My son has a dark colored looking belly button and I have tried to clean it gently and thought that as it was not coming off it was like this and my mum is wondering if it is normal too.
Mine is personally the same color as my skin and not darker. As anyone experienced this?

It's probably best to ask your HV or doctor if you are concerned or unsure. Does it stay the same after a soak in the bath??

I have noticed this on C's bellybutton too. But, in all fairness, his is quite noticable as he has an umbilical hernia.

I think it's just like a little scar from when the cord was cut as I have a similar thing on mine.

Thanks Kitty and Chux,

when James had his visit to the GP she looked at it and said nothing and at the time I was not concerned and during and after the bath I have tried gently to clean it with no success.
As Kitty says it must be scar like.
