I have been told in the past by a specialist that my ovaries were 'slightly polycystic' though not full-blown pcos. My cycle is fairly erratic but usually around 35 days. It seems I did not ovulate last month (had a blood test and the hospital told me so and suggested I try taking Clomid). BUT my problem is that I am now on day 50 of my cycle and I still have not had my period. Nothing. Am not pregnant as tested 10 days ago, regardless of the 'you didn't ovulate' feedback, and it was negative. Am not stressed, not losing weight or any of the other things that might delay a period and aside from feeling v tired at the mo, am feeling fine.
So is this fairly normal for someone who has 'slightly polycystic' ovaries (rather than full-blown pcos)? A cycle of 50 days? Or is this quite unusual? Any advice?
Thanks

Hi

When waiting for AF to start Clomid I waited 57 days for her to arrive... typical hey, the only time you WANT her to arrive!  I have/ had endo and mild pcos.

You could go to your GP and ask them to give you something to bring it on, I think most prescribe nortisterone (sp)...

Good luck with the clomid hun, my first cycle bought me my little miracle.

Hi Mullock
Long/irregular cycles are very common in women with PCOS.
I'm leaving you a link to the PCOS board which has lots of information/advice ;) There's a Symptoms thread on there, and information on cycle lengths etc.
http://www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php?board=13.0
It may be that you could be prescribed Metformin to help with the PCOS symptoms (you'll find info on that on the PCOS board too) ;)
I'm sure if you use the Search Function (4th button on the main page) and type in 50 day cycle, or Long cycle, you'll find some useful posts ;) You can select which boards to search through, I suggest doing a search on the PCOS board first and take it from there.
Hope that helps :)
Wishing you all the best with your journey ^hugme^

Hi hun,

I would say its fairly normal to have long cycles with pco/s. My longest ever cycle was 50 days  :( And i know ladies on here who have had longer.

If you cycles are irregular, your bllod test you had might of been done at the wrong time. CD21 blood tests never showed i was ovulating because every cycle was a different length so it was a guessing game of when to have the test. Might be worth asking to have another one.
