We did have unexplained if until hubby went for his pre-ivf screening only to find he had problems with sperm mobility,so we were advised to opt for icsi instead.I'm a bit nervous and would apperciate any advice re-tmt,drug side-effect etc
We're having our treatment at chelsfield hospital, kent.Has anyone had their tmt there

Hi Tricia,

I was an ICSI virgin early this year, didnt have a clue what to expect and now im 25 weeks pregnant with twins.  I had my treatment at Barts in London, but anything you need to know just ask.

I used Synarel Nasal Spray, then was on the injections which i was really worried about, but the Autoinjector is brilliant.

Let me know how you get on.

^hello^ Tricia  :)

I too am an ICSI virgin.  We've actually just been told in an appointment today that ICSI is the way ahead for us and to be honest, I'm pretty baffled.

Apparently, there's lots of paperwork to go through and the Specialist mentioned something about Counselling and lots of explanatory discussions before anything can go ahead, which he thinks will be in the new year!!

Its all a bit daunting isn't it?

I'd be grateful if you could let me in on any info you might have about ICSI as I'm not sure if I belong in the "Inbetweenies" anymore.  :-\

Thanks.

Bec, its quite ok to stay on the inbetweenie thread ;) . It's the general chill out area for everyone ;)

Loads of love and luck to you both

thanxs 4 all ur good wishes&replies :)
Bec-icsi isn't much different from IVF except they inject sperm straight into the egg.the procedure b4 is the same.I was a bit worried bout side-effects of sniffin but none so far(except 4 a bit of bleeding).if u have anymore questions, just give me a shout
as 4 paperwork think it may be same for all assisted conceptions

Hi Tinkerbelle and Bec

I am in the 2ww of my first ICSI and it is a relief to have got this far although don't what the result will be yet.

I want to recommend a book to you which I found really useful - Fertility and Conception by Zita West.  The chapter on assisted conception gives you a good health programme to follow to get you through the treatment.  It includes doing a liver detox before your treatment, eating healthily during it and useful tips like using a hot water bottle to ease your cramps when you're stimulating.

I found it nice to have a programme to follow rather than being left in the cold with all your drugs.

Good luck and be strong.
