Hi ladies,

A few days ago I found 2 lumps in my armpit. one the size of a pea and the other a bit bigger. I am 33 wks preg and I am worried sick. I went to see GP but he didnt really check, just told me it was prob and ingrowing hair and gave me antibiotics. It isnt and ingrowing hair, its deep in the armit. Im so, so scared and worried. I cant believe that I have to deal with this at this stage. I have a 11 month DD as well.

Please has anybody expereinced this and could it be pregnancy related.

thanks

a worried shara  :(

Shara,

Lumps are not unusual during pg (esp the later stages!) but I would get this checked out. It could be a sign of your body picking up an infection and trying to fight it off, or it could be nothing. Is not worth letting yourself worry needlessly over something that can be rationally explained and you need a proper answer. Can you see another GP and explain your fears?

Sending you a big ^hugme^

thanks ladies,

Its to hard not to worry isnt it. The lump does not hurt and having googled this, its not the best sign. I will make appointment tomorrow to see another GP and I will insist on referal. Do swollen glands hurt?

Charless mum-so happy to hear you have another LO on the way, you were ahead of me on the trimester lists last time :)

Gona try and stay away from google as well.

Shara - i have had lumps in my armpits for years and have been given anti biotics the lot and even referred to the hospital to have the glands removed (which never happened as i fell pg)

Its to do with hormones and sounds horrible but i have a problem with sweating a lot in my work uniform which doesnt help.

I know you are worrying but it could just be the glands and may go after the baby is here - plus they cannot be removed as you are pregnant hence why they gave u anti biotics.

i had a lump that scared me to no end - i stopped wearing deodorant for a week or so and it shrunk and finally went away. I switched to a milder deodorant after that...

Hi

I hope your appt goes well today. I posted on this site about a lump I found at the weekend on my ribs and like you was going a bit  ^idiot^ over it.  The gp told me today that it is just a sebaceous cyst and nothing to worry about....I spoke to my friend about it earlier and she told me when she was having her dd she had one appear under her armpit which was the same. It eventually went...

thanks chandelle and EBW,

well I went to doc, she had a feel and also checked my breast. She has referred me to see a specialist so I have a few weeks now to wait. Im going ^idiot^ like you said EBW, so glad you have had it sorted, the not knowing is not easy as your mind just goes into overdrive.  Im really worried cos the lump does not hurt and having googled it all I have read is that its the ones that dont hurt that you have to worry about. I cant believe this has happened. Last week I was looking forward to meeting my new LO and now this. Sorry im so negative but my mum had breast cancer quite young and i lost my BF at the age of 34 a couple of years ago.  Im just beside myself and so worried about the future

Bless you - you must be out of your mind with worry  :-\

My SIL found a lump in her breast/edge of arm pit several weeks ago ( a week after she had a biopsy on her womb) - she's only 40 - the lump didn't hurt at all.

Anyway, all her results have come back perfectly clear.

The specialist told her that most lumps are the result of hormones - which would tie in with pregnancy too.

When will you be able to get any firm results?

Good luck - sending tons of  ^reiki^ ^reiki^ ^reiki^

thanks again, don't know what I would do without FF. Well I have been referred to a breast consultant a week tomorrow. To say worried is an understatement. This lump is so scary I wish it would just go. EBW did your cyst hurt?

I was in tears at the surgery for hours this morning, just feel so vunrable. I pray its just pregnancy related as I have no idea how long its been there for.

I feel as though I have a week to go to find out about the rest of my life!  I need to be more ^reiki^ ^reiki^

Hi Shara

just to let you know I had 2 lumps in one armpit during my last (unsuccessful) tx. I went to see a gp here in France who, quite frankly, didn't have a clue. First he said virus, then he said allergy, then he didn't know and his diagnosis was to wait and see.  So having panicked my way through the first few days of stimming, I changed to an aloe vera gel deodorant and hypoallergenic showergel and the lumps went down again.  I still don't know what caused it, this was my 4th tx and it wasn't like I was doing anything drastically different so the mystery remains....

Also several years ago a lump was found in one of my breasts on a routine gynie exam (I was on a year out in France at the time and they check your breasts as a matter of course). It turned out to be a completely harmless fibrous adenoma which was removed under a GA, they cut round the darker skin that surrounds the nipple to remove it so there's not even a scar.  It was the French doc that suggested removal, although when I came home to get it done my GP here told me basically to go home and stop being silly.  Then, when I insisted on an ultrasound (on the basis that BC runs through the family on my dad's side) the bloke on the ultrasound machine couldn't find the lump cos it kept sliding away from him. Again I had to insist that he keep looking and then it was "oh yes, coo it's quite big isn't it?" I wanted to slap him!  So, after that performance, I wasn't about to take the UK doc's word for it that it was ok to leave it there and even though it was harmless I'm glad I got rid.

Good luck with your appointment and fingers crossed it will be something completely harmless, hormone related and will go away of it's own accord.  Please please please try not to worry too much, you've got 2 littluns there to look after... well, one and a bit anyway :)

All the best hon, I just wanted you to know that a lump doesn't necessarily indicate bad news ^hugme^ ^hugme^ ^hugme^

xxx

PS just to add a note following the last 2 posts, the lumps in my armpit did hurt, the one in my breast didn't.

thanks nixf,

Its so good to hear positive stories about lumps. Glad everything turned out ok for you. Its a good thing that they regulary check your breasts in france, as I for one am guilty of not checking often enough.

Im trying to carry on as normal and will see what the specialist sais a week tomorrow. What is scary though is the fact that he is the same consultant that helped my mum with her breast cancer over 15 years ago.

last week I didnt have anything to worry about, now this.

Hon, strictly speaking, you haven't got anything to worry about now except keeping that little being inside you safe and warm and happy. Yes, there is a lump but chances are it is absolutely harmless, totally benign.

It must be so scary to be seeing the same consultant as your mum, but don't take that as a sign that this is history repeating itself, it's just a coincidence and those happen all the time sweetie, just like miracles, and you've got 2 of those (well, one and a bit ;)).

Stay ^reiki^ love!

hi shara

I have now found a lump in my breast and been referred to the breast clinic some time in the next 2w.  Now I really am going  ^idiot^ esp as the gp put a cross in the "suspected cancer" box.  Also when e felt the rib one he wrote it off immedeiately by the feel. To be fair this tume he didnt feel it - just my armpit - the nurse did but I am scared.  We'll do this wait together huh?
