hi i am just about to start my second ivf attempt. i received my drugs today and noticed that they have given me lots of the hcg injection that you normally have a couple of days before egg collection. when i queried this with the clinic they said that they wanted me to continue with the hcg after embryo transfer aswell as the suppositories! i didn't have to do this last time. just wondered if anyone else has had to do the same and whats the reason behind it? thanks any advice would be really appreciated.Emma Jayne xx

HCG after egg collection is often used to boost the amount of progesterone you produce and hopefully help implantation. The down side is that you cannot rely on a urine pregnancy test when you get to that stage as the HCG will still be in your system, so blood tests and scan are the only way of knowing.
