Have a drink MrsE! You definitely deserve at least one!
12th April isn't so long anymore so hopefully you then have a plan what is going to happen. As far as I am aware IVF has way better chances of working than IUI but I understand where you come from saying you'd be angry at yourself if you use your IVF cycle now without trying one go at IUI before. Maybe the consultants can give you a better idea as they will have all the figures as well so you can work out what's best to do.

Thanks for asking -I am 21 weeks tomorrow and definitely don't look just "fat" anymore. I am shocked how fast time goes and I can't quite believe we're over half way through.

Time will go even faster cos we had an 8 week old baby cat moving in yesterday. All black and called Gizmo. He is the smallest and cutest thing I have ever seen and I could squeeze him all day long :) xx

Mrs E - we're doing a medicated cycle this time with injections then if this fails it'll be straight to IVF. Hopefully we'll be third time lucky!

Fingers crossed it works for you weff third time lucky...have they said how long you would need to wait before moving to IVF if you need to? Its this idea of waiting that is getting me. Which i know its a daft way to make a decision, but since when was anything straight forward hey!

Had a great bank holiday weekend - forgot about it all and had a good old catch up with lots of people. Back to work now though!!

Hi girls, can I join in?

I am considering care manchester simply because it's less than 1 hour drive from home and seems to be good enough by looking at their website, I hope I am making a good choice! Just had an aful experience with a clinic abroad that had a good reputation online, and even though financially it was appealing I would not repeat the experience again, it was too stressful and the treatment less than ideal.

How do you find care success rates please?

I saw online that they have a package for 2 cycles, has anyone gone for it?

Welcome Lonely heart ^hugme^! I'm sorry I cant help with the cycle package deal cos we were lucky being funded for 3 cycles but I can honestly say if we were in the same situation again having to choose a clinic we'd go for CARE again. They are seriously good. I think on paper they have the best success rates in the North West and all the staff there are lovely!

Any questions let me know - we have done 3 cycles with them and were 3rd time lucky last December :) xx

Thanks kitty55 for the welcome and big congrats on your pregnancy, can I ask if your three treatments were the same or did Care try to tweak things the second and third times?

I have booked for an initial consultation but there is a 6-week wait at the moment. It always seems like a long time when you are waiting to be seen!

Do they start treatment straight away after the initial consultation?

Also, does it matter which consultant we see at our initial consultation? Do you get to see only them for the duration of the treatment? We have MF issues but ironically the eggs have always been our issue in each cycle. I always get told that I have a good ovarian reserve, yet always end up with too many immature eggs and then rubbish embryos. I hope Care can help us here!

Kezza - congratulations on the arrival of your little lady! Hopefully it all went well and to plan.

Welcome Lonely heart - I can't answer anything on the cycle deal (yet!) as we are doing IUI thats funded by the NHS. We might move onto IVF/ICSI depending on the results of our next appointment. I have found all of the clinical staff lovely at CARE, just the admin people who are a bit of a pain occasionally!

There wasn't really a wait for us (we had to wait as we went on holiday!) but there was a bit of a wait to get initial appointments. I think they get busy at certain times of year and now we are in the period where people who decided they would investigate after Xmas being treated!

AFM - So a referral has been made for me for a hysteroscopy privately as I can't even think about the NHS wait - I have called the doctors secretary a couple of times to get it booked in. All she can tell me is that it will be 'April' as the doctor is out of the country at the moment. What a pain!!! I want to be booked in now!!! Our next appointment at CARE is on 12th and I really want to have the results of the hysteroscopy by then ready to go. I want to be able to start again as soon as possible, without losing another cycle, but not sure we will be able to do it. Praying for a bit of good luck and that I was nice enough on the phone to this guys secretary!

Congratulations Kezza, that's amazing news that your little girl arrived. Hope you're both well!

MrsE, fingers crossed they get you in for your hysteroscopy asap. I know all this waiting for stuff to happen is the worst bit!

Lonely heart, thank you! It still doesn't feel real most of the time but I have heard that from other ladies going through treatment that they couldn't believe when it finally happened.
I think we had about 6 weeks too between referral and initial consultation where we saw Mr Atkinson. Mr Patel who is retired now did my first egg collection and Mr Atkinson did the transfer for the same cycle. You will see other consultants and not necessarily the same one every time but don't worry they are all very nice. It was 4 weeks after the consultation that we started treatment.
The first two cycles our protocol was the same - it was a short protocol both times, first time I was on Menopur and second on Gonal F (which didn't work as well for me I think) and took Clexane due to a blood clotting disorder. As mentioned second cycle was just a failure all around as even though we got one embryo to transfer it wasn't the best quality and I didn't have much hope which then got confirmed by the bfn I had a bit later.
Third cycle was still a short protocol but I have been put on 450iu Menopur and 150iu Gonal F straight from the start (as I have a low ovarian reserve) and I took Clexane, baby aspirin and I also took steroids that cycle. I am grateful that they put me on steroids even though they weren't sure themselves as it could have caused slight issues for me as a type 1 diabetic so they weren't too keen but did it in the end.
What I also did for a couple of month before starting treatment again I took CoQ10 and DHEA supplements as they are meant to improve egg quality. And I looked for an IVF specialised acupuncturist who treated me before and during the cycle and I think that was a big factor. We had 6 eggs and ended up with all of them going to day 5 one of which got transferred and another one was good enough to be frozen so it was an excellent cycle for me :). Sorry for the essay! Hope all this info helps - I am sure CARE can come up with a plan to help you! xx

Thanks ladies....its a right pain. And possibly the worst waiting of the lot, as I'm prepared to pay for it. I just need the guy to book me in!

Kezza - hope the first couple of days have been fabulous. (if not tiring?!)

I am really starting to waiver between doing another IUI cycle and just going straight for IVF as I am so bothered about waiting. Is waiting a good enough reason to move onto IVF though! I sort of wish the docs would make the decision for me!!

Hiya ladies :)

The twins arrived on the 16th and it was a horrible experience at the hospital but importantly, the twins are both in good health after all the drama regarding their hearts. They both have minor holes but should fix themselves. I'm so relieved anyway.

Kezza, congrats on your new arrival!

Anyway this is a bit of a goodbye really. Ive had a long ttc journey and I'm relieved to finally be done. I've got three beautiful children and want for nothing more except to spend all my time with them.

I hope you all the very best of luck with your ttc, IVF, pregnancies and motherhood. I've enjoyed chatting to you, take care xx

Louise - you probably wont see this as you have signed off. But thanks for your message of hope!

I have finally managed to get an appointment for my hysteroscopy on Monday 11th - in the nick of time for my review at CARE on Tuesday 12th! After a bit of being nice to secretarys and chasing up for referral letters it has happened.

Does anyone know if you can cycle straight after a hysteroscopy or do you have to wait?

Lonely heart - their rates are all on the website. Sorry to hear your previous experiences haven't been too good. We've had a good experience with Care. I felt it took a while to start treatment but went via GP to have all bloods done etc, I think in context it was quite quick but seems to drag when you want things to hurry.

Kezza- so so pleased for you! Congratulations, I hope you're all well!

Mrs E - I hope you get it all sorted, this waiting game is never ending!

Louise - congratulations, sorry your experience wasn't that good but glad your babies are here safe!

We started our new cycle yesterday! AF arrived (actually slightly earlier for once) and started 75iu monopur today for alternate days and in for a scan next Thursday! I'm hoping we're 3rd time lucky. Feel emotional already!
