Evening girls,

Debbie- I am so, so sorry to hear of your BFN. It is so unfair. Hope you have a good evening and have a good  ^drink^. Take care of yourself and DH.

Joanna- Well done mate on your levels not long for you now.

Niki- So when is EC then? Lot long before you have your embies back where they should be.  :)

I was thinking of starting Acupuncture. Can anyone recomend a good one in london/essex? When is the best time to start before TX? I have heard so much about it, can anyone explain or give  ^reiki^ feedback? Thanx

Hope everyone had a good easter break.

Love Em. :)

Debbie - I'm so sorry to hear about your BFN. There really is no justice.

Em - I went to Lyndsey at the Zita West Clinic in Devonshire St. Just around the corner from the ARGC. I found her brilliant. I am in the 2WW at the moment, but I got the best result ever on my stims. I'm usually a very poor responder, but got 13 eggs this time. I'm sure the acupuncture had something to do with it, and Lyndsey is lovely. Very knowledgable. They have a program that runs alongside the  IVF program.

Ruth - I was told I would be contacted yesterday too about any potential frosties. Didn't hear a dickie bird. Like you I'm assuming that means none. What number had you left by transfer?

I've never been phoned after tx to tell me my "leftover" embryos didn't make it to frosties...I always heard when they sent the letter through summarising the tx, which I found incredibly infuriating but got used do.
I think they phone you if you do have potential frosties as they have to get your go-ahead (and money!)

Debbie so sorry to hear your news.  It is so unfair, you would think your birthday falling on the same day would be a lucky sign.  I hope you managed to get very drunk.

Joanna, glad to hear that things are still going well and that Mr T thinks you have some good eggs, you must be soon.  I didn't get an inject now call and still on the same dose.  I decided not to ask what my levels were as it only stresses me out and I figured if it wasn't an inject now they couldn't be that bad but I am sure I will take a look in the morning. No scan tomorrow, not sure why I guess it will be on Wednesday but at least this means i won't stress about getting to my meeting.  I so don't want to think about work at the moment but would rather take the 2WW off rather than stimms.

Nikki, hope you have moved from sick and nervous to excited!

Holly & Ruth, sorry to hear that you might not have any frosties.  You would have thought with that many embryos that some would have made it.

Em, I'm seeing Danny/Daniel in Harley street.  They are quite a bit cheaper than the Zita West clinic and also specialise in IVF but I couldn't tell you who is better as who knows with acupuncture?  The amount of needles we get stuck in us everyday you wouldn't think we'd need it.  Although I don't think I have found the palace of the child with my stimms injection just yet!

Maybe see some of you at bloods - will be there at 9:00/9:30.

Thank you Holly and Lol for the info on Acupuncture!
Do either of you have the telephone/e-mail for your places?? Also how much am I looking at for a session? Also, how many sessions per month should I be having? I will be starting tx in the summer, when should I start having acupuncture? Also, does it hurt???
Thanks girls. :)

Hi Em
If you search for Harley Street Acupuncture on Google UK it comes up (Danny & Daniel have bios on there).  It costs £60 for the 1st session then about £45 for each one after.  Go to Zitawest.com for Holly's recommendation.  It is about £90 for the 1st one and then £80 for each one after.  You can have acupuncture once a week if you have stuff you want to work on now.  If you feel you are OK but just need it during tx then you can wait until a few weeks before you start tx.  Stimming and EC/ET are the most important times I think.  I am only having one session during stimming as that is all they could fit me in for because of Easter. Unless I end up stimming for longer than two weeks!  It doesn't hurt, but is difficult to describe - it sort of feels like someone is pressing intensely on a spot or that you have cramp but only in the centimetre where they have put the needle.  You don't feel the needle and don't have sensation at every point, just the more effective ones.

Let me know if you can't find either of them.

Hi Em,

Lol has given you the contact details and the prices for Zita West. I just went during my IVF cycle, and not before. I didn't bother going during the down regging - as I never have a problem with that bit. They recommend 2 sessions during stimms, I went for 3, as that is where I have the problem. They say if you can fit one in between EC and ET then well and good, but don't stress about it - I didn't. Wanted to take a few days off from trotting up and down to Harley Street. They also recommend a session 8 to 10 days after transfer - in fact I'm going to check on that and see whether it's 8-10 days after EC. Will let you know. Zita also has a series of Tabs to take. I took her DHA -  the fish oil tabs.

Best of luck with whatever you try.

Holly.

Hi Em,

Its also worth considering Jani White. She's an extremely knowledgable acupuncturist who is also qualified in chinese medicine. She specialises in IVF and pregnancy. She has a website at http://www.naturechild.co.uk She works for an NHS hospital in Oxford and also works privately in London ( Harley Street ) . Her number is 07932 00 00 25

Hi ladies

Can't sleep in this morning - partly because of hangover and partly depressed.  What a lovely surprise though to get all your messages - how very kind and supportive you all are. Don't know what I would do without this site!  I let DH have a read as well and he was amazed and really touched that we got so many lovely messages.  Thank you all so very much  ;D

I did manage to have a good time last night with the help of DH, lots of food wine and cigs.  Back on the wagon next week though!  I'm definitely planning to go to Zita West but does anyone know of an acupuncturist in West London?  The nearest places to me are Richmond, Twickenham, Brentford and Chiswick.  Any ideas?

Shade - good luck with the stimming!  Hope all goes well.

Nikki - best wishes for EC tomorrow - fingers crossed for you!

Joanna and Lol - good luck with your levels - hope they keep rising nicely and you get lots of lovely follicles!  Hope you trigger really soon.

Eileen - glad it went well for you.  Hope you're feeling ok.

Ruth - how about you - how did it go?  Hope all went well!

Flick - hope your levels keep going up - this must be such a nerve-wracking time for you.  I wish you all the very best.

Van - how are things with you?  What's the next stage for you?

Carmela - hope you are feeling well and everything's ok with you.

Moni - how are you doing?  When is your test date?

Georgia - when will you be starting the new cycle?  Any idea yet?

Em - thanks for your kind message.  How are you doing?

Juliet - hope the FSH comes down nicely for you.  When is the next blood test?

Holly - hope the 2ww isn't dragging too much and that you're ok.  Well done with all the eggs - wow!

Audrey - thanks for your message.  What stage are you at right now?

Sorry if I have missed anyone out.  I wish everyone lots of love and luck and thanks again for your support!

Hi

My goodness, I didn’t have my laptop over Easter and its taken me an hour to catch up.

Debbie, I am so sorry to hear your news, what a rotten thing to happen on your birthday.  Glad that you are so positive about trying again.

Nikki and Joanna, sounds like you are both responding really well, great news and hopefully it wont be long now.

Good luck to Moni,  Holly B, Ruth and Eileen on the nerve wracking two week wait.

Hi to everyone else, hope you are all OK and sorry if I have forgotten anyone.

Em  and Debbie (another one!), I am seeing Daniel at Harley Street Clinic and after four years of being told we are “unexplained”, he has come up with some reasons that finally make sense to me.  He seems to want to see people once a week for the first month, then once a fortnight, which cuts down the cost a little.  I am not sure he is taking new patients at the moment (he told me he wasn’t going to) at Harley Street, but his colleague Danny is also a fertility specialist.  Daniel is taking new patients at Chiswick and Ealing so it might be of interest to you Debbie.

I have more or less decided not to try and push through any more treatment until after my holiday in June now, I feel really guilty for not rushing given my age (its my birthday tomorrow, so panicking today about it all), what if that six months makes the difference?  But I don’t feel up to getting on the tx treadmill again just yet.  My first consultation at the ARGC at end of April might change that – I guess I could do some investigations before my holiday.  Not sure how it works?

I n the meantime, have just started with chinese medicine – cannot believe how horrible it tastes, after four days not used to the taste at all.  Hope its doing some good.

Lots of love to everyone,

Emxx

Eileen, Holly & Ruth, hope you've got your feet up and those embies are settling in nicely

Hi again - can't seem to stay away today!  DH is still fast asleep lazy thing - poor guy is probably exhausted after coping with his nutty wife!  Am feeling a bit better - just phoned the Zita West clinic and got an appointment with Jane Knight on Wed 13 April.  Apparently Zita is not available until May!  The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming which was nice.

Em - thanks for the info re acupuncture.  Does Danny just do acupuncture or is the clinic like Zita West with other complementary medicine?  I know the time issue is a worry but I don't think you should feel guilty at all about taking some time out - I bet it will be the best thing for you to prepare your mind and body for another go.  Sorry the medicine tastes so yucky - what are you taking and what does it do?  Hope it gets better! I wish you a very happy birthday for tomorrow - sorry I can't seem to get the happy birthday smiley to work for some weird reason.

Juliet - thanks for your message.  It was my first go at IVF with ICSI so I guess I shouldn't have expected a miracle.  I've had IUI x 3 on the NHS and got pregnant with the first one but had a blighted ovum when I went for the first scan.  That was horrible and I had to have an ERPC.  When we had ET Chris the embryologist (who is absolutely fantastic) said a lot of women get pregnant with their 2nd or 3rd attempt at IVF - apparently because you are more relaxed, understand the process more and also Mr T has found out a lot about your body chemistry.  Makes sense I guess.  I just wonder how many women do manage it on the first go.

How do you put the info about yourself in pink under replies?  I guess you probably have to become a full member?  Do you know how I can do that?  Glad your hysteroscopy went well and I really hope the FSH comes right down for you!

Just a quick question - horrible old AF hasn't arrived yet.  I'm not holding out any hope at all but does anyone know why it might be late - my feeling is it's probably because of the cyclogest pessaries?  Any ideas?

Lots of love to all.
