Hello - I hope one of the nurses can give me some info. I went for my 7 week scan today and thankfully everything was fine with the baby. I was told to come back for another scan in 2 weeks because the persisting cyst which supports the pregnancy is larger than normal. They said it was just procedure to re-scan and that it wouldn't effect the pregnancy. Can anyone give me any info about this? If it is fine, why do they need to re-scan? Many thanks - Rachel

The cyst is known as a corpus luteum and once the baby´s placenta takes over progesterone production which will be soon, the cyst will go down. They just want to ensure that it does and doesn´t continue to increase and maybe cause you problems. Cysts which burst can be painful (as I know myself!!) and you don´t want any complications in pregnancy so they are just going for the "better be safe than sorry" rule!!
