Well, did any of you see it last night?

they were talking about womens gynae probs etc and one girl was saying she had endo. At first i thought, great having got it on a TV show etc and explaining it, but it was short and vague and here is the worst bit.........

The GP on the programme said "theres only one real cure for endo..... PREGNANCY!!!!" OMG!! ^bigbad^ ^bigbad^ i couldnt believe what i was hearing. outrageous, i may email channel 4 and tell them

Any of you see it?

Hiya,

I didn't see it, but I think I would have thrown something through the tv if I had seen it! How do they think (well, obviously they DIDN'T think!) that comments like that would make ladies with endo and infertility feel?

Makes my blood boil! This time last year, comments like that would have reduced me to tears!

I have been told by various cons that pg will "cure" my endo!!! In fact a Gynae Cons who I paid alot of money to at one time, told me the reason for all my pain was a "tight cervix" (and not in fcat stage 4 endo which I had!) and to just get on and start having babies which would cure the cervix issue!

Makes me angry too

Saw this post and just had to comment (but didn't see the show).  That's the stupidest comment ever...and obviously done without research since duh, how do you get pregnant easily if you have endo???  It's like they don't filter anything they broadcast.

NBR - its not only hard to get pg with endo, but once you have and had the baby etc.. it can come back, which i think mine has already!! so its b******t !!!!  cant believe a gynae said that to you either OMG!!!  ^idiot^  ^idiot^  ^bigbad^

yeah i just went onto their website and theres a 'contact us' section. i just said they should really do their research before comming out with such rubbish and to consider how this could effect people who actually suffer from infertility through endo. still angry at their reply though  ^bigbad^

A work colleague of mine was diagnosed with endo when she was in her early teens and was told then that the best 'treatment' for it was to get preggy!!

Just seen this post and so pleased I am not the only one who was really annoyed at what they were saying....

They totally trivialised Endometriosis, they had a very brief section on it and did not go into much detail at all apart from saying the pill may help and pregnancy is the best cure  ::) and they are supposed to be GP's... the thing that annoyed me most is that they had large pieces on the show about ladies with funny bits down below causing them to not want to show people and they seemed to take more interest in that,  where as something as serious as Endo which can cause millions of women many issues including Infertility, serious pain, emotional problems and many other debilitating symptoms was trivialised as if it was just nothing.

It makes me so bl00dy mad as I am having a terrible time at work with people not understanding the effects of Endo & infertility, and then programmes like this just make it harder for us to get people to understand  ^bigbad^ ^bigbad^ ^bigbad^ ^bigbad^

don't get me started on this programme!!  I kicked up a stink and wrote 2 letters of complaint to them with the last series of this as they were talking about crohns (which i have) and got it totally wrong!!  I was furious...

My gynae etc are pretty sure i have endo but unfortunatly can't dx it as a lap it totally out of question for me...

For them to say pregnancy is a cure for it....  they said the same about crohns!! grrrrr

gemmy, just a note that there's a thread in the ivf section for those with chrons and colitis if you'd like to talk with others in your situation.  Pretty ridiculous about how to put endo and crohns into remission.  So they're not doing laparoscopy on you because of your crohns?  I had colitis and had surgeries to remove my colon and my dr is also not comfortable doing lap on me for that reason.  I was put on menopause meds for 3 months to try and treat the suspected endo.

Gems, wow! that is interesting cos my best friend has bad chrons and was always told getting pg and having kids would make it much worse!! she went onto have 4 girls though and ignored them. Although her chrons is pretty bad and she reckons it could have made it worse?!  x

hiyi

crohns can 'sometimes' get better during a pregnancy....but in most cases it kicks off again once the baby is born...

my situation is very rare.. as TTC is going to be difficult due to Crohns, perm Ileostomy, extensive scarring inside and out.. PLUS having what they're sure is Endo..oh the joys...lol!!
I'm TTC at the moment but have been warned i'm 60% more likely to have an ectopic  due to sepsis from poast surgery...
I've got until 21st July to see if anything happens then i'm off to see my fertility specialist again and they will decide what to do from there..

I seem to go mad when i hear all these conflicting stories regarding crohns...  Its not researched enough and this 'pregnancy cure it, changing your diet cures it' is a crock of poop...no pun intended...lol
