Hi Candy

£80!!!!!! ^shocked^

Mine was £40 an hour although it wasnt for fertility but I shouldn't imagine it makes that much difference.

I'd ring around if I were you.

Good Luck

Thanks Linz, I don't want to have it, but I did say I thought her treatment lady was having a laugh charging that much ! but she insisted was going rate, hence wanting to know what others got charged C x

Hi Candy!

I have had 2 sessions of hypnotherapy with a hypnotherapist who specialises in fertility (she has featured in a couple of magazine articles recently). Her fees were £75 per hour and each session lasts 2 hours (£150 each session). However, I do feel it was worth it as I feel much calmer and more positive and it got me started thinking about hypnotherapy and relaxation.

I can highly recommend a really good self-hypnotherapy CD if you haven't already tried this. It is available from www.nourish-fertility.com. I bought it about 2 months ago and it cost around £15.00. I try to listen to it every day if I can and it is great for relaxation. Takes a bit of getting used to (don't listen to it with anyone else in the room!). I find that I really fall into a deep relaxation - a perfect escape from worrying!

Good luck.

Wow thanks Alison, I will have to try the CD myself, my cousin actually has been trying for the same period of time as me, but has only just started out on exploring the reason why. Where abouts was the hypnotherapy lady you saw ? and would you go again ?

Sorry questions questions questions xx

Good luck, Candy - hope it helps. £80 an hour sounds a right rip off. I've paid £30 an hour for hypnotherapy (not for infertility, though) and found it very useful. There's a register somewhere on the net of fully trained / qualified people.

The lady I saw is called Tina Taylor based in Caterham, Surrey. She has a website www.unconscioushealing.com. Although she was expensive, I felt it was worth it and I only had 2 sessions - partly because it is a 2 hour journey to get there from where I live, but partly because I felt I had got out of it what I needed to - carrying on with the self-hypnosis cd's.

As morgan says, there is a register somewhere on the net, you may be able to find someone closer who has experience in infertility too.

Would be interested to know how you get on!

Love Alison xx

Hi Laine

Yes I have got Tina's cd as well, I just have the 2 cd's so tend to alternate them during the week! Do you also have it, and do you find it beneficial?

Does help me to relax for sure.

Hi Laine

I actually prefer the cd from Nourish - I seem to play this more often and is slightly longer too. The words are very gently and appropriate.

I did have 2 very good personal sessions with Tina - and have found it invaluable. This got me thinking more about hypnotherapy and I did a bit more research, then found the Nourish website.

I'm not sure if the hypnotherapy will actually influence the outcome of my ivf, but so far I genuinely believe it has helped my state of mind. I have had very down periods this year, but so far, since the hypnotherapy I have been much more positive and 'balanced' - can't believe I am describing myself as balanced, my dh would probably disagree!

Hope this helps.
Love Alison

ps. you do such a wonderful job for all of us on this site, we appreciate it so much.

Hi

My GP gave me Hypno whilst i was injecting on my last IVF cycle... i found it very relaxing , if a little wierd!. He also gave me some relaxation tapes that he had made, which i found even better. My DH and I put them on when we wanna go to sleep..and Whoosh out like a light.

Fo me though i have found Reiki just the most wonderful way to relax. I am extreamly lucky with both my parents being Reiki masters, so i had a course of 3 for maximum benifit as did my DH (he just walks around like a zombie after a session) However, a usual price for a session is Approx. £30 and usually lasts 40mins to 1hr. (one thing to be aware of though is that it increses the effects of Alcohol ^drunk^

Hello Shelley

It is difficult to say whether Tina Taylor would be better than say another hypnotherapist who does not charge quite so much.  The reason I chose Tina is because she had had some recent articles in magazines regarding her success and I wanted to see someone who specialised in fertility.  I did have to drive a long way to see her and it was expensive - £300 for 2 x 2 hour sessions.  (I decided to limit it to this).  More than anything it was a good introduction - I think if I had tried the cd's without the actual sessions beforehand they would have been more difficult for me, but everyone is different.  I did play the cd's a lot (nearly every day) in between and after the sessions.
I know that it is quite a controversial subject, but if it doesn't do any harm - I found it very relaxing - then I would have tried anything.  I got a BFP just over a week ago on my first IVF attempt, so who knows!

I wish you the very best of luck whatever you decide to do and let us know what happens!

Hi Alison,
Thank you for your reply. Apprecaite it...
For me to see Tina Taylor will also be a trek from home but part of me is prepared to do that. I've only just got to know about her from FF. But am also looking for some locals too.
What is on the CD's ? Is it music or is it hyponosis stuff? How long are they?
cheers

Hi Shelley

Both cd's are about 25 minutes long - the nourish cd is practically all speech with a bit of music at the beginning and end.  The Tina Taylor cd has more music all the way through in the background while Tina speaks.  I think if you have had a one to one session with a therapist then Tina's cd would be fine (Tina gives you a copy if you visit her).  Alternatively I think if you just wanted to practice it at home without seeing a pro then the nourish cd would be better.

Let me know how you get on!  Best of luck with everything.

Hi Alison,
Thanks for your reply.
I saw someone yesterday for a free consultantation. She charges £50 for 50 mins...£1 per minute! :)
She did not do any hypnosis on me yesterday and she has done hypnosis for help with fertility before. But she said more in the relaxation way. She said she helps with the stress levels etc. Is that how your hypnosis sessions worked?
I am thinking of booking a session with her but keep thinking that maye Tina would be better...guess its all mind over matter.
What did you do in your sessions ?

When I had Hypnotherapy a year ago, it cost £40 per session, but the Therapist told me in advance that I'd need a maximum of 5 sessions.  Each lasted about an hour.
