Hi Ladies!

Hope you dont mind me jumping into your group? I hoped you might be able to help. I am preparing myself for IVF at the ARGC next jan/feb and I wondered if any of you could recommend a accupuncturist I could use during treatment. I did ask the DR at my consultation and he didnt seem to sold on the benefits of accupuncture so didnt give me a name. i currently have accupuncture and would like to have it pre and or post transfer (if I ever get that far ). Also do you know if the ARGC will allow the accupuncturist to come in and treat you? I dont it because they are so busy but you never know. Also any you who have undergone IVF with ARGC did they let you lay down for a bit after the transfer?

Has to be a me post as need to go to school - but one was compacting yesterday so on the way to becoming a blast, others still at cell stage so she said they may even wait until day 6 ?? to transfer the best two....anyone heard of that? But may be posting later with them already on board - will let you know.

Tyler so sorry to hear about your worries. I so hope that some IVIG will do the trick for you. It's just horrible when the inital excitement gets replaced so quickly with worry.

Layla so glad that you have sorted out things and have a plan of action. You seem amazingly strong and determined. I really hope that you get a suprise on sunday, but at least you know the way forward of not. I am quite an assertive patient, but even then I get worried about seeming too pushy (and i am a doc myself....crazy!!)

Kitty great news on your embies, I have heard of other people having day6 transfers, just think it's one day less of the tww! Good luckXXXX

Jules, really sorry about your Mum. I think the stress of all this can bring out the worst in friends and family....even though they are not going through it themselves, there's a ripple effect I think. I hope that your lunch together goes well and you can have a honest and fruitful  discussion).

Amanda, good to hear your plans. I have made a life changing decision to take about 6 months off work to concentrate on treatment. I have made a lifestyle change recently by taking some time away from work (couldn't have treatment in London without doing that I think) and feel much better in myself. In fact I am off to the gym shortly!I am lucky that I have a job that rotates on a 6 monthly basis so can take six months off quite easily.

Trixxie - I went for Acupuncture at the Zita West Clinic which is just around the corner from the ARGC so it's very convenient. I see Lyndsey who is lovely and they specialise in fertility issues and IVF. They are more expensive than local acupuncturists, but really handy when you are traipsing up and down to the ARGC in any case. And you do get to lay down for a while after ET. Good luck with your cycle.

Trixxie - quite a lot of people use Zita West for accupuncture and Daniel someone (Lady Tango uses him). I use a guy called Dudley Kent who is London based and will come to argc when you go for transfer and do accup before and after (IM me if you want his number x). I understand they are ok about it there - as the embryologist said more and more couples were using it.
Thanks Isobel - that's really interesting re your lifestyle changes - hope u can make the meeting - keen to know how u feel it is making a difference.
Georgia - I def hope to be there and Jess is so gorgeous! Also- there is a link on this site that u might find interesting having read your recent comments on your tx. Just to say that I'm keeping all you girls who are in limbo in my prayers - I just hope that things work out for you Layla - you have been so brave you deserve a break.

Tyler - am convinced it's just a blip and hope my instincts are correct! Good luck.

Mands - hope you keep the Cornell/SIRM idea in mind as they do seem to be able to deal with the FSH issue without bombarding the body with drugs, therefore resulting in better quality eggs. Def something I will be looking in to.

Am also keeping all the recent negs in my prayers and hope that we find the strength to carry on with positivity and strength.

Layla, really sorry you are having such a nightmare.  Hope that you get a miracle but if not best of luck moving forward.

Carmela, I bet you are counting the hours to the most amazing day.  I am so glad that you have made it and all the heartache you have been through will be worth it when you get to meet your babies.

Mands/Memphis I have also been corresponding with Claudine re: Sher/Cornell as it is something else I am considering - can't decide whether to give ARGC one last go after my NHS turn or hope that I can get better eggs in the US.

Hi to everyone else, and best of luck/baby dust at whatever stage you are at.

I seem to be lucky enough to have an NHS go.  Has anyone got their notes from ARGC before? How long does it take?  I may be back in the spring as if ARGC can’t get me pg it is unlikely the NHS can, although after my follow-up I really don’t feel confident that it is going to happen for us.  I ideally need to speak to Mr T as my follow-up was not with him but have been told that is unlikely to be possible.  If anyone has managed to get to speak to him between tx cycles please IM me with some tips.  Crying in reception just made everyone disappear!!!!

Tyler- please try not to worry..many of us who had BFP have been there.Excitement of finally getting pregnant gets so rapidly replaced by constant worry about HCG levels...Big hug for you.

Layla- you sound much better and clear about your options and possibilities.I agree that egg share with Lister is definitely way forward but I still hope you might get some good news on Sunday.

Tiggy- it must have been very difficult  to get such bad reaction  from your dad but at least your mother has been great and she will be huge help to you once twins arrive.Glad meeting with your DH sister went well.

Jules- what a nightmare with your mum.When I had my first tx my mum came to stay with us but she was not exactly supportive.I kept finding excuses for her but one day in the middle on my tx when I was getting very stressed with everything we had big argument and she basically told me that it is my fault that I am having problem getting pregnant because I was on the pill for a couple of years..and that she thinks we rushed into IVF far too early?? I could not believe what I was hearing.I broke down completely and would not talk to her for days....and when I had next tx I did not even tell her until I got BFP.On the positive note I think we should not judge our mothers too harshly.. they sometimes say horrible things because they just deal with their own pain and frustration because of our problems on different way,also they are different generation and their attitude towards life and children can never be same as ours
I decided to forget about my mum's comments and move on.She is coming next week again to stay with us and look after meGod help us .. I hope we won't end up arguing again.
I hope you will manage to resolve things with your mum too and find some way to raise money for next tx.

Isobel - good for you for deciding to change your lifestyle in order to improve your chances.I know it is never easy thing to do and take a lots of courage and determination.I am sure it will make a difference.


Trixie- welcome, sorry I have never done acupuncture.

Thank you for everyone's well wishes - it means a great deal to me.

Unfortunately this pregnancy is not to be. My levels are now a tiny bit less than on Tuesday and have dropped since yesterday - so there was no need for an IVIG. The kindest thing that can happen is for me to bleed. I doubt I'll be that lucky and if that's the case it's just a waiting game till I miscarry. I have a follow up on 5 October as by then if I haven't bled then we need to check it's not ectopic.

Monday I will get my immune results back and that will give us an idea of whether it led to the pregnancy arresting. Otherwise it is just some bad chromosomes in these embies.  Julie was absolutely fabulous today and has taken good care of me - I'm expecting a call this afternoon as to whether they want to check my levels again before 5th October and to confirm whether I can stop my meds.

We are obviously sad but we are OK.We have 4 frozen embies for early next year and will know more on Monday whether this was an immune issue which can be anticipated in advance for next time. At least we now know that we can get to blasts and implantation which a great comfort (along with my dog who's been cuddled a great deal today by DH and I!)

Heres one of our new puppies - her name is Megan and shes very gentle and shy - the other one (Stella) is a nutter and wants to play all the time - we had a bit more trouble getting her to stay still for a photo but I will add hers when I've got one.

We finally get them home next weekend (1st Oct) can't wait!!!

Tyler i've just read your post - I'm so so sorry. I can't believe how cruel life can be giving you all that hope and then snatching it away. I'm so glad you've got frosties i'm a great believer in FET. Sending you and DH loads of love and hugs
