I have just had a failed ICSI attempt. Stimms went fine, no side effects and they retrieved what appeared to be 10 good eggs. However I have an FSH level of 10.6. Does anyone know how this affects chances of fertilisation?

I have also read you can do things to bring down your fsh - does anyone know what these things are and has anyone successfully reduced their fsh?

Your advice would be gratefully recieved.

Hi B

I have also had my first ICSI abandonded due to zero fertilisation and I really feel for you - it is just so devestating -  I received the awful call last Tuesday and still feel so lost and upset.

I have also had high FSH in the past (12ish), and I tried agnus cactus, which you can get from holland and barrett, and then next time I was tested it had gone down to 4 - but then I have read that it can fluctuate on its own anyway, so not sure if it was the AC that helped - I stopped taking it when I started TX as read on FF you should.

Have you had your follow up appt yet?  Our hospital is being really slow and looks like we'll have to wait weeks for ours - is so frustrating - feel like I can't move on until we have talked to our consultant.

Anyway, wishing you lots of luck for the coming months

I know its horrid. Its so hard to get your head round. We got our devastating call over a week ago now and still trying to come to terms with it. There are a few other women who emailed back to me on my previous post in this section, also in the same situation. Like u, me and my dh also have to wait a while for our follow up chat, a couple of weeks. It feels like forever. I so know what you mean, I too feel very lost. Not sure what to do next, or what to think.

Thats wierd how fsh fluctuates. Did it affect your stimms. I will look into that agnus cactus.

Good luck with your appointment. Will let you know what my consultant says.

Hi Bunny,
Sad to hear your tale, not unlike mine.  My specialist told me that there is a slim chance of TTC naturally and even with IVF a 5% chance.  Depressing indeed.  I also have some sort of blockage.  I did go to my Chinese herbalist the next day who gave me a more possitive picture.  I'm now on herbs which seem to be doing something.  I'm sure they take time, which I don't reckon I have much of, 39 this year...But there are particular herbs for lowering FSH levels, and he said mine at 13...weren't that high anyhow, women can conceive on such levels, but the regular doctors seem to be a bit more concervative with their estimates.  Don't give up hope anyhow.  There are loads of options out there... I'm having a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy next week, looking forward to that :-[ but atleast it it will tell me more about my situation...Lots of luck... ^hugme^  Jez

Hi!
Just to remind people that you should never take Chinese herbs or other herbals such as Agnus castus without informing your clinic, particularly if you are having blood tests and definitely before starting ANY TX.

Bunny - it is often said that lowering your stress levels is the best way to keep FSH down. Easier said than done......
Good luck!
