Hello everyone. I have just signed up today and it is reassuring to know that we are not alone in all of this.

I have just had my first IVf treatment which was unsuccessful as the specialist predicted. To top it all, I have a raised FSH level and am peri-menopausal. The IVF treatment might have triggered off symptoms of the menopause. At 34 its a bit wierd comparing hot flushes with your mom!

The next step is egg donation or adoption. I would love to hear from anyone who has advice or who would just like to talk.

I am finding it really hard coming to terms with everything as it is all very new and extremely raw.
Each time we go the hospital we get more bad news and now I only have negative feelings about the place- not the people, because they have been amazing.

I wish everyone loads of luck.
Love

Hi Jenwana,

Sorry to hear you have had such a tough time.  I too have just had a bfn, and I know how hard it is.  What puzzles me though is how come your specialist predicted that your IVF wouldnt work?  I mean surely the doctors should have some faith in what they do - I know there is no guarantee and it often takes a couple of tries to see how you react to the drugs and everything, but I've never known someone go into the treatment being told that it wasnt going to work.  Obviously I dont know all your details and I'm no specialist, but it just sounded a bit strange to me.

I'm sure there will be someone here who can give you more advice and maybe you will be able to get clearer ideas about what your options are before making such a difficult decision.

I wish you all the best, whatever you decide to do next.

Hi all

I am an old newbie, as I registered 3 years ago then re - appeared today! I had an embryo transfer on Wed 16th Jan and starting to feel more jittery by the minute. Deep breathing and trying to be philosophical isn't really working. There were some really interesting comments on the 2WW though. Its just so hard, when you want something so much and its either going to work or its not - there are no grey areas.

Does anyone have any coping strategies or ways of not obsessing about it or is that a silly question?

I wish you all lots of luck and hope to hear from someone soon.

Love

Hi Jenwana
It's easy to give advice but harder to follow it when you are going through the 2WW.  I distracted myself with lots of funny films, to flood my body with happy thoughts.  It worked some of the time, then I would be obsessed about every twinge or cramp.
The way I handled the last cycle was to think it either will or won't be and I will do everything I can to support it.  I had a committed listener and life coach who was there for me too and who took a very logical approach with me.  His wife was 44 when she had her first child, naturally, and they went on to have 2 more healthy children.  He has never let me give up hope.  They went through some hurdles before that to have children, but they just kept going.
I don't know if this helps but my fingers are crossed are for you.

Hi Jenawana, welcome (back) to Fertility Friends. :)

Well done on getting to ET ^clapping^ The 2ww drives you up the wall! Coping strategies? Hmph! After doing 5 of them you'd think I'd be an old pro but, sadly, no. ::) The ladies on the 2ww threads are a great help though. Great to know you ar not the only one going loopy and looking for symptoms of it working or not, so do check those threads out.

Wishing you lots of luck and ^sticky vibes^
