Hi

I have a beautiful daughter who was conceived very quickly on my honeymoon!  However, we have been trying for a 2nd child now for 9 months without any joy.  We have been using ovulation tests for about 6 months, so know that I am surging, and have been having frequent sex.  I do get quite a bit of stomach pain around the time I should be ovulating, so wondered if this was linked.

How long should I wait before going to see the GP about it - I'm 34 very shortly and am getting really down about it.

Hi Sarah, Im 34 now but I went to see my gp after having problems after 6 months. I dont think it would hurt just to go along and have a chat, they may tell you to wait a little longer and give you some advice or they may set the ball rolling and refer you to see a specialist, as in my case. Anyway good luck and take care Charley xx :) :) :)

Hi Millymoo,

I saw my doctor after 18mths, originally she told me I had to wait 2 years before I could be referred, after a few tests she referred me earlier.

My friend saw her doctor after 10 mths and was referred straight away no tests/no messing, so I think it depends on your doctor.

You may as well see the doc even if its for advise.

Good luck

Hi Millymoo

Our GP wouldn't refer us for 18 months.  I suspect it may be the same with you ... especially as you've already managed to conceive and not had a year trying for the second one.  Doesn't hurt going though. They might test to see if you are ovulating etc. which would help things on when/ if they do refer you.

Good luck

Elly
