Though I have read elsewhere that the government has already banned artificial sperm from being used in assisted reproduction? Does anyone else know if this is true?

I assume this is following on from the reports that came out a couple of years ago.

Have just answered my own question.

MPs back artificial sperm for childless

I feel very strongly about this. Am looking into how I can make my voice heard and hope that others will join in.

Claudine, from your article:

"Last night Josephine Quintavalle of the campaign group Comment on Reproductive Ethics said lifting the ban could lead to 'the ultimate incest' of an individual trying to create both sperm and eggs from their own tissue, making them both mother and father of a child. It was 'quite ridiculous' to rely on the potential of a technique still in its infancy, she said: 'If you turn the focus around from infertile adults and think about what you are creating, you always get the perspective you should adopt. I think we are becoming extremely selfish in our attitude to the children we produce.'"

Sorry, but what planet is this woman on?

[Just googled her and she has FIVE grown up sons. Nice, non-biased perspective on infertile couples then? ::)]

Changed title of post as 2nd article more relevant on this board.

Radio 4 also ran a very good discussion on Saturday (The Embryo Wars!)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/science/pip/7sd60/

Anyone have any good ideas as to how we can contact MP's encouraging them on this?
