I called to make my first appointment and they suggested to have it weekly and 3 months BEFORE I start my IVF.

I am waiting for my AF to start for my IVF and dont want to put it off any longer, plus at £35.00 a session it is quite pricy.

How often do you have it?

Thanks in advance

Hi Caz

I have Acupuncture twice a month. On day 7 and day 14 of my menstrual cycle. The acupuncturist (Wendy) said for me to start recording my temperatures to see when I ovulate as day 14 is just an indicator of the time around I ovulate. Also my acupuncture costs £30 but that is in redditch in worcestershire.

It is also recommended if the acupuncturists have worked with people going through IVF. Wendy has worked with people going through IVF and many of them have become pregnant. During the IVF treatment, she would see me weekly. A day before EC and a week after ET, she is visiting tommorrow to my house, normally I would go to her clinic. Testing 7th May 08

Good luck for IVF.

Keep in touch

Hi

I didn't have acupuncture during this most recent IVF but I did through both FETs and also 2nd & 3rd fresh IVFs.

I started having acupuncture at least 3 months before I started the treatment and then once having the treatment I had it every week.....and then on day of ET I had it twice, once before and once after transfer.  My FETs were through natural cycle and not medicated.

I also had it when I was on clomid, which is when I actually started acupuncture, 3 years ago....again, I had it every week for 6mths whilst on clomid.

My acupuncturist isn't a specialist in fertility but he has lots of working experience and sound knowledge of working with women going through IVF treatments and issues relating to fertility.....although mine may not be a specialist in this area, he actually teaches acupuncture at degree level and has been on up-to-date courses for acupuncture during IVF.

It can get expensive I know.....through each treatment cycle I've probably paid at least £500 for acupuncture alone.  I've also had one off de-tox acupuncture sessions prior to starting treatment.  Mine charges £35 per session (London)

Good luck

I have acupuncture at the start of cycle and then about 2 weeks later- to help with lining, and then pre and post ET.  It is 45 pounds a session (central London)- Zita West clinic charges 80-90 pounds a session!  You can reclaim it on HSA if you have that.

I didn't have it to coincide with IVF but I went weekly until we saw an adequate improvement but then started going just before AF due and just before OV due.

Hi,
I started Acupuncture back in February as my treatment was due to start in March. I attended weekly for 4 weeks then unfortunately my treatment did not go ahead so I was advised to decrease it to every 2 weeks then monthly. I am now attending every 2 weeks now that I have started Zoladex injections.
Costs £38 pounds for 45 mins. Glasgow.
I started it to hopefully help my endometriosis and help with relaxation.
I can't comment o the effects with regard my treatment but certainly I have noticed an improvement in my skin, eyes and general feeling of wellbeing.
