retrieval. Keep everything crossed for me, would love this first cycle to work, as already had 2 cycles of IUI.

Good luck to all the newbies!
