Hi Angie,

I'm pretty sure they will still be able to do ICSI.
Good luck!

Hey hun

Out of all them sperm they only need to find a couple that look decent it doesn't matter if they aren't moving ICSI injects the sperm straight into the egg  so they snap the tails off to stop them moving anyway.

I am sure the clinic will be able to find some that look ok.

Good luck and try not to worry.  ^hugme^

Hi Angie,
Glad we helped a bit. And nice to speak to another North-Easter. I'm not actually from Middlesborough but the JCUH seems to be better than Newcastle-Gateshead clinics. I think it's a pretty good clinic (but I don't know anything about the Hartlepool one).
Very best of luck!

Angie glad we helped reassure you.

If you haven't already get him on wellman vitamins, my dh's count's improved loads with this. Tell him to cut down on caffeine and alcohol stop smoking if he does. No hot baths, make sure he doesn't put the laptop on his knee, keep his phone out of his jean's pocket, give him a healthy diet, no cycling and wear boxers not briefs.

I made sure my dh did this and his counts went up quite a lot.

Good luck

The diet is getting there, yesterday's scare n freak out was the kik up the bum we needed I think! Thanks again. Making my app't 2day 4 fertility clinic, just wanna get on. Sad we all have 2 go thru this but glad 2 hear frm others.x

Hi Hun,

In same position with my hubby too, We have been prescribed Anastazole to help with his sperm count. We had only one live sperm in the first semen analysis after the tablets we had more and managed to get five to fertilize my eggs. In the sperm we had extracted directly we had zero!! Try to leave as many samples to freeze if you can for the big day! And make sure your clinic can freeze your eggs, as my original clinic could not do this. If you want any more advice just give me an email always happy to chat to others in same situation.  stay strong you will get there in the end x

Hi Angie - that result was from one very small sample of his sperm (they couldn't count all it would take forever) - it doesn't mean there were absolutely none at all. From my own experience, we got a 0 morphology result and in ICSI we always got 1%. By the way 4% is seen as normal! My DH motility and count was very, very low too. We are now pregnant from ICSI good luck! :)
p.s I'm from Middlesbrough too but now live here in Newcastle so went to a clinic here, - JCUH has the best success rates in the north-east I think.

Have been given a choice of clinics n jcuh has the longest wait list so was thinking of Hartlepool (gp recommendbest but lyk u sed jcuh has best rates so confused as want 2 get on wiv the process but obviously have best chance of success! Wishing the best 4 u all n I may take u up on th PM if I hav anotha freak out!

My hubby has 0% morphology but they still found several good sperm with IMSI so it doesn't necessary mean he has none at all xx

Hi angie1 I'm with Hartlepool and I'm on my first ICSI. So far they have been fantastic consultant and nurses lovely. It does take a while to get going though I was referred in Feb and just started my treatment last month. Hope this helps  :)

Hi Nicky 3007, nice 2 hear frm someone actually goin through it there. Am stressing myself out about makin the right choice so good 2 hear ur finding them so nice.  New 2 it all so not really sure what goes on. We're u waiting from feb or did u hav 2 do more tests etc? Bet ur glad 2 finally get going, patience is not a virtue I possess! Will deffo keep everything crossed 4 u.x

Hi angie1 I'm all new to it too so know what you mean about the stress I'm not a patient person also. I was referred by gp in feb then had all the horrible tests but once the results were all in and we decided what to do it feels like its all happening very quickly now. Could have waited untill after Christmas but as I said impatient so  squeezed one cycle in before :).  I'll keep everything crossed for you too if I can help you with anything else just let me know. I've been driving myself mad not really knowing what's going on I like to know the ins and outs of everything lol. xx

Horrible tests...sounds like I'm in 4 a treat!ha. Knw wot u mean about wanting to knw the ins n outs...such a huge thing 2 put into other peoples hands wen u hav no idea. Am trying 2 swot up b4 the app't but there's so much. Was wanting 2 ask what's the deal with long n short protocol? As I said but clueless at the mo! Well everything in its right place at its right time, b amazing 4 u 2have an xtra special Xmas!  ;D

Thanks l_ouise. Wots imsi? So many abbreviations! Glad alls lookin betta than it was a coupla days ago :)

Hi angie1 most of the tests are not too bad the SALP wasn't very nice but everyone is different so don't worry too much :). I'm not sure about the short protocol, I'm on the long protocol it means your on the DR for longer. Your situation sounds similar to mine the consultant said because of my age which is the same as yours they would put me on the long one. Not sure if there were anyother factors to it. Hope your appointment goes well on 29/11/12. Keep me posted xx

Appt on thurs wasn't great. Basically if no motile sperm cnt have /Icsi. Kept talkin abt donor sperm which hadn't even thought about. Another SA this week n then check in jan On me b4 see what can dine. Absolutely gutted :( hopin n  ^pray^ but thing jus seem 2 b goin from bad 2 worse. Sorry 2 b depressin jus real low n need 2 get it off ma chest!

Hi Angie,
I'm really sorry to hear that. I'm surprised too, as motility shouldn't affect ICSI, but presumably they think the non-motility is a sign of an underlying problem with the sperm (on level of dna or chromosomes?) which would mean it wouldn't work. I hope you are ok. These things take a lot of processing.  Take care of yourself ^hugme^

Hi angie,

I was in a similar situation they never spoke to me about donor sperm but they did ask us to loose weight and for him to start taking selenium (think that's how you spell it). It's normally in a multi vitamin for men, DH on fertilmen from amazon.

DH has now lost 5 & 1/2 stone we had our EC yesterday and managed 3 fertilised eggs so don't give up hope.

Again keep me posted good luck  ^hugme^  ^hugme^
