I have just been diagnosed with high FSH (18.9) and my fertility specialist told me not to do IVF as it wouldnt work.  I am trying very hard to bring this number down (accupuncture, diet, herbs etc) and am determined to get preg naturally (we are considering egg donation later if this doesnt work)  Anyway my first fertility doctor has given me a prescription for Clomid (just to see) and he then referred me to the fertility clinic but my fertility specialist (at the clinic) told me not to take clomid as i am ovulating and it has side effects.  I am confused as I wonder should I give it a go or should I not risk messing up my regular cycle and listen to my fertility specialist?? What would you do???

Hi Buba

Here is a list of possible side effects - the list is quite comprehensive but not everyone experiences side effects: http://www.fertilityfriends.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=48662.0

With regard to whether you should take it, its up to you... clomid is used in ladies that ovulate to give the sperm more target practice.

I had a horrible time on clomid BUT that said I wouldn't have thought twice to use it to concieve no.2... it does work wonders for some.

I hope someone can give you more guidance but for now I hope this helps.

Hi-ya

I had 2 cycles of ovulation induction - Synarel/puregon/pregnyl. My periods are always very regular could set my calendar by them! Tests show I am ovulating spontaneously every month and blood results are all OK! ^idiot^

Despite all this they gave me fertility drugs just to increase my chances unfortunately it didn't work and the side effects were nasty but taking the drugs gave me hope! and I don't regret taking them!

I am having time out at moment as i am really stressed and anxious about things ^eyes^ (work and TTC issues) but hope to complete my 3rd cycle as soon as i am feeling better within myself!

I was confused by this too!  My cycles were nice and regular too, ovualting each month, but still had 3 cycles clomid and 3 cycles of Ovu Induc as Jayne (Buserelin/Puregon/Pregnyl).  It is a little odd when you know you ovulate, but I guess it is just to give your body an extra boost.

If you go for the Clomid, be aware of the type of side effects you can get, but do keep in mind all the time, whatever you feel, whatever you say.. it's not "you" - its the drug and it's all temporary.
