Hi,

I was hoping to start IUI with donor sperm this month, but I have to have an HSG.  I have already waited 2 cycles (since my last failed ICSI) and wanted to start this month.  I'm told the HSG has to happen before I can start with donor sperm, and that this happens after a period.  My doctor isn't keen to start with the donor sperm on the same month, so it means waiting another month (which for me can mean 6 weeks or more).  Can you do an IUI donor sperm cycle on the same month as an HSG.  My doctor said he isnt keen but he understands if I don't want to wait.

Any advice gratefully received.

The next cycle after the procedure or on the same one? Which one do you mean?

You need to make sure all the dye is out of your tubes - I would not want my little egg/embryo/ the expensive donor sperm competing with dye. It might be a waste of a treatment cycle and a BFN is never easy to deal with.
If it is a BFP then you have the worry that the dye might have caused something.
Better to wait a few weeks I would say.
