Hello everyone. I do hope there is someone out there that can help us. We have been trying for a baby for 3.5yrs. I have a blocked tube and have had clomid for 6mths with no joy. Recently I read on one of the threads about different blood tests people have had at their clinics/hospitals etc so I went to my own GP and requested some of these blood tests  to be done which in fairness  he did. When I got in from work I opened the post and there was a letter asking me to go and see the doctor next week because it appears I have an abnormal antinuclear antibody level. Immediately I googled this and have now worked myself up as it mentions how this is linked with the disease LUPUS. Has anyone else been told they have ANA's and what has been your treatment with regards to infertility?

Hi diane, i know anti-nuclear antibodies can affect prenancy and lead to miscarriages, usually they get around this by putting you on asprin and heparin in pregnancy, it does sound like you have some immune issues going on, thats as much as i know hun, hope someone will cme along soon who can answer your question more fully.xx clare

Hi Diane

I tested positive for ANA's about 2 years ago.

Whilst one of the conditions you can have is LUPUS there are lots more.

The first time I had an abnormal ANA I was told that it was Lupus but now they are not too sure. A lot of autoimmune diseases are really hard to diagnose bacause they have cross over symptoms.  Meaning that you might have some symptoms of one disease and some of another.

I am still not 100% diagnosed but I do have a beautiful baby boy who is 8 months old.  I had a fantastic fertility consultant who put me on HRT, asprin, Dexamethasone and viagra.
