I had a HSG a couple of years ago in the Xray dept of my local hospital. The procedure was a bit like having a smear test where they inserted a speculum. A small cetheter was then placed into my cervix & a dye injected to check for blockages etc. In my case it was for fibroids. It was a bit uncomfortable when they injected the dye..it felt a bit like cramp. The procedure was over within 10 minutes & I was given a sanitory pad to wear because the dye came back out pretty quickly once I was on my feet again. I had a paracetamol to help relieve the pain.
