Hi there

I am not sure if i am posting this in the right section or not ( if not could one of the mods please put in in the right section - thanks) - just wondering if anyone is out there in the same situation as myself and mum hubby with my sons skin condition.

David Michael Green born at 13.33 on the 15th May 2008 (15 days early).  He weighed in at a grand weight of 7 pounds 9 and a half.  He was also born the same day Tommy Burns died.  Michael did try and convince me to put Tommy in his name somewhere but I said NO! Lol
David was born with a skin condition called Epidermolytic Hyperkeratosis (formerly known as Bullous Ichthyosiform Erythroderma).  This basically means his skin blisters with friction and shearing forces and is therefore very fragile and needs to be handled with care.
He was born on the 15th May and on the 19th was transferred to the Neonatal P.D at the Queen Mothers Hospital at Yorkhill.  He is in the special care ward where he is being looked after by myself and Michael and a bunch of fantastic nurses and doctors.  Myself and Michael (because we dont live in Glasgow) are staying at Ronald McDonald house for as long as we need to until the wee fella is out of hospital.  According to his Dermatology doctor that could be anything from 2 weeks plus.  Also there is a specialist nurse from the skin charity DEBRA looking after him and making sure that we know what we are doing when we are changing his bandages etc.
We cant wait to get the we fella home so we can start to enjoy him and not be stressed with all of what is going on.

I hope to hear from some people no matter what.

Gail,

Congratulations on the Birth of your son.  I'm really sorry but I cannot help with any info on his skin condition, however I hope you get to bring the little chap home soon, and I hope the skin condition improves soon.

Hugs
