Jayne - that is so sweet of you to offer to add Sophie to the miracle board :) - I hadn't even considered it either but it would be nice. Here's hoping for many more names to be added to that list! ^reiki^

I'm going to my open evening at CARE tomorrow night, before that I'm meeting a good friend of mine, who I met online, for a drink - we've been talking and TTC together for 3 years now, and I am more excited about meeting her than going to the clinic  ;D

I love that Sophie has been added to the list  ^afro^  By the way, Caroline, she is GORGEOUS!  She'll break a few hearts in a couple of years  ;)

Hi all

Marielou - Hope the open evening went well, and you had a good time meeting your friend  :)

Fiona - Welcome to Fertility Friends.  I hope some of the discussions and support on the boards can help you and your dh reach a decision that you are comfortable with regarding any future treatment.
So very sorry to read your sad news.   Just so unfair and cruel  ^hugme^

Love

Marie, hope you had a good evening. :)

Welcome, Fiona.  Wow, 10 cycles of ICSI, you have certainly been through the mill.  I'm delighted to hear that one of these gave you your child, but really sorry to hear about your recent miscarriage.  ^hugme^

I guess in many ways it's harder for you to make the decision to go for DI, when ICSI has previously been successful:  it's difficult to know where to draw the line but 10 cycles must have taken it out on you emotionally (not to mention financially).  My DF had SSR a couple of weeks ago and it was unsuccessful, which is horribly disappointing but does leave us in a 'Hobson's choice' situation.  I hope you find it helpful to join our thread.  ^gossip^

Gwendolyn, hope you're taking it easy and the 2ww isn't dragging toooo much. ^2ww^

Love to everyone else, special thoughts to Jayne2 and Colly and to Nat, who should be finding out imminently how many of her eggs fertilised overnight.  Thinking of you lots, Nat xxx  ^reiki^ ^reiki^ ^reiki^ ^reiki^ ^reiki^

p.s thanks for saying such nice things about Sophie, Marie!  She's off sick (the first time since she started school) so I'm looking after her most of the time, with DF dashing home when he can so I can go and teach some lessons..it's been a hectic week like that.

Hello!!!

Just popped in again! Can't stay long, will try and get on again later.

Hope that everyone who's on the dreaded 2ww is coping ok?!

Jayne - thanks for adding my little miracle to the list! :)

Marie - (sorry it's taken so long to reply!) my treatment was unmedicated, just had a trigger shot to bring on ovulation on the successful cycle. Also, the clinic I used did 2 insems per cycle, I'm sure that this helped.

Wishing you ALL all the luck in the world xxx

Hello!!

Well, after the open evening, I am all confused.  :p
We went with a clear focus - to do DIUI, after our FET.    Theres a lot of reasons why I wanted to look into DIUI at another clinic - basically, my clinic say its impossible to get a positive OPK the day of ovulation, when I know, and it has been backed up by scans, that this is what happens.    I get a positive OPK, I go in for a scan, and my follicle is disintergrating at the edges, which means I'm ovulating.  I've never needed HCG - in my natural DIUI, cd10 my follie was 15MM, next day, I got the postivie OPK and my follie was 20MM and popping.
My natural FET cycle,  my follie was 15MM, got the positive OPK the next day, went in, my follie was 19MM and popping.
But, now my clinic want to do the DIUI 36 hours after my +++opk, which I KNOW is too late.  ::)
Anyway, back to the tale - CAR was very very nice, we were very impressed, and their success rates are 40% for ICSI.  Our clinics is about 30% so we were very impressed, and they said for someone under 25 (me) they would expect a 60% ICSI success rate.   All this has turned Mark's head, and he wants another go at ICSI.  I want to go straight into DI, as I don't feel I can emotionally cope with another ICSI cycle.
This has confused things so much!  ::)

I have my councelling session at 5pm, so hopefully they can shed some light on the way I'm feeling.  I'll let you know all about it later!

Jules - Very intresting about your 2 IUI's per cycle - I was looking into that, as two IUI's shows a much increased success rate.  Love the new photo of Katelyn!  ;)

Caroline - Awww, hope Sophie is feeling better soon - my niece (19months) has been ill recently, she was in hospital last night with suspected menningitis, but luckily it was 'just' a viral infection.    Hope she's better soon! ^hugme^

Fiona - Hello and welcome ot our little group!  10 ICSI cycles - wow, I am in awe.  You must be a very strong lady, and I wish you the best.  ^reiki^ ^reiki^  Congratulations on your 3 yr old, feel free to ask any questions or chat away any time.  ;)

Hi Maria

Why do you say 36 houra after + opk is too late???  Thats what my clinic works to.
If i have a pos test in the am then i get basted the following pm which is 36 hours later but if i get my pos in the pm then i get basted two days later in the am - which is still 36 hours later.  This is what i have read is correct also??
I am worried now as this is what happened the last 2 iui's i had and both neg??

Sorry, I'm probably being totally thick here, but what does "positive OPK" mean?
Wish I could chat more but DH is adamant that we spend sometime together ( ^hump^ not that I'm complaining mind! ;D ;D ;D).
Hopefully come back on later!

Lizi -Positive OPK is a positive ovulation predictor kit.  ;)

Alex - Sorry to worry you - I said in my post above, I know I ovulate the DAY I get a positive OPK,..... the majority of people ovulate 36 hours after they detect their LH surge, but I don't.  This really means, OPK's don't work for me.    So, don't worry - its more than likely right for you, but its wrong for me.  ;)  Hope that makes sense!

Ahhhh, now I understand!
I never managed to get a truly positive picture from those kits - how strong a line do you actually need? ???
Still waiting to hear from our clinic when our next appointment is despite numerous messages on their answerphone!
Got to go, someone at the door

^wave^ Thought I'd drop by to say  ^hello^ My computer has been on the blink, it's almost 5yrs old & finally had to replace it  ^zombie^. It's been a tough week, but feeling a bit brighter now. Just wanted to say a big thank you for all your support it's so nce to be remembered even when you're not posting.  ^afro^

I was really  ^furios^ when I got the  ^BFN^ last Wed & took The rest of the week off. It finally hit me on Sunday & just  ^mercy^ & ^mercy^. Phoned in to work to take Mon, Tues, Wed off work. Phoned the clinic Mon for an appt for feedback & they said 8th March!!!!! Was not happy & pushed for an earlier appt & saw the Consultant the next day. Not much to report. Hard to say why it failed, I don't produce many eggs despite being on top whack of gonal f , so have no embies for them to study or freeze so they don't know if that's the prob or if they don't implant. i have fibroids but the consultant doesn't want to do anything about them. He also talked about the probs of frozen sperm & that prior to the need for quarantine, they had an 80% success rate. So it just feels like the odds are stacked against us. Also Jimmies & LGI in Leeds have run out of sperm, are considering importing from abroad & have a waiting list. At least we have 2 straws left as long as our donor doesn't meet the magic 10 pregs.

Did anyone see the tv program the other night about men unlimited, the internet company who provide fresh, unquarantined sperm?? these kind of companies are exploiting gay couples & those of us in need of donors, & with the situation as it is, my fear is they will be on the increase & some will be desperate enough to take risks. My other gripe ids with my local PCT whom I also contacted re funding as we've now paid for 2 cycles. They said they would be producing a review in April, there is no steering group on infertility, but i plan to write & see what response we get.  Phew, thanks for letting me rant, i can't believe how much this whole process takes out of you. It's been so knackering & being back at work for 2 days is a killer.

^goodluck^ with the dreaded  ^2ww^Nat & Gwendolyn

^hello^ Fiona, welcome to FF

A big thanks to all those proud mummies  :)

Hi forgot to mention I'm switching from reflexology to give acupuncture ago. I wasn't sure how to find a practitioner, but contacted the british acupuncture association www.acupuncture.org.uk & asked for people registered in my area who specialise in infertility, rang up a few, asked some questions & then my reflexologist recommended someone who was also on my list. Has anyone else tried?

Hello girls,

Yes , i am having acupuncture at the moment,  Had 4 or 5 sessions and must say i feel a darn sight better for it.  I too tried reflexology but that does not go deep enough but i can actually feel my body doing things when the needles are in.  She says i am suffering from stress and needs to eliminate this from my body which it slowly is!
good luck

Hi Everyone,

Marie, poor you with such confusion and people insisting that what you know to be true about your cycle isn't how it works!  ^smash^ Hope you get some reassurance soon about the best way to go.  How was your counselling appt?

Jayne2, nice to hear from you again.  :) Sorry to hear you've been down, well of course you would be after such a disappointment - good that you took a few days off and had some big sobs.  :'( I agree about these companies providing fresh sperm;  they will doubtless take advantage of a shortage of donor sperm in clinics.

I phoned the clinic here, the specialist is still away but I wanted to find out how things worked as I know sperm is brought over from the UK (on a small island it's obvious it would be too risky otherwise) - did they have certain stocks or order specific matches?  The secretary looked at their list and said they had nobody over 5'11 (DF is 6'3) or with blue eyes.  She asked me what colour MY eyes are:  I said they're green but is that relevant?  The match there would come from my egg! Duh!!  ^stupid^ I tried to explain that we would not be comfortable with DI unless we could get a good match and that we'd like to go for April but she was all 'Wait for your appt in March'.  I think we will start researching London clinics as I'm not confident about the level of service we'll get here.  Grrr!  ^snarl^

Hi Colly, how are you doing?  ^hugme^ I hope you manage to get going again in March - not long til then.

Love to everyone else, hope you're having a good weekend,
Caroline xxx

Hi Caroline

Funnily enough my clinic also asked what colour MY eyes were, weird one isn't it?!!!

If you don't feel happy with your current clinic then maybe you should look out for a new one?! I had 2 attempts at my first one, I too wasn't very happy there, it was mainly the staff and their attitude, and I also think that they were timing insems wrong?!

I looked out for another one and amazingly I fell pg at the first attempt!!!!! They were lovely there, they made me feel very welcome, and hence I was less stressed.

Love to you all xxxxxxxxxxxx
