Comments please?!  Aimee is a bum shuffler, doesn't walk, doesn't crawl but can hold her own weight on her feet - looking at one of these for Christmas - she absolutely LOVES to bounce!!

Thanks

Hi my Girls are both bum shufflers and only started walking last week at 21 months, the thing that got them up and running was a good old fashioned wooden baby walker , it was lent to me by a friend and is very old , but ikea do a nice one as do ELC, i can not stand the ugly, plastic walkers so i justnever got one and always declied when some one offered me one.

But I have to say if they had had a walker they would of walked sooner , also the baby buggys that the love to push in the house and the park have helped.

I dont know what the fisher price one looks like , but it will help her im sure .

The doctor said bum shuflers walk later ( but they are far more inteligent) ;D ;D ;D  i think he was on him self

Thank you and WELL DONE to your gorgeous girlies.

I have a baby walker, a revolting plastic effort!!!  The bounce and spin is not a walking aid its a bouncy play thing.  Maybe someone else can advise.

Thanks again.

Hi my twins had this last christmas they were about the same age as your lo, we had to hold them on as their feet didn't touch the floor which in turn meant they they couldnt bounce and also its quite slippery in the saddle iykwim. They got a lot more fun from it when they started walking and could get on and off it themselves.

A friend has one and I was really surprised how tall the LO's have to be to get the full use from it, the saddle is quite wide and although not high, its not low to the ground either, so their legs need to be a decent length to get on & off & bounce. Daisy is far too weeny to manage - she would give it a good go but never get her feet near the floor.

Her boys have had loads of run on it so if your LO is tall-ish then she would probably love it but dont think its great for shorties  ;)

Hi

We got one last christmas for my ds.  He used to just stand and hold onto it and turn the wee things tht make the noise.  We used to have to lift him  onto the saddle and bounde it with him, he managed to sit so one leg was longer than the other to make it bounce until he was big enough to bounce properly.  He loves it and we've never had any issues with it.

We were given one by one of my friends, and i agree about the leg length issue..  These 2 could only do it them selves a month or 2 ago ( but are still small for their age) And the seat it a bit slippery......
They did like to sit on it and we bounced it for them for ages though and they like the music and the spinny things.....
( if im honest though, they dont really bother with it as much as i thought they would, and the base is quite big so takes up alot or room) They tend to not bounce on it, more rock it backwards and forwards VERY fast  )

J had one for xmas last year when she was 7.5 months.  For the first few months she used it mainly to stand against and spin the ball at the front to make the noise.  She was not tall enough then to sit on it properly (had to be held) or climb on it. I had it positioned in  a row of toys that J used to cruise along, so in that respect it was very helpful.  I would say it's only been since she was about 12/13 months that she's been able to get on it herself and use it properly.  She still uses it quite alot now and often takes her toys for rides on it.

Although maybe not for it's intended purpose (ie it was a support frame/means of pulling herself up) we have certainly got continued use out of it since she's had it.

I would agree though that they do need to be quite tall to be able to use it properly (J is tall for her age) and it does take up an reasonable amount of space.

You can see from the ticker K is coming up to 16 months . There is one at a play group we go to , been going a couple of months , we go once a week and K has just in this last couple of weeks has just really got the hang of it , and really got 'into' it , he loves to bounce and twirl round on it now as soon as it 'appears' - does this help ?

My DD got one for her 1st Xmas when she was 11 months old and still uses it today even though she is a bit big for it, she loved it so much we got her the bounce and spin Pinto from Dora for Xmas last year.

DD1 won one of these from a photo competetition at the baby show.

She is very petite for her age and when it first arrived she was just about 1 year , she couldnt reach the floor
when sitting on it to start with, but very quickly it became a favoured toy.
She is now 2.5 and still likes to play with it once or twice a day. DD2 at 10months tomorrow is toddling a few steps at a time and she also loves it. she leans on it and plays with the bits that twiddle and make noise.
She giggles mancially when we sit her on it.

the base is about a metre in diameter - but it needs that for stability, ours normally sits with an edge under the sofa until its wanted.

We bought one of these last year for C when he was about 1 - it was played with for a bit but more often just ignored.

But, it's come into it's own as he's got older and taller!! And more stable on his feet. They do need to be fairly stable to use it properly as they need to know to hold on and be able to keep themselves balanced. We paid £50 for ours!! But, C loved his little friend's one so we bought him his with some birthday money that he had.

They are fairly robust too.... I've had a go on C's........  :-[ ;D ;D ;D

thanks for posting this - I am thinking of getting one for my DD this xmas - she turns 2 on new years day so am not sure if she will be too old/big?  (average size for her age)  she does like 'exciting/fast' things though ........

We have one, Matty was bought one for his first birthday by his very over-excitable-loves-the-bright-plastic-toys- big sister, and his other big brother and sis  ;D
He played with it for a while and then pretty much abandoned it.  It is very large at the base, as others have said - which was a bit of a pain in our old house, we put it away and forgot about it until S was just cruising and M made me get it out for her again, she does like it but like others, it was a while before she could get on it herself and she still struggles with it a bit.

It does make you pretty popular with other children though!!  Everyone else couldn't wait to have a bounce!!  Children do tend to fly off it if they bounce and spin too fast
The music's rather grating too, it sounds like shopping mall music, but even more annoying  ;D

Personally I wouldn't have spent the money on it, I really did think it was rather one-dimensional as toys go, even a bigger selection of music so they don't tire of that would have been an improvement.

Thank You all so much for your replies, strangely I text a friend last night - who gets to more clubs than I do and she said how strange i've bought Aimee one for Christmas & Birthday   WOW!!  So thats the decision made for me!!

Its a tricky one, as i've always had a bee in my bonnet about people combining Christmas and Birthday's when they are close together - but its done now... lets hope she doesn't get many more.... that said the value of this could never have been bought from a friend for just Christmas or Birthday.

Thanks again

we brought one for DS and he loves it!

He outgrew his jumperoo so now likes to stand near the zebra, play with the spinny bits and when he's older will sit on it
