Hi,

I am due to start treatment next week and I am currently drinking loads of water and milk and also Green Tea - now with everything it seems that I like I am not allowed to have  ^bigbad^ sooooooooooooooooooooo could someone please tell me if I am okay drinking green tea or like one of my other FF says is there something in it that could prove detrimental to my treatment??

Hi

Drinking too much green tea may interfere with the absorption of folic acid. If you use the search facility you should find other threads discussing it but here's some more info....

"The work also shows why other studies have linked high levels of green tea consumption by women around the time of conception and in pregnancy to an increased incidence of spina bifida and anencephaly. These are neural tube defects linked to folic acid deficiency. In green tea drinkers, EGCG's antifolate activity would be expected to lessen the activity of the enzyme that uses folic acid, minimising the good effects of folic acid supplements."
