Just a quick question as my ds has chicken pox and mum has had shingles in the past, but am I right in thinking you can't catch shingles from chicken pox but can catch chicken pox from shingles??

My DD had chicken pox recently and you are right. Shingles is caused by a reactivation of the chicken pox virus within your own body usually when someone has a weakened immune system.  According to NHS Direct:-

"If you have shingles you are contagious to anyone who has not had chickenpox. However, it is not possible to catch shingles from someone who has chickenpox".
