Sorry if this has been asked before, I have tried to do a search first but was unsucsessful. I want to know if it possible to transfer my frozen embies to a new clinic and how much this would cost approx. The reason I am enquiring is that a new centre has opened up near where I live and this would be so much easier and less stressful if i were to continue treatment there.

Thanks girls Victorioussunrise

Hiya,

Can't tell you anything about frozen embies but we moved frozen sperm from one clinic to another and I'd imagine it's a similar process.  It cost £85 to move them (approx 40 miles!).  Our new clinic arranged it though gave us 3 options beforehand:

1.  Move it ourselves - we would need to hire equipment and have health and safety training  - didn't fancy that at all though it's the cheapest option.
2.  Book a general courier (e.g. Parcelforce) - quite cheap but the clinic said that they would treat it like any other parcel so couldn't guarantee it's safety - didn't fancy that option either!
3.  Book a specialist courier - the guy the clinic used specialised in international organ transportation!  It was the most expensive option but at least i felt the sample would be safe.  The clinic arranged it, and we just had to pay the invoice.  I was a nervous wreck on transport day and keep listening to the traffic news for announcements of crashes on the motorway but the sample got there safely thankfully!

Hope that helps and best of luck.

Thanks Kim and Tracey for your replies.
I am certainly going to look into it. It will be so much better to have a clinic closer to home.

Hi Victorioussunrise

I am sure that you can we transferred DH's  ^HappySperm^ from one clinic to another.  We used a courier that the new clinic recommended and they went and collected the container and then transported the ^HappySperm^ to their new home.

It cost in total about £110 and it was really easy.

^goodluck^
